"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

I have some “vintage” MATI clips
The site is definitely important now

And a call from a Jew

Rewatching old MATI’s is kinda 'of nostalgic', Reminds me of when I first encountered a MATI archive stream on my youtube recommended in late 2019

After listening at the latest episode of the podcast, I got quite inspired and did what was needed.

I did it for you, @Null!

I'd be curious how TOR-only Farms affects users. It's maybe (literally) decimating active users on the site? So like, 1 in 10 users can figure this shit out? It's interesting to see which threads are active going through the clearnet "droughts".

If someone is unable to work out how to download a browser and click a link, I'm not too bothered with the loss of them and I'm sure most others wouldn't, they probably weren't going to make any sort of useful input.
A lot of farmers were using VPNs anyways given that a lot of UK ISPs started blocking the farms so I'd say most will be savvy enough to transition.

I won't just single out the Beauty Parlour for going quiet during these phases (it's across the board), but I get that a fair chunk of the userbase just doesn't care enough to jump through the hoops involved in getting to a .onion site.

Flip side, I get what @Camo Fox is saying about filtering out the retards.

@HarblMcDavid the accessibility during outages is a great point. It would be really great if the kw.cc fediverse could be decoupled from the forum hardware/network- so if there were outages to the forums, there's an easy, public spot to check for issues. (Or if Elon allowed a twitter account again, but fuck twitter.)

The main issue is making sure people know how to get to the farms on TOR even if they can figure out how to use TOR, the onion URLs aren't exactly easy to commit to memory, that's the easiest point of failure for the casuals when combined with Telegram making it hard to preview the update channel.
On brave you can just bookmark the onion site

Tor accessibility is poor in general.
- Accessing Tor is completely different on every device and Tor Group's documentation is poor for iOS in particular.
- WebAssembly is simply not supported on iOS Tor browsers; you must use Orbot Proxy + your normal browser.
- You may not want to actually use Orbot since it is a proxy for your entire device's traffic, not just the browser.
- If you use the Tor Browser, your password is not carried over.
- If you use the Brave Browser, you cannot reroll new circuits.
- Circuits are very unpredictable and can be blazing fast to barely functional.
- It is not possible to know if the site is slow or if you are on a bad circuit.

Etc. It's no wonder about maybe 20% of people are able to deal with this.
Tor also has, in general, a reputation of being something only used by pedophiles or drug dealers and some people are concerned about implications in downloading it at all. This is superstition but Tor's reputation is far worse than similar privacy tools like cryptocurrencies.

Crypto, IMO, would have about the same rep if it didn't also have the libertarian and 'lol get rich quick to the moon' narratives. But it does have those.

Speed and difficulty are Tor's big problems that are potentially addressable. Being a CP haven it's never going to shake. It is that mostly by design, if not intention.

The password issues are another usability thing - everything from Brave to Tor Browser makes some level of assumption you want to be locked down and you're avoiding state actors. Like, that's not my security needs for the Farms. I just want to access a hidden service and obfuscate my traffic - and the latter is lightly optional since I'm already VPNed on any system I use to access the site anyway.

(And Otis is right, you can request a new circuit on Brave.)

The MATI Matrix room, alongside all the other KF adjacent rooms, has been able to stay up during all the prolonged downtime of the Kiwi Farms homeserver due to the nature of Matrix as a decentralized platform. Someone on there has even setup a bot that reposts every announcement Null makes on Telegram. I really wish people would consider using Matrix instead of signing up for Telegram since it is far more free and reliable.

It is basically totally unmoderated and I think getting people on matrix would be even harder than Telegram.

Has anyone informed "Eat Dirt Drink Bleach" that their consistently off topic, unfunny, irrelevant super chats will not endear them to other viewers or further any para-social relationship with Jersh? You can hear the tired tone in Jersh's voice when he reads them. Read the room bud.
He's a neutral party in the ongoing war for Null's frontal lobe being waged by 40K roleplayers, weebs apprehensively arguing why their anime is the one Null should watch and e-daddy desirers asking Null for life advice. The MATI Superchat Cinematic Universe is an intricate political epic.
