Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Nah, please do report dupes. I think we all have the same drop-down menu for reports, it's not a ping.

It's like the only things I ever bother reporting are dupe threads, necros w/o new info (or shitty fake info), double/triple posts, and no article link.

I get it from a categorization standpoint, but my eye started involuntarily twitching at the idea of having to moderate submissions across 6 different news boards.

He's learned to ignore the parts of the site that are properly delegated to others. If he wanted to, he can see all A&N reports in his inbox but he just filters it out 99% of the time because we deal with it for him. If something is worth escalating to his attention, we can and do.

It would fit in any of those locations really, but where it resides is going to color the audience/who frequents it, I think. Use your best judgement, or whatever you feel like. If it's a problem later it can always be moved as one piece.

Yeah I knew that thread existed already but it'd been a few weeks, I was trying to find it and just decided to check the thread and there was null with the link. I think boss just posted the link a bit after you asked here.

That whole story is crazy as hell, so understandable why you were curious about the thread getting locked.

I am announcing a policy change within the A&N section of the thunderdome. As per the thunderdome moderator discussions, we have agreed that the containment portion of the containment threads will extend towards A&N articles. While this will not apply retroactively, moving forward, articles dealing with the subject of a containment thread will be restricted to the containment thread. For example, this effectively means that all articles relating to the Russo-Ukrainian war (or the SMO for the Russians among us) will be constrained to the applicable containment thread. To that end, all articles of that nature must instead comply with the posting requirements of happenings instead of A&N (i.e. do not copy paste articles, or if you must use [private][/private] tags).

If you are unsure if your submission would be in violation of the new policy change, do not hesitate to contact me or any other thunderdome mod. Violations will be dealt with as any other A&N rule violation would be.
