If it wasn't for the texts, we wouldn't have half the content we do now. I think the ones where they argue with him can be cringe and they come across as aloggy, but the more jovial text exchanges where they're doing bits at him and not taking it too seriously are some of my favorite Pat content.

I'm not gonna do it myself, but I also can't stop other people from doing it, and if these other people produce funny content I'll laugh at it. I'm not going to moralize either because that's gay.

I mean the texting is pretty gnarly, objectively speaking. He’s got OCD and clearly can’t help but respond. That would be piteous…in a different person.

However, it’s the Pig. He’s a particularly exhilarating collection and product of bad traits with an improbable absence of balancing good ones. Imagine if he had a shred of self-deprecation or humor? If he weren’t both cruel and stupid? If he were even a bit less self-aggrandizing and deceitful? If he weren’t hopelessly addicted to putting his shit on the street via Twitter? We wouldn’t be here.

It makes Pigwatching a pretty ethically clean experience, in my opinion.

yeah, aloggy, that's what some of them come off as and it spoiled the mood a little too much sometimes.

but then we got people posting wookie pics at him and receiving the copy paste "you are going to jail, stalker felon" response and that shit kills me every time someone reposts it. come to think, it's the same thing that was so funny about soundboard prank calls back in the 00's, using celebrity quotes to annoy the shit out of people, joe pesci and al pacino calling up a construction company or whatever. i'd be 100% behind people texting pat's number in minecraft if it was just to send pics from popular media at him and see how he reacts. especially more wookies.

It stuck me how Patrick failed, it was his assumption that a publishing deal would get him fans, while it was nothing of the short, some writers can say they have a following on line at verious self publish story sights, but Pat didn't have this as it takes effort, he didn't really cultivate a genuine following.
Everything he had was a house built on sand.
It would be unlikely that any reputable publishers would talk to him outside of who are you & please go away.
He has a proven track record of failure.

The most disgusting thing about Pat (or more accurately, the people Pat parrots- he has no solid convictions of his own beyond "people who deny me my status as an amazing boy should be punished by mommy the state") is that they say "well bad thing is so bad violence is the only solution lest they commit even worse violence" whilst also being the sole arbiters of what "bad thing" actually is. To these people, Catholics who still attended church during lockdown were "Nazis". A parent pulling his child out of education because the guidance counsellor is grooming them to be a troon is a "Nazi." Someone wanting answers about why grooming gangs targeted thousands of vulnerable young girls is a "Nazi".

It's no surprise that the most bitter and scummy person we all know of- Patrick- would gravitate toward such a political ideology.

What most of the modern SFF brigade fail to realise is that literature is not the source of fame and fortune it once was. They think it will score them fame and adoration, but nowadays there just isn’t the market for that - generating mega fame and fortune as an author hinges entirely on your work being adapted into a film/TV show, the books alone won’t cut it. Couple this with the rampant insecurity and narcissism that runs through them and you have a community of bitter, twisted people fighting for scraps while feeling they’re owed the whole table.

Similar to the above, Pat and his ideological bedfellows are driven entirely by self-interest and their own Napoleon complexes (ironic since they always claim to speak For The People). If you criticise drag queen story time or whatever they’ll pull the ‘what’s it got to do with you’ or ‘shh let people enjoy things’ while simultaneously demanding a ban on anything they don’t like lest people enjoy themselves in ways they don’t approve of. When they say they want to tear down the hierarchies of power they do, they just want to rebuild it with them and their toadies at the top instead. It runs across the entire left but Pat’s section of it, the more centre left that rejects the outright social overhaul of socialists, tends to be the worst for this imo.
