Diseased Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Am I crazy, or hasn't that happened already? I thought for sure they yanked stuff that said nigger a bunch in them.
Then again, I might be thinking of an individual repo doing it.
I think Microsoft does moderate but also not really. It's impossible to just blanket censor stuff since how the hell do you automatically censor stuff when your automated censor bot censored it's own repo? There's no GitHub reddit jannies running around deleting bullshit, maybe if someone sends a email to stuff, but reddit is special in that jannies are under constant threat from admins that they will be held responsible for anything said on their subreddit. Microsoft doesn't have a tiny army of moderation trannies going through reports because someone used the wrong pronouns. The bar for communication is really low.

Btw, Rosenzweig is one of Marcan's troon buddies who sometimes helps him with graphics rendering stuff for Asahi Linux. This sob piece really riled up the Mastodon troons, lol.

An attack on trans rights is an attack on desktop Linux.
Many of the maintainers solving the hardest problems in FOSS [...] are either trans, or have friends/family who are trans.
If you support software freedom [...] then you *must* reject these attacks on the trans community.
FOSS / Linux bros... not like this. :suffering: :story:

MUH GENOCIDE!

marcan-1.png marcan-2.png
To explain what's happening, Marcan links the "anti-trans legislative risk" map from lolcow Erin Reed. It has Florida as a total No-Go zone for troons... DeSantis is enacting TTD as we speak! :story:

Rosenzweig's sob piece was apparently discussed on HackerNews, and Marcan was NOT pleased that it was taken down (or something). He then asked Ariadne Conill (the gross troon who runs the treehouse.systems Mastodon instance) to block HackerNews links.

Presumably, his next step is to move to Japan, troon out, then fake his death.

I wonder if Hector Martin has weighed in on this yet?
Haven't seen anything from him in regards to the GrapheneOS drama.
He hasn't really said anything about the Rust conference drama either, although he retweeted a bit.

The black guy at the center of the drama is a brony or something, because of course he is...

A Rust conference organizer replied to the black guy, btw. Apologized profusely but refused to name who was responsible for downgrading his keynote speech to a regular talk.

More recent update on the Rust conference drama. Sounds like they're still protecting the person responsible by not naming them. Rust leadership is a total mess.

Re: RustConf drama
Looks like the blame is largely being pushed onto a guy named Josh Triplett, although he basically claims to have just been the middleman who relayed Rust Leadership's "concerns" about the keynote speech to the Rust conference head organizer.
Triplett has stepped down from his leadership position and is no longer going to give a planned talk at the Rust conference. We'll see if that sates the bloodlust, although people are still demanded for heads to roll.

When Github still has leaked source code of Windows (XP, other older OSes and even WRK I believe) and other Microsoft's products just lying around in public repos then I doubt that they will actually bother to moderate Github a lot any time soon.

I recently noticed that the original author of OBS Studio (i.e. what Null and basically everyone else uses for streaming and recording) has changed his Discord and Github profile and also made a new one:

At least he's very reclusive and not obnoxious about it.

least it's open source, but maybe someone should fork/save the source just in case...

in other drama, apparently some top-level suse guys speedran pride month a few days before june and declared conservatives "rotten flesh" on their mailing list while going full reddit janny on any discerning reply. what kicked it off? someone asked to not have the rainbow flag up the whole time on the opensuse subreddit. wew lad.
haven't really looking into it much yet, but might be worth take a glance at for someone else.

of course it's a fucking dutch, what is it with coastal areas going full retard? they're basically the california of europe without the nice weather, tech industry or hollywood. weed I guess...

EDIT:
also, never change reddit...

As the father of a child that came out to be a part of the LHGTBI community: Wanna be a bigot, a homophobe (fear of homosexuality does not exist, being an asshole does), then this community is not for you. If that means loss of users, so be it. Cutting out the rotten flesh is healthy. And needs to be done rather yesterday than tomorrow. Their membership needs to be revoked, they need to be banned, not moderated. The colors are about including people, with full respect for their being who they are. If you can't bring yourself to that, fuck off, find yourself some excluding "community". Don't refer to me as a Board Member. I am a father with 3 children, and I want neither of them to be bigotted like some of you in this thead want. THEY wear the rainbow colors with pride, thanks to themselves and the people accepting/ likeing them for who they are.

Why is it ALWAYS Lain! I mean, I know why, she's basically "omg she's literally me" material for every autistic tech tranny but give my girl a break, she just wanted to vibe :(

It's because she's a cute anime girl written with the problems of a depressed insane male in his twenties or thirties but also the power to change things by controlling tech and reality itself with her mind. For them, it's both validation of them being a woman and a power fantasy as a coder. They want to be that young girl being revered and outright worshipped as a computer god. In reality they're more like that creep who wanted to control her:

Except not thin and with patchier hair. Similar smirk though. Very similar.

Hacker News apparently added a workaround for his referrer block and now Hector wants to ban HN on Asahi Linux entirely. No idea if he means just the project's website or the OS (the latter would be extremely funny tbh).
Either way, completely sane behavior right here. This man is approaching Becky Gerber's levels of being a screeching Karen on the internet.

LOL, Why the fuck is he going on about "muh harassment" and "muh abuse"? Posting links to Hacker News isn't harassment or abuse. This guy is approaching Daniel Micay levels of randomly accusing others of harassment and abuse and providing zero fucking evidence. No wonder he thinks Byuu totally definitely killed himself.

Hecktor is approaching Terry Davis levels of paranoia. Terry was smarter though, and not a faggot.

"Hackernews posters glow in the dark. You can run them over with your car!"

I wonder how he checks the browser history in JS? That sounds like a real privacy issue, I am shocked and disgusted that a GNU/Linux developer is invading my privacy like that, by eavesdropping on my browser history.

I remember him (maybe it was even posted here) being butthurt about people making "mean comments" in HN threads, don't remember exactly but I remember some people there being creeped/weirded out about that retarded Lina vtuber thing.

ETA

Wait, you are right. At first I thought he's doing some `:visited` selector abuse or something, but Firefox and Chrome already prevent that for privacy reasons, don't they?

I'm not actually sure what he's done. If I check the source of any asahilinux.org page, this is the only match for ycombinator / Hacker News (it's what he had previously that HN started circumventing because fuck him), I also can't find any other <script> tags:
HTML:
<script>document.referrer.startsWith("https://news.ycombinator.com")&&(console.log("Hacker News is becoming worse than 4chan. Do better."),document.location="https://google.com")</script>
I initially thought he could be sniffing whether a link to HN turned purple through JS but it turns out that's been patched by browsers long ago. (a)
In the second toot he says "Don't even think about adding a hash to the submit link." By this he might be referring to https://news.ycombinator.com/submit ? Well I visited it (I don't have an account and it just takes you to a login page) and the notice doesn't appear on asahilinux.org for me. Maybe he wrote something that only works in his testing environment and it doesn't actually fucking work in production.

So I might be retarded but I'm really not sure as to what he's done if anything. This could just be the impotent fruitless rage of a manchild on top of an already ultimately impotent and fruitless rage of a manchild.
