Business Bud Light 24-pack sells for $3.49 - $0.15/beer

Bud Light sales fell for the sixth straight week, industry data shows, amid a boycott that has retailers desperate to unload the unwanted beer.

Since Anheuser-Busch's ill-fated team-up with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, the beer giant's sales have tanked, its stock price is down, and stores have begun marking down Bud Light and other Anheuser-Busch products to get them off their shelves.

Analysts for the trade publication Beer Business Daily, who reviewed Nielsen IQ data, said Bud Light volumes for the week ending May 13 fell 28.4%, following a 27.7% decline the week before.

In at least one store, according to the report, a Bud Light 24-pack was priced as low as $3.49.

Other Anheuser-Busch brands have taken a hit, too, with Budweiser Red volumes down 14.9% for that week and Michelob Ultra down 6.8%.

Competitors are benefiting from the controversy, with Coors Light sales up 16.9% and Miller Lite up 15.1%, according to Beer Business Daily.

The sales catastrophe has prompted Anheuser-Busch to introduce a promotional rebate ahead of Memorial Day weekend. The rebate promises an amount "equivalent to the purchase price of one (1) 15-pack or larger, up to $15" of Bud Light, Budweiser, Budweiser Select or Budweiser Select 55 paid via Anheuser-Busch Digital Prepaid Mastercard.

But since some retailers are selling 15-packs or larger of Budweiser products for under $15, the rebate makes these purchases free, excluding sales tax or any state restrictions.

Beer Business Daily analysts expect more promotions throughout the summer to turn around Budweiser's sales.

"This could be a promotional summer the likes we haven’t seen since after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, where there was so much beer inventory backed up in the trade that it initiated the price war of all price wars," Beer Business Daily said.

The trade publication explained that "large price wars are often sparked by external events—in that case Hurricane Katrina, and in this case Hurricane Mulvaney."

"The only difference this time is the external event is only negatively affecting one brewer," the report said.

Bud Light’s gifting transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney a personalized pack of beer with the influencer's likeness as part of an ad for the company's March Madness contest and to celebrate the year anniversary since Mulvaney began identifying as a woman has cost Anheuser-Busch nearly $19 billion with shares down 14% amid nationwide boycotts of the beer and sales tanking. The S&P 500 has risen 2.5% over the same time period.

Maybe things have changed, but microbreweries mostly just turn out hoppy, dark beers with artsy designs on the bottles and the whole industry is filled with douchebags.
I can't speak for the USA, but all the microbreweries in Australia turn out a decent lager/pilsner/draft style beer, simply because there's always somebody who doesn't like "craft" beer.
There's still a lot of douchebags in the industry, but I think that they've realised that they have to appeal to a broader audience, or they'll be beaten by the big breweries who can put out a couple of "craft" beers and keep their regular customers.

I went to my local grocery store, which is in a blue-ish area and usually crowded (very high volume) and decided to stick my head in the beer section. The only brand that was fully stocked was Bud Light. Every other brand was at least selling based on the gaps in the shelves (it is Memorial Day weekend, after all) but Bud Light was still sitting there without any sign of recent purchases.

At this point I'd like to see a pic of someone buying that shit in the wild and discuss its Physiognomy and Locale.

If anyone spies this please post it. I know I'll be on the case.

I think the biggest mistake wasn't having a pretentious faggot they've never heard of as a marketing partner but, the dumb cunt in marketing who decided to insult her main source of customers for not loving and endorsing some pretentious faggot they've never heard of. I'm glad they fired her I'm glad people are boycotting this tranny bullshit. The average American is just about fed up with men in women's clothing,

Now we just need to get ammo prices down to the same ratio
Probably not in our lifetime, start reloading your own or gradually buy a dedicated stock of ammo over time. Who knows, might get another Sandyhook situation that pumps that box of 9mm 30x per box.

Apparently Budlight has quadruple downed and continued to fund a pride parade? I understand that these sort of arrangements are made well in advanced and it was probably too late to pull out of this one. Still, this is another lesson about what not to do. Don't double down on a controversial subject weeks before a month long event celebrating the group of people your customer base finds as the root cause of said controversy.
Probably late, but in the event I am not:

I wonder what the terms and conditions are of this rebate. I note it says "up to $15", so I'm assuming that if you pay $3.49 for a 24 pack of Bud Light, you'll only get $3.49 rebated. But if there's no limit to the number of rebates you can claim, it'd be tempting to buy some sub-$15 15+ packs, tipping the contents down the drain and then taking the empties back for a refund.

It might also help out the long-suffering distributors and liquor stores that are the real victims of this campaign. Whilst it might not get them their money back, it'll at least free up space in their warehouses and stores to stock beer people actually want to buy.

If nothing else, it'd be a kick in the nuts to AB InBev, who are effectively paying people to get rid of their shitty beer.

Plz don't summon another 2020 shortage upon us lol, I don't want to have to call upon my stash as you've said.

Absolutely suicidal. They can't hide this. They've taken the .38 Special and deepthroated it, holy fuck.

In this situation, space is more valuable than money. Get rid of the old stock to get in shit people actually want. I wonder how this is affecting their grain suppliers, how much they're having to send back or cancel? They're pissing off a lot of farmers.

it's almost cathartic in a way seeing everyone in this thread collectively shitting on bud light. following the downfall of bud light is one of the greatest things I could see in my lifetime. i'll never forget my first introduction to beer. I was hanging with some hicks while out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, where we were totally not operating 4 wheelers under the influence and I'll never forget the taste of lukewarm bud light beer. fuck bud light, yuengling is better
