Glowies have been glamorized by decades of Hollywood bullshit to look much cooler and competent than they really are. One prominent example that proves they're lame as fuck and sloppy at their jobs is the story of Isabella Loretta Janke and her glowdad Mike.
All those millions of dollars from donors aligned with the Military Industrial Complex, all the blatant online astroturfing from bots and obvious paid shills like Bill Mitchell, all the favorable coverage from Rupert Murdoch's outlets (FOX News, Wall Street Journal, NYPost) and other GOPe aligned media like Ben Shapiro's Daily Wire... only to flame out harder than Jeb did.
I recall thinking way back in 2018 when I watched his debate against Gillum, the day after it happened, that he looked like a scared child. During that cycle, I also saw some of his campaign events, he came off like a nervous kid late to class. Thankfully both he and Rick Scott prevailed that cycle, but it was mainly testament to the strength of the Florida Republican Party's infrastructure and the weakness of the Florida Democratic Party's. Success in Florida is easy mode for a Republican, so it really isn't surprising that a guy like Ron DeSantis isn't ready for prime time in the national spotlight. Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush are good examples of Florida Republicans who did well statewide but poorly nationwide.
This is why I don't believe pro-establishment Repubs on the internet who claim that we need to nominate someone "electable" like DeSantis as opposed to someone "unelectable" like Trump or Kari Lake, because winning in Florida where you have a weak statewide Democratic Party, a strong statewide Republican Party, and decent election integrity measures (to his credit, JEB! cleaned up Florida's elections; DeSantis put some finishing touches) is not the same as competing in states like Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania where the statewide Democratic Parties are *much* stronger/competent than Florida's, and where election integrity is nonexistent to the point where fraud is so blatant that anyone with a brain (not DeSantis shills and partisan Democrats on the internet) can see it.

The thing about local and statewide politics is that you can get away with some aspergers / introvert / awkward mannerisms because it's more about amassing a war chest of funds. If you compete for the Presidency however, *especially* on the Republican side, you have to contend with the national spotlight and constant scrutiny over minutiae.
There are more awkward stiff politicians than you might expect at the local and statewide level, because while they aren't that good at talking to voters they are good at kissing donor ass (and in some cases, playing the rigged game). Mark Kelly (D) and Katie Hobbs (D) in Arizona are good examples of awkward donor kiss asses who exploit election fraud to 'victories' they would have never gotten if they had the same personalities but competed as MAGA Republicans in states without election integrity.
George Walker Bush and John Ellis Bush Bush both did very well statewide in their respective states when they ran as Governor, but the former was more skilled at talking to regular Americans than the latter, which is partly why George performed much better in his Presidential aspirations than Jeb.
Oh and one more thing: if you have a funded online shilling campaign, that isn't enough given that tons of voters still get their political content from cable news. We've all noticed a lot of DeSantis 2024 shilling on various websites, like how Yang 2020 was shilled constantly. But a very active online shilling op makes you look like a paper tiger when you lack fundamentals in terms of talking to voters and contending with the mainstream media.

@Puff for years I've been opening to voting for Ron DeSantis in the general if he were the Republican nominee, but the events of this last year have made it clear that certain elements in the Republican Party, aligned with the Military Industrial Complex and the Cheap Labor Express, wish to make it so that the only politicians who get sworn into power are those that align with them. They have funded online shills who claim there wasn't enough fraud in 2020 and 2022 to change the outcomes, because they want to assert the narrative that only establishment aligned toadies can win, because they want it to be that way.
Therefore, I'm Trump or Bust. If Trump dies from a heart attack, I'll vote write-in. If he wins in 2024 and there isn't a MAGA nominee in 2028, I'm also voting write-in (hopefully the political system will have fundamentally changed by then).

@Sniperwoof I have seen DeSantis 2024 online shills spout the argument that "DeSantis being an awkward introvert makes him more relatable to a lot of people" which is doesn't hold water because if you're running on the Republican side, that kind of weakness makes you very vulnerable prey to the mainstream media. Fetterman got away with being a stroke victim because the media shielded him from scrutiny and the early voting system (along with ballot harvesting) meant that Oz winning late deciders by a ton didn't matter. If there was only one election day in PA (and if mail-in ballots weren't widespread, like how it was pre-2020) then fettertitties wouldn't be grugging it out in the Capitol.

Which is why Trump *is* stronger than DeSantis, despite the notions of his personality being this deadly hindrance he actually does better than other Republicans in terms of holding up to media scrutiny.
