I lost track of Brote Lore after his mass deplatforming (though he keeps on keepin' on which is admirable), but my understanding was Circum got fed up at everyone and left. Not sure about the current status. IIRC he was some type of Ukranian or Russian in Ukraine so dead is certainly possible.

A guy in a server I'm on seemingly got a bit mad when I described the rabbit hole of GBVH and reached the part of Snoot Game
Not sure why he got so freaking defensive over this.
Edit: Added one more of his takes, especifically the one about "Gator game they charge money for."
Thats how you know these awards truly are just corporate totally not politically motivated window dressing circle jerking by the fact they hand them out to games that didnt even came out. Its simply "This game appeals to our sensibilities, therefore its already a winner."
They will give the awards to a rainbow colored turd, simply because its colored like a rainbow, even if it smells like shit (cuz it is shit).
Aka, they are desperate for relevancy (maybe even money) and want to appeal to the "gaymers" (not a cringey joke anymore, that is truly what they are).
Its basically a trend, except one backed by EGS and Blackrock so its going to stick around for a while Im afraid.

Im new to the server so I dont think you could even try to call us acquaintances (guy acts like he is "cool and edgy" but the fake brand kind), I could even share his discord/twitter here so people could see he is a 3D animator (more akin to a loser that isnt hired by anyone and is totally not internally pissed about it) but I dont know if I would go that far...(I can DM someone if they ask tho). His words are peak lolcow material, I swear to God. I thought he was just joking at first but, no, he legit got very personal about a game he just learned about it. I explained to him that Snoot Game and Hugi Gator are self aware parodies of the VN genre and GBVH in specifically, but also still had a fair amount of effort for a game that was basically free and he kept throwing those responses. Seems like he really wanted an argument when I already went into the "Okay, he is taking this way too seriously so its time for me to just dismisses like 'But hey, it's fine if it's not your cup of tea', 'If you say so' or 'Its not a big deal'" mode

It actually did take them five years and counting to make GBVH, they had been working two years before Kate Gray was attempted cancelled and left/got fired from the dev team.

Honestly I'd rather read a lower priced VN than ever "experiencing" Goodbye Volcano High. With a visual novel you have a high chance of getting a good story for a relatively low cost compared to most Triple A western releases.
Hell, you can get Katawa Shoujo for absolutely free - an interesting, relatively diverse cast of girls, a story that goes deeper if you read all of the girls' individual routes. The art is good and even though multiple artists worked on the game, the art is extremely consistent in style.
I'll give GBVH a brownie point for some of the music not being totally awful, if a bit milquetoast indie, but I sincerely doubt it is more interesting than any visual novel to come out of Japan, whether it's a doujin that's been fan translated at Duwang levels of English or an official release with english translation made by nintendo fucking treehouse.
I'm not holding my breath on GBVH delivering a 30+ hour experience, unlike the visual novels they attempt to emulate/"surpass".
