don't forget them smashing up their funko pops!Imagine how many soyjaks are seething and crying right now. Smashing up keyboards. Screaming at their parents.
Where will they go? No one wants them.
I'm not sure if they're going to ever admit how bad Reddit administration tried to screw over /r/the_donald.I find it interesting they're using KIA as precedent. This actually came up BEFORE the AMA hindenfuck.
I can't agree more. It even happens to companies who are part of Silicon Valley - Google and Twitter are deactivated and deleting the data of inactive accounts. If I recall correctly Facebook deletes the messages of those profiles whose families flag as being passed on, so you can't even reminisce on past conversations with them. Can you imagine if YouTube announced that they are deleting videos past a certain age or doesn't meet a view count threshold? I recall reading on some substack that people die three times: when you pass, when your name is last spoken, and when your internet content is wiped from company databases. The spigot of free VC money is down to a trickle and we're on the precipice of seeing what happens when websites not owned by the Silicon Valley tech duumvirate have to start hustling for some cheddar.
Like Facebook? The best thing that could happen is reddit not only fires the tranny jannies, but replaces them with AI moderation. Imagine the sheer level of coping, seething and dilating.
Which is why you should hate both. I'm getting the feeling that some of you kind of like reddit as a platform and want to think these mods just usurped power from the site, but that's simply not true and gives reddit way more credit for being real and organic than it deserves.Yeah it's true but none of this could have been done if the Jannies hadn't been such loyal footsoldiers.
Very little, but the odds are better than whatever the admins are trying to turn reddit into. Honestly, there's a cycle to this shit. And maybe with the changes coming with Youtube and elsewhere, a bubble is popping; it seems that these websites run on hype and venture capital bucks until they become the big thing, stay in the red, and either IPO or change their business model to actually be profitable, and like Digg and Myspace become unusable overnight. I think reddit's admins realized that no matter how much they tried to not Digg themselves into a grave, there just isn't a real path to profitability in a mainstream, traditional social media / aggregator website like Reddit. I think they (spez, etc) want to wash their hands of it soon and move on to something that isn't a dead dog. What kind of odds do you give on the next reddit alternative not being pozzed?
"We need reddit to burn down and a new site to take its place," sure. Does anyone have the balls to say "yeah, we should make a site that earnestly prioritizes freedom of speech?" Especially when globohomo has corrupted that statement into a declaration of partisan affiliation, which tends to negatively influence the burgeoning userbase?
They should just log off forever and touch grass, as the kids say today. So the Reddit mods have no hand. Will any of them try to spin up an alternative? Voat? Discourse? PGP-encrypted mailing lists? World chat in a private World of Warcraft server? Anything? Because all I'm seeing is pre-seething when they all come crawling back.
They’re not safe either, literally just last week Twitch put out draconian new rules limiting non-Twitch-affiliated on-stream advertising and I believe slashing the profit sharing from 70/30 to 50/50. It doesn’t take a PR genius to foresee that this would go down badly, so I have no doubt that the numbers must be fucking dire.we're on the precipice of seeing what happens when websites not owned by the Silicon Valley tech duumvirate have to start hustling for some cheddar
Are you telling me that this guy isn't oozing talent?Spaghetti code and no one currently working there understands what is really going on. I especially hate the java spinner that comes up whenever I try to load the site on my phone.
I imagine the reason the official app is such shit is that there is no one with talent working at reddit. They just expect everyone to funnel content into their precariously placed dumpster.
