It comes across like she set the goal of getting to Kuwait and leaving everything behind and when she got there, the happiness/satisfaction/meaning still did not come to fruition so she is now heading through a rolodex of half-baked out-of-fashion ideas to just feel something.

I just can't see Chantal going anywhere without Salah for any length of time. Having a man gives her life purpose. I will never forget last July - Sept when her desperation levels were off the charts and she was spending hours and hours every day trying to get a man - ANY man - to sleep with her so she could lure him into a relationship. It was unsettling how absolutely frantic she was.

Now she has Salah and I think she'll do just about anything, including enduring the scorching Kuwait summer, to avoid being separated from him. The only reason she went back to Canada last time was to deal with her bankruptcy and get rid of her cats. Now that those have been dealt with, there is no reason for her to ever be away from him again. She found a unicorn, a "hot" and "young" man who not only accepts but facilitates her gluttony. I don't disagree with your overall assessment, but there is indeed one reason to be away from the Golden Prince, and it is going to keep coming up every three months: she is on a tourist visa. She has no choice but to leave the country, and if Salah is unable to accompany her, then she'll have to do it on her own and then pray that she'll be approved for yet another tourist visa.

Her visa expires this month; I'm not sure of the exact day, but she has about 3 weeks left on it. She has been absolutely incommunicado about what she intends to do. She keeps talking about Kuwait being her "home" and talks about importing cats and whatnot. But legally, Kuwait is not her home, and such talk could literally get her banned from re-entry.

She does not have to go to Canada to get another visa; she could go to any country. But she has to 1) actually be admitted into that country on a tourist visa there and 2) be approved for another visa from Kuwait. One amusing scenario would be for her to exit on a visa run to UAE, be granted a tourist visa in UAE, but then be denied re-entry to Kuwait. Being homeless in the summer in UAE with no money would be quite the adventure. Returning to Canada would be the only really sane option for her because it would not involve being approved for a visa in a third-party country in which she has no ties and little money to survive on.

Mum has been the word on all this though. I don't think she has even begun to formulate a plan to pull this off, and I don't think Salah s necessarily smart enough to work this out either. There is a third option for her: she could overstay her visa. In that way, she will not be separated from dear habibi. At least, not until she is arrested for overstaying.

So, she had better get used to being separated every three months from Prince Charming because a return trip to Canada is pretty much baked into her situation. She could try the third-party country route, but that will be a lot more complicated, expensive, and risky. Or, she can flat-out overstay. After all, Kuwait is under no obligation to keep letting her in, and most countries won't on the third or fourth try.

It's not even about living in a corrupt country. I've known people that have illegally moved and lived in countries for many years. Granted they aren't a """""celebrity""""" but it's not like it's unheard of for people to be living on expired visas.

Maybe it's different overseas but i don't see how this isn't a thing everywhere.
