The US is deploying troops to East Africa on an indefinite basis - I wonder what the years preceding World War I felt like

Dear Mr. Speaker: (Dear Madam President)

At my direction, United States Armed Forces personnel have conducted an operation to evacuate United States personnel and others from Khartoum, Sudan, in response to the deteriorating security situation in Sudan. To conduct and support this operation, United States Armed Forces personnel with appropriate combat equipment deployed to Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Sudan. United States Armed Forces personnel will remain deployed in Djibouti to protect United States personnel and others until the security situation no longer requires their presence, and additional forces are prepared to deploy to the region if required.
I directed this action consistent with my responsibility to protect United States citizens both at home and abroad and in furtherance of United States national security and foreign policy interests, pursuant to my constitutional authority as Commander in Chief and Chief Executive and to conduct United States foreign relations.
I am providing this report as part of my efforts to keep the Congress fully informed, consistent with the War Powers Resolution (Public Law 93-148). I appreciate the support of the Congress in these actions.
Sincerely,

JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR.

Probably looking to cut China off from controlling all the cobalt mining ops they have in that part of the world, which tbh is even sadder than if it was about sand because that just means it's about building EV batteries.

I’m still unsure how “get in the fucking cargo plane, we’re taking you home now”, leaving a skeleton crew of military personnel to shoot off squatters, and continuing business as usual is meant to escalate tensions. I’m reading it as a show of force to discourage any last minute hostage shenanigans Iran-style.

Looks like we've found the newest location for the American Forever War, I was wondering what would replace Afghanistan.
Worst part is that East African food sucks. At least Middle East and Afghanistan had tasty lamb kebabs that may or may not give you the shits, oh well. I hope our Amerimutt soldiers enjoy eating soggy ass injera and raw meat.

Well duh, we need to spread trannyism to East Africa for our greatest ally! Have you seen what those Black White Supremacists in Uganda are doing? Its annudah shoah!
I was thinking the same thing. It wouldn't be surprising in the slightest if the American military presence starts to operate as a nerve center for rainbow propaganda/subversion in the region. The timing is too obvious and the Sudan crisis provided the perfect opportunity to get the machine up and running.

To each their own. I don't like injera because I think it tastes too sour, but the way Ethiopia has multiple different variations on spicy beef tartare/carpaccio is probably its best trait. Nothing better, if you use good quality tenderloin (you'll have to make it yourself to do this, your local ethiopian spot won't be shelling out for that).
