I'd say Tumblr was a much larger force in fostering wokeness, and Reddit was a late joiner when everyone else was doing it

I wasn't on Tumblr so maybe its wokeness developed in parrell to Reddit, but I remember it originating at Something Awful and then making it way into Reddit through the "Shit Reddit Says" sub that served as the infection point. After they managed to get stuff like jailbait banned they kicked it into high gear and imo thats when wokeness on the internet really took off.

Spez needs to hurry up and put his goonies in charge of more subbreddits so to stop the hiding of all the somewhat worthwhile knowledge laying around on some of them.

How long until someone actually kills themselves over this? Trannies are used to getting their cunt licked for literally existing.

My position hasn't changed a bit in the last 10 years, yet somehow I've gone from left-leaning to right-leaning without lifting a finger.
Same here. Its crazy to see. 90% of hot takes on kf I wanna roll my eyes at, but I will support y'all's ability to say retarded things til the end of time. It feels odd that, as someone who still leans left, that percentage seems to be going down. Reddit became so radicalized I cant understand how they dont see calling for the death of terfs and republicans doesnt strike them as....being fascist? I just wanted to see some canning recipes yesterday and all the search engines rely heavily on r/canning, which is now private. Fuck em. These mods dont actually care about their socialist values, if they did they would keep the information flowing freely to all. This has been hilarious (and inconvenient at times) to watch unfold.

funko pop collectors feel like a lie the Soviet Union invented to show its citizens how stupid Americans are and how inefficient capitalism is. Like a warning about what will happen if they let people make their own decisions instead of having the bureaucracy do it for them. And then the people turned on them because even people who had been raised on communism couldn't believe such an absurd piece of propaganda.
The last 20 years have felt like a Soviet dead man's switch being flipped. Funko Pops are pure consumerism, the representation of waste and greed; pvc that could have been used in pipes, or at least something cooler like model kits, formed into beanie babies on crystal meth. At the end of the day they end up in the landfill, unrecycled, and the commies can just point at them and laugh

At the very least they're used to having their concerns being taken deathly seriously, rather than subject to withering passive-aggressive putdowns.

Their mods have received the /u/ModCodeOfConduct message, and replied saying they'll only reopen the subreddit if Reddit agrees to halt API pricing changes for six months, lower the target price and reopen negotiations with third party app developers. I'll concede they do seem to provide a bit more value added than e.g. an /r/pics moderator;

Obviously reddit is not going to face a lawsuit if someone gives themselves botulism from fucking up while canning their own beetroot. They have a point, having a bunch of people with experience and expertise in canning having a look through a canning forum for potentially dangerous posts is useful... although Reddit isn't forcing them to leave, this is just them throwing a tantrum over third party apps, and the userbase hopefully will still retain that expertise.

Canning isn't that hard, family has been doing it for years. Once you have the equipment and aren't retarded, you aren't gonna poison yourself, good grief. Learn to farm reddit

I still don't understand how being anti consumerist became a right wing thing. You'd think that hammer and sickle emoji in bio twitter people would find it to be the easiest thing in the world. I find the "you claim to dislike capitalism, yet you have a smart phone" level dunks to be kind of dumb. But at a certain point you should at least feel a certain amount of shame over all the crap you buy.
Too an extent you have to have a cell phone to exist in society nowadays so that could be an extremely thin veiled argument to have it but the idea of them not buying a bunch of things due to them being able to impulse control themselfs is just a lost cause. It's cool to hate capitalism right now beucase things are not going great but when it goes back in the other direction they just cant pick a side and live with it. It's about being cool more than anything.

The smartphone is just one of many examples of how mass production allows for previously unheard of comfort and stability in a large population. In any other economic system, something like this would be totally reserved for upper-class (or “party members” like cars in the Soviet Union)and would basically be a signifier of gentry, but today I see homeless people with them. Would-be communists have a point about living in society but they refuse to acknowledge that in order to live without free-market enterprise our consumption of all goods would drastically go down. No more fast fashion or expensive skincare, no more video game funky pops for redditor soyfags. Ask them what would happen in an apocalyptic event where all this gets shut down and they’d probably just suicide.
I’m not defending corpo garbage either, what with how much power and how woke they all are, but it’s a different beast that needs to be addressed and commies do not have a realistic or beneficial solution.

Usually the dunk is "You have an iphone" which is much different because in thaht case it IS hypocritical. Buy an android. You don't have to support the suicide net factories with a 1200$ gadget that works just as well as a 100$ (relatively) cruelty free one for no reason other than you like the logo on the back.

(Thank god the farms stayed up long enough for me to post this. It was too good of an opportunity to pass up)

So many internet retards are of the "they have a point, but" variety. Maybe they start with with an observation that has some truth to it. But then they immediately run that straight into crazy town.

One of Reddit's most notorious jannies got banned and he threw a shit-flinging tard tantrum in the Reddit mod slack.

For context on who Awkward the Turtle is and why this mongoloid getting banned is especially funny, this video gives a quick overview.

He's currently whining to John Oliver on Twitter hoping to get some coverage for his ban.

"Dr. Canning Science Educator, there's something I've been meaning to ask you, for quite some time. Who the fuck do you think you are?" - Nucky "Spez" Thompson, 2023

if spez wants to take reddit public and maximize profit by getting rid of API's
he needs to purge the power mods now and replace them with people will fall in line.

if he shows the mods mercy now, they will fuck him over later.
im not pro spez, but if he wants to maximize his IPO bonus and make reddit an investible platform, he has to do it now.

jannies will literally line up to do it for free, get abused and ask for seconds. letting jannies think they have any power or rights was a huge mistake.

you will mod the subreddit, you will not be paid and you will be happy.
or you will be purged.

Apparently, blue city subs are going to start censoring crime, urban decay, homelessness, looting, etc. cases because a poster has either a history of posting only negative stories to the cities sub or might not be a resident of the city.

First, this is just burying their heads in the sand.

Second, LA is one of the biggest cities in the US. How do they know a poster does not visit the city regularly, have family in the city, have business / investments in the city, or has temporarily relocated (military, job, college)?

Third, this creates a self selection issue. A person that is liberal or progressive might not even know about the issue. If you post too many crime stories then you risk being banned. If grew up there and moved out (but might move back or have and attachment to the place) banned.

Forth, this shit will never be applied to progressives. If their is a negative story about right wingers commiting crime, you could get a person posting on how they moved to Europe decades ago shitting on the red state and it's allowed.

Posting facts to support an opinion that they dont like is "brigading" and it's "-Phobic", whouda thunk?
