US Portland, Oregon Megathread - Tales from The Rose City

Didn't see much of a thread regarding all the fine antics of Portland and the people who live there, so I thought to make one.

Lesbian bar shuts down one week after opening because they weren't woke enough

Doc Marie’s is a lesbian bar that opened on July 1st of this year with the hope of bringing more inclusivity to the city of Portland. But just one week after their grand opening they were forced to shut down because of complaints that the bar was not a “safe space.” Similar to the story I wrote a few weeks ago about the queer-owned cafe in Philadelphia that was shut down by employees for not being woke enough, Doc Marie’s was cannibalized by the woke mob.

The crowd on opening day was huge. One woman said that the line for entry on opening night was “wrapped around the block” with “literally 200 lesbians” waiting to get in.

But the excitement about a new progressive hangout dissipated quickly. Within days, Doc Marie’s found itself on the receiving end of accusations of not being inclusive enough for trans people and people of color. Despite mask mandates being lifted in Portland, patrons accused the bar of not implementing enough COVID safety measures. Patrons also claimed that Doc Marie’s had “culturally appropriative art” on the walls.
One TikToker, who says she attended the grand opening, breaks down the accusations against the bar:

Employees of Doc Marie’s created an Instagram page to echo these concerns. They claimed that the owners weren’t proactive enough in creating a safe space and accused the owners of racism. The employees also demanded that the bar host “free opportunities for education” for the community.

Eventually, the employees demanded the owners relinquish ownership of the bar and hand the business to them. The owners were given a “24-hour deadline” to adhere to the ludicrous demands.

Just five days after opening, the bar announced on July 6th that they had to close temporarily in order to address the cries from the woke mob for a “safe and inclusive space.”

Surrendering to the woke mob doesn’t appear to be working out in Doc Marie’s favor, as the bar remains closed with no public plan to reopen.

Also I think our new lezzie governor is caught up in it as well. Anyway, I hope they all die. The end! (or is it?)

oh no it's just the fucking start, because glowie victim qanon candidates are flooding local elections and riling up the people who otherwise would hold their nose and vote against democrats.

DC knows they could lose OR and WA and it's going to get cray cray and very very ugly here. I expect a legit false flag this summer. and it will probably start a fucking wildfire and burn my fucking house down.

Google Street View doesn't have many images of downtown Portland post-2019 (I wonder why?) but I have decided to attach a couple of images to show how quickly the city has visibly turned into garbage in the span of just a few years. You can go to these intersections and observe other signs of decay.

I know there's the change of weather to account for, but the second comparison is a literal regression of a modern, American city. Even the building in the middle looks like it gained weight!

I'll be amazed if Portland is still standing in ten years time. It looks like a war-torn city that barely survived the aftermath.

The miserable weather does add to desolation but you can see on the links that storefronts have closed up and not replaced, and graffiti is appearing everywhere that hasn't been there before. The second picture, for instance, you can go up to the railroad crossing and find that the gates have even been tagged up.

I tried to show the actual streets in case some retard thought I was just cherry-picking.

I legitimately cannot read /r/portland without getting furious. I have to click off everytime. You see people who are educated and should know better advocating for the death of their own city and they don't even know it. The level of delusion on that sub is incredible. I remember there being a thread about the PPB response time and they claimed proud boys (Why is it always proud boys with them?) had infiltrated the police force and that's why cops weren't showing up to crime scenes anymore. As in the proud boy cops in response to the calling of defunding were doing it out of spite because they hate progressive Portlandians.
I would get upset at them but then I remember these people have a queer kid/relative, and they also have a blue anon mindset that comes from being in basically an environment that's perfect, safe, and white.

What's with the graffiti? Gang infestation?
They stopped prosecuting minor crimes like graffiti, bike theft, shoplifting. I don't think it's gangs so much as it is any random asshole who wants to shit up the city and knows there will not be any consequences. Taggers should get the death penalty imo, its everywhere now and it's totally ruined a bunch of previously nice areas.

It isn't prosecuted and the city doesn't seem to spend money cleaning it, so most every surface in Portland is tagged. I remember seeing on the news during the BLM riots huge groups of people just spraying everything. I have never seen a city as full of graffiti as Portland.

Not only that but if you check the forums for locals you will see that private citizens who are victim to graffiti are getting fined and nagged by the city to clean it up.

They periodically paint over the stuff on public property like the walls along the interstates, but I don't think they do anything about private property.

Really? The walls were absolutely covered when I visited. The only place I've seen it that bad is maybe St. Louis, but at least there's SOME parts of the city there which try and look presentable.

They try to deal with the vandalism (in their own retarded, slow-as-fuck way) but it’s a futile effort.

There’s a Shake Shack being built across the street from Powell’s Books. Construction started only a month or two ago and already it’s had someone chuck a brick through a window and get tagged.

Nobody cares though because “reeee capitalist pigs get what they deserve coming here!”

The Columbia River Gorge is one of the most beautiful places in the entire world, and all the weekend "adventurers", hipster hippies, and Starbucks-sipping environmentalists are "loving it to death".

In Austin we had a similar situation. West of town there is a swimming hole called Hamilton Pool. It became so popular with visitors that it became required for visitors to make reservations in advance.
Even without tourists, the entire Portland/SW Washington area's population has exploded, it's so fucking crowded and traffic-jammed. Every little bit of land in every suburb within a hundred miles bought up, trees butchered, and packed with cookie cutter houses and strip malls. The last 20-30 years urban sprawl has completely devoured every inch of land and character.
Same with the hills west of Austin. They have been covered with mansions. The whole area has a lot of Juniper trees which have flammable oil. The whole area is overdue for a burn so any lighting strike or down power line could spell disaster.
Funny, I’d say that Portland was the model for Austin, Texas.
All these far left cities were canaries in the coal mine for becoming the messes that they are today.

The one black person in Portland commits a crime again, surprising no one.
