DID is a legit disorder, but as I stated before, it’s very rare. BPD and HPD might be larping as having it. People without a personality disorder might be larping it too, just for the attention. If a person wants attention and wants to seem special, that doesn’t mean they have a personality disorder.
Imo NPD wouldn’t do that. One of the NPD traits is being seen as flawless. Narcissistic personalities usually avoid being seen as mentally ill.
I respectfully argue that it just isn't a legimate disorder.
I believe in the rare instances where a collaborative, well-meaning team has issued a DID diagnosis and the patient is not actively larping, but this 'identity disturbance' is purely the result of BPD's dissociative-domain of symptoms presenting in a dramatic manner.
Otherwise this 'DID' is a 10/10 severe presentation of BPD.
A narc does want to be seen as 'special' though - and a one-in-a-million, exclusive and dramatic illness just happening to strike them certainly fits the bill.
