Titanic tourist submersible goes missing with search under way

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
so it's up to Bahamas law whether gross and/or criminal negligence are subject to waiver.
Aren’t all the world’s cruise companies registered in the Bahamas? I’m assuming that’s for a good reason. Maybe easy negligence laws.

“all the women in red can stay”

Even the one at the bottom left of your red circle? Damn bro, are you taking a lot of booze on the trip?

“I'm reminded of that Twilight Zone episode with the submarine”

I need to know which one this is now, and where to find it.

[TOR bent me over on the multi-quote, apologies]

It's mainly a money thing. The country that a ship is registered in ties it to that country's laws. Bahamas has no income tax, no tax on capital gains, no minimum wage rules like the USA, and more I'm sure.

It's a mystery...
I periodically need reminding of how retarded the average person is. Presumably this guy is going to have his mind blown by "How do ships float when they're made of metal, which is heavier than water?".
Its fascinating to me how any ounce of pity is washed away by knowing who the victims are. Such a horrifying way to go and yet people keep memeing these guys all over the place
I don't laugh or not laugh based on political criteria. I laugh because something is funny. Someone using an off-the-shelf game controller as their sole means of control in the harshest environment on earth is inherently funny. It's like that old clip of the DEA nigger shooting himself in the leg while explaining he's the only person professional enough to carry a Glock.
If people say "you can't laugh at these billionaires, you're a reddit communist ghoul" or whatever, they're just being SJWs with reversed politics (like the "cis is a slur" people). I want to go back to laughing at things that are funny, not being a political robot that emits laughter when the appropriate person is targeted.

Anyway, here's the DEA nigger clip (kindly don't queer up the thread with gunsperging from either political point of view and just enjoy the gun's perfect comic timing):

I laugh at these people who died a horrifying death because they were hilarious retards. Redditors gleefully dance on their graves because they hate them for being rich. We are not the same.

They've done over 20 dives with a sub the manufacturer only thought was meant for a single dive.
Repeated stress cycles + extreme cold + insane pressure are the worst things for carbon fiber.
Like Cameron said we use steel for a fucking reason.
It was only a matter of time before the thing imploded.
The fucking porthole was only rated to 1300 meters.
Titanic is 3800.
It's a miracle it lasted as long as it did.
This faggot took the RMS Diversity 3 times deeper than it ever should have gone and he did it more than 20 times more than he should. The only upside is he took a Globohomo Paki who made billions from slave labor with him to hell when his high tech carbon fiber coffin performed as expected.

Steel is one of the greatest achievements of mankind. There's a reason why it's so widely used and reliable. This billionaire r tard thought he knew better and used carbon fiber that was manufactured under the idea that it was a one use item. And that's why five people were turned to raspberry jam at the bottom of the sea.
It looks like a real controller but it's not the one from the RMS Hubris Titan.
It's the wrong type of controller for a start (Also I'm not sure why people keep saying ita an XBox controller, the layout is like a Playstation) and there's no light down there, this looks to have been taken in shallow water. There's a lot of junk I'm the Oceans, sadly.
One of the most cursed images I've ever seen was a picture of fucking plastic coomsoomer trash from the movie Frozen taken at the bottom of fucking Challenger Deep, the literal deepest Abyss on Earth.
That and footage of the fucking plastic scrap garbage island the size of fucking Rhode Island in the middle of the Pacific are enough to make anyone a misanthrope.

Yeah. It's in the shape of a PlayStation controller. It's why I prefer it to my XBox one since that's what I'm more used to. But I guess once someone starts saying XBox it sticks. And if any media is saying it's XBox that's just because they are stupid. You could tell them it's a Nintendo Switch joycon and they'd go with it.

I didn't know about the Frozen tat at the bottom of the sea. But I know about that disgusting garbage island. It's sad what we've done to the Earth.
Other than a few token women that I'm sure he hired to perv on, the group photo of the Oceangate staff seemed to be mostly white dudes.

There were a few women on the Deepsea Challenger team as well, but they looked older. Probably because they actually had years of experience in the field.

He probably let the older women stay because they didn't tell him that his little death capsule might implode. Plus they are women so he can use that to score diversity points. But I also believe that his complaints about 50 year old white guys not being inspirational was pure excuse. He wanted young, naïve yes men who were just happy to be able to work on a Titanic tourist project. Looks great on a resume because it really stands out. The 50 year old white guy who had the audacity to sound the alarm was canned for ruining Stockton Rush's fun.

No one has probably ever told this guy "no". I'm thinking coddled by parents.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockton_Rush

Rush was born into a wealthy family in San Francisco.[2][4] He was the youngest of five children born to Richard Stockton Rush, Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Ellen Rush (née Davies) of San Francisco. His maternal grandfather was Ralph K. Davies. His maternal grandmother, Louise Davies, was a philanthropist and the namesake of the Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco.[5][6] Through his father he was a descendant of two signers of the Declaration of Independence, Richard Stockton and physician Benjamin Rush.[6][2][7]

Baby of the family. Wealthy parents. Father was a descendant of two Declaration of Independence signers. Benjamin Rush even has a state park named after him. Grandparents were notable people. Granny's got a symphony hall named after her. Yeah. This guy was born with a silver spoon stuck up his ass. No one told Baby Stockton "no". And that's why he's crab food at the bottom of the sea.

I'll bet Rush was also a narcissist who thought everything he did was brilliant and couldn't fail. The more I hear about this dude, the more of a piece of shit it sounds like he was.

Like most narcissists, he greatly overestimated his intelligence and competence and became fish food for the trouble.

I assume the family members of the passengers are going to be filling lawsuits against whatever OceanGate leaders are remaining, given literal billionaires and all. Like what happened with FyreFest even though anyone with sense could see it was a disaster in the making.

In my mind the only ones deserving of sympathy is the Paki teen and the Frenchman. The other 3 I hope are burning in hell due to the fact that the 3 were WEF members who gleefully made the lives of the average person more miserable and also gleefully helped take away the rights of the average person. We don't laugh because they are billionaires. We laugh because they are criminals who committed crimes against humanity and seeing a rare moment where these fuck suffer at the hands of their own hubris is justice served.

So they just took it down and survived through dumb fucking luck. This whole thing is a massive shitshow and I'm honestly shocked they didn't die sooner.
Basically.
The fact it lasted this long shows why things are actually overengineered for safety - the porthole rated for 1300 meters went to 3 times that depth over 20 times, with a hull meant for one trip. Its fucking impressive for the manufacturers that it held out this long and shows why in Engineering we always have safety windows for tolerances because when you wing it and cut corners it ends up costing lives.
The problem is the design was basically not fit for purpose for the pressures and stresses it underwent, and the CEO that recklessly took it way past its tolerances on multiple occassions, even sticking his fingers in his ears when his own chief Engineer told him it was a fucking stupid idea.
From Camerons account, Rush had other people in the industry screaming at him that he was being stupid and the lack of certification would kill people, and this faggot just thought he knew better than anyone else.
Its bitterly ironic that its now sitting yards away from a ship famous for being destroyed by the hubris of its creators too.
