On today's episode of AITA for being a selfish parent and not thinking about my own offspring:

For once, I'm happy to see that he got assblasted not only by his own children, but also by reddit.
This man did nothing wrong and his kids are whiny entitled fags. His son is a grown ass man, he shouldn't still be living with his parents anyways, especially not in a rural area where housing is usually dirt cheap.

Boomer detected. How many 19 year olds do you think have the capital and income to purchase a house even in a "dirt cheap" area? Let alone can convince the bank to give them a loan?

Edit: I'll admit to being retarded and slightly misinterpreted your statement. Nevertheless, even renting a place is insane even in "cheap" places anymore. Someone in this fellow's shoes would basically have to kiss college goodbye if they were renting even a studio in basically the whole of America.

And living with your parents isn't some obscene or bad thing as an adult. This might be a bit of a shock, but families living together was the norm for most of human history. This idea of kicking the kids out at 18 is a new problem, largely created by the boomers who just want to go back to partying.

There's a huge difference between living at home in the basement and living at home while contributing to the household and doing things outside of the house.

That isn't what's being discussed. Judging by the wording of the reddit post, he has no college education/housing and they're essentially telling him that he's on his own once they move.

Barring a miracle of God, he is going to be living in extreme poverty on a low-paying job because he has no higher education experience. Apartments around the US are fucking expensive (I've never found one in any state that wasn't starting at 1800/mo at the minimum) and a house is straight up out of the question, unless you want to live in a Brazil-style slum.

People who say to Just Live Rural Bro are delusional. Even if you find a "dirt cheap" house, you aren't going to be able to pay for everything on minimum fucking wage like this is the 1920s. There's more that goes into a house than just the down payment, as the OP of the reddit post also seems to miss.

People on this forum really struggle with empathy and it shows. Yes, you have no legal obligation to your child when they become an adult, but as a parent it is your moral duty to take care of them even when the state says you no longer have to. There are plenty of things you have the legal right to do, but morally make you look like a fucking asshole if you do them.

The post comes from reddit so it's probably fake and gay outrage porn anyways, but I see this shit constantly in real life scenarios.

Another post from AITA not sure when they added the H but I think it's dumb

I love this one Matty Walsh is the number one threat to the LGBT community? The comments are full of people saying this is clearly a violent threat and he should be locked up absolute lunacy.

I can't tell if they mean actual violence or "violence" as in "misgendering" someone (aka using the correct pronouns not tranny pronouns).

Plus the "number one threat" to the LGBT community always seems to be changing, I remember when Dear Feeder was called the Final Boss Of Transphobes.

Why does everyone online have such a fuck awful relationship with their parents? I moved into my Dad's spare bedroom because the economy sucks and I'm saving up for my first house.

My dad is fucking thrilled and tells me all the time how much he missed me and how happy he is that we can go fishing and drink beer together.

Yes abusive shitty parents exist but your folks aren't your enemies just because they made you brush your teeth and eat broccoli when you were a kid.

Hell when the boogaloo happens your gaming buddies, or poly orgy group, or your rainbow family or whatever the fuck won't be there for you, you know who will? Your family dude, your family.

Man Americans suck.

1.) For fake internet points
2.) Its ok- good relationship but talk bad to get point 1
3.) The redditor is probably a shitty kid that does not appreciate or understand what the parents did
4.) Divorce and parents having multiple partners
5.) Just shitty parents that make losers that post on reddit

Somehow over the last 50 years the West decided that 18 year olds needed to be kicked out of the house on their birthday and "Make it on their own." It's really weird. Meanwhile, everywhere else the kids stay with mom and dad until married, and help pay off the mortgage and contribute to other investments. This means the family overall has more financial growth, while little Timmy says "Fuck you dad! I'm gonna be a muscian!" and pays $1200 a month to a fat slumlord in the bad part of town while his boomer parents don't learn smart financial investments and waste Timmy's inheritance on 2 RV's, a boat, and a home equity line of credit.

This is why Asian, African and Indian immigrants are doing better then homegrown Westerners. (Also if you can afford to immigrate legally, you;re not doing too bad financially anyway.)

It's called the top down attempt to ruin the family structure. First it started with going away from generations of family living together to everyone separating into 'nuclear families'. Now not even that is a constant.

And selling off that big, mostly empty, probably still on the tail end of a 30 year mortgage family size house and moving into a small condo/townhouse is probably a much better move for any hypothetical inheritance than continuing to maintain an unnecessarily lavish residence. It's what people with sense do.

The youngest kid apparently got the short end of the stick here but maybe he had it coming, too.

The idea of leaving before you're set up is ghastly. I'm lucky I'm a welder, money comes quickly if you know where to look and if you're certified, but if you've been stuck in college for years racking up debt, it's gonna take ages to make that back, much less get married.
