IRS Debt can, in fact, be discharged in a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy depending on the circumstances. Student Loans, under no circumstances whatsoever can be discharged in a Bankruptcy- they can even revoke your driver's license for unpaid student loans so Ralph would have no way to drive his Nissan shitbox. And if you don't negotiate a deal (or negotiate one then fail to pay as agreed), then you'll potentially be unable to live in the US without having bank account sweeps/liens, etc., until you do (negotiate a deal). What are the odds Ralph would voluntarily approach them to sort out a deal, and actually hold to it? Kicking the can down the road temporarily by leaving the country and/or/then holding your breath until they decide you're someone to focus on is a loser's bet if you ever want to acquire property or open accounts or do any number of things normal people do.
