While she’s a known liar and I’m very doubtful of her timeline, hyperthyroidism can be treated by a form of radiotherapy; though if she’s presenting it as in any way similar to the gruelling treatments many cancer patients go through then that’s a gross overstatement. Radioactive iodine has nowhere near the same side effects and usually only needs 1 treatment, usually orally. I’m sure it’s scary for people going through it, but it’s not even close to being the same.
