Not to defend the guy, but youtube has a spam filter that will eat comments and it either auto deletes them or holds them for review, so this doesn't 100% mean the comments are being actively deleted, but might be youtube trying to combat spam.

While unlisting his old videos is in his words "a step in the right direction" if he wanted to truly repent he would give away his ill gotten gains to a charity and start new on a fresh channel so he would not have no use the hateful name that got him fame and fortune.
