I was going to wait until the pic was released, but when I saw it, I take back my original assessment. The further down the wound goes, one of two things look possible here: either 1. that is fat tissue that is exposed, and if that were the case, the ER would have absolutely cleaned/debrided it and attempted to stitch it back. Or 2. the lighter dots are slough, which does indicate infection/dying tissue. I have seen a lot of shit in the 12 years I've been a nurse...I saw a 14 year old girl sneak in a razor blade in the pantie pocket and slash the ever loving shit out of herself, and even this made me say 'holy fuck'

I showed that pic to my BF who is a trained pathologist, he asked me where the perineum seam is if thats his taint. He has a point as I cannot see it, everyone has a line running from the taint to the balls so where is his? He said it is likely an injury to an armpit taken at a weird angle or between a fold of fat, do not take his word as gospel but do ask where that fucking seam is.
