You have to understand, you're dealing with retarded people who are so thoroughly tech inept they believe an IP is the equivalent of holding the true name of a Daemon to use against them, as far as they are concerned technology is magic done by magic IT men.
IPs are really only useful if you are either a lawyer (or competent enough pro se litigant) that you can get customer info from a subpoena. Anyone who uses a VPN probably has an IP that isn't even in their country, and if it really is a no-log IP address, the person seeking information would first have to hire counsel in another country to institute some kind of standing order to monitor that particular user to get a real IP address, and then hire counsel wherever the person they're seeking actually is.
This is generally well above the complexity that a normie can handle. Microsoft or other corporations on that level could probably find you if they were willing to put the resources into it, and even they usually aren't unless you've done something that massively fucked them up.
The other way it might be useful is sometimes IP addresses show up in logs elsewhere (like the few forums that still attach an IP address to posts) and you occasionally will find one connecting to some peculiarly local content. And of course "real" IP addresses give you at least a vague idea where someone is geographically, which if you already have a list of potential hits, can eliminate a lot of those all at once.
Or if someone actually is a real hacker, they might be able to figure something out, or if they're a script kiddy and someone has configured their system in a really dumb way, they might be able to get in and access information on your drive.
And if they're glowies, they probably have a whole arsenal of zero-days that will get past anything you can think of, but if they're glowies, you done goofed. Or you're Edward Snowden.
So IP addresses can be useful if you're actually a professional of some sort who can do things with them, but this fat retarded whore can't do shit.
