I can't be bothered to look for it but a while back when he wrote that open letter to her on twitter, he mentioned that they have relatives across the country willing to take her in and help her get on her feet if she wanted out. Might have it slightly wrong but that was the gist. So could be something like an aunt with an extra room in who knows what state.

I don't believe Amanda put much thought into her relationship with Ralph. Rather, her actions suggest an extreme form of maladaptive behavior where she simply went along with whatever men in her life did for a time. While women may tolerate strained relationships with their own families, it's rare for them to allow their significant other to go nuclear on their families like Ralph did.

Regarding the baby, I believe it was Ralph's actions, he just told her they weren't using any contraceptives and she just rolled with it. He meant to get her pregnant as a way to prevent Amanda from leaving him and to shove it on Josh's face. It's similar to how he attempted to use Faith's pregnancy to manipulate her into staying with him. It wasn't until the JFK incident that Amanda began to question the situation, but even then, she went along with it.

However, it's possible that after Ralph forgot to pay the electricity bill and publicly humiliated and belittled her, Amanda began to quietly protest Ralph's behavior. She began paying attention to the whole field of redflags this man actually is, his most recent substance abuse and complete disregard for her daughter while he obsessed over Xander actually got her thinking on her situation even further. This can be seen in various clips where she's seen pushing back against Ralph's antics. The tension between them increased. This is where a-logs began pouring memes on him about Amanda "big leaguing" Ralph; so Ralph naturally attempted to outdo her to put her in her place, leading to a further deterioration of their relationship.

Ultimately, Ralph's attempt to coerce Amanda into committing perjury on his behalf was likely the final straw. Although she may have tried to break things off in person, Ralph responded with his usual tactics of emotional manipulation, including threats of suicide and belittling her. It's possible that Ralph simply forgot to hide her documents, which allowed Amanda to make her escape while he was in California.
