Wouldn't trannies want to keep the coomerbait in?
You'd think so, but no. This is the fate of ANY fighting game that comes into contact with these people. nevermind Guilty Gear, which is its own fiasco, It happened to MK with 11, it happened to DOA with 6 with it's cursed "core values" meme hanging over it like a plague, it's currently happening to Street Fighter with 6, and now this.

Also, how's the webcomic coming along?
Artists & writers are taking a lot of breaks it seems lately for some reason which is irritating the fans.
If you don't mind losing your sanity, you can read some lulz in the replies in the link above.
Since I can't edit the post anymore, ignore this comment. I originally posted Twitter link but it didn't work & I forgot to delete this part.

People on twitter are hating those dreaded "capital-G gamers" for making their voices heard.

Only if that coomerbait furry dickgirl on loli gang rape.

You have to keep in mind, anything that might be sexually appealing to the dreaded straight white male must be shamed and purged according to these people. They only care about their own fetish material.

I'm surprised there are still people playing the game in the first place. i would have figured a mass exodus would have taken place once the fanservice (pretty much the whole point of the game) was taken away while being replaced by a tourneyfag furry (sonicfox) whom the devs went full defense mode for and banned any mod that made an attempt to remove him from the game.
I guess I'm just tiny sad about the whole thing.
I really did enjoy the game at one point and occasionally do still play it for fun.
But I've known that it has no future and accepted that it's basically dead for quite some time.
Oh well.

As many of you know, Skullgirls has had a long and colorful history shaped by a variety of contributors over the years. As we look ahead towards the future of Skullgirls, we have reflected upon past decisions regarding certain content that has undermined the many things that make Skullgirls truly unique and special.
Just want to highlight the absolute gall of this quote at the beginning of the update post. As if what made Skullgirls unique and special, from an art direction, wasn't that it was high-quality, Western-made risque coomer bait that openly collaborated with renown porn artists like Zone.

It's also difficult to make sense of the censorship proponents celebrating this as making the game less "creepy" or "embarrassing" to play. The game is still obviously a male-targeted coomer bait. The general public perception of the game as that doesn't change. And everyone who cares enough about this game to be invested in its direction are coomers. The pro-censorship people, be it the current devs or their Twitter backers, are just coomers of the "queer" variety, disguising their perversions under the mask of trendy progressive activism.

In the end, besides making Skullgirls deader than it already has been, this stunt just kills confidence in any future Skullgirls project (on the off-chance there's ever going to be one). I can only imagine a bland trainwreck like Indivisible.

- Sexualization shots (i.e. panty shots) have been eliminated. (because apparently you have enough time during matches to look at the character's underware, you fucking pervert) Of course, the cutscene art have been affected as well.
ah yes, the game about girls in barely any fabric fighting each other with erotic but not pornographic poses and fighting stances.
won't stop rule 34 from doing what it does best but in what sence was this warranted? for the younger fighters sure but even then it shouldn't of been allowed in the first place.

They already did that. MikeZ said that SG was finished and people shouldnt be expecting new content.
After that they started a kickstarter for their new game Indivisible that got funded with over a million dollars but it sold poorly and reviews were only ok.
Then they gave SG another shot for whatever reason and here we are.
I meant post Mike Z meltdown. The studio dissolved, reassembled, got the rights to Skullgirls (aka 2nd Encore) and then this is all they have to show for it.

Mike Z probably would have made something new at this point if his studio didn't literally mutiny on him.

Oh great. That means China owns ILLBLEED too.
Indivisible was bad, lol. They somehow messed up every aspect of that game.
It was pretty funny seeing that come out after their previous round of woke posturing and then immediately fall on it's face.

Ps. What didn't you like about Skullgirls's art style?
I thought that some of the faces were a bit weird but otherwise I thought that it was nicely constructed and shaded.
I'm not bothered or anything and "I just don't like it" is a fine answer. I'm just interested.

It's hard to explain, it's like someone drew calarts over anime sketches.

The illustrations look fine, but the thick outlines and the colors don't look good. The eyes look funny too.

Like I said, it's like AI traced over anime with a calarts setting. It looks to me like the topmost detail layer was removed for most characters, and that all the sprites are incomplete drawings where the artist was too lazy to finish.

The light is very amateurish and it gives off this Tumblr/DeviantArt 14yo artist vibes.

- Half-assed pseudo-anime style (a.k.a. 'Wanime', biggest plague ever).
- Hideous color palette typical of Tumblr art.
- Uninspired character design that always looks like a second-rate copy of a much better, superior product.
- Few animated frames delivering the most amateurish of feels.
- Forced 'ecchi' tone that many older doujin games already did better.
- Cancer fanbase blowing out of proportion a less-than-average game (+ Sonicfox cameo).

Also, Indivisible outright steals from PSX's Valkyrie Profile (Tri-Ace, 1999),
an actually beautifully crafted work in character designs, story and overall execution,
which is an additional reason these Tumblr devs get on my nerves.

That stupid "oh, they've tried so hard is worth the applause" stance
most of its (non-gamer) audience has pretty much seals its mediocre fate.

If you will not surpass Atlus' Power Instinct or SNK's Breakers,
let alone Capcom's Street Fighter Alpha, don't waste your time*.

We've all seen the hideous animation of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix,
and this one was made by top-tier professional artists such as Alvin Lee and jo Vriens
which understand the Japanese illustration style and colors better than anyone at Lab Zero games).

UDON talents seem to be the only Western people that have the better chance to -someday- make something good.

TL;DR: Skullgirls looks like the quintaessential Subpar Indie Product that
relies on pity and/or an uninformed Twittard userbase to try and get a place it never deserved.

* I've let Guilty Gear and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax out of the comparisons because honestly,
there's not a chance in hell Skullgirls comes nearly close to those levels of quality.

Actually, that's probably a very important point that I'm missing. I'm not a fighting game player so it wouldn't be obvious to me when they're ripping something off.

While I'm here, I might as well leave this for some nice contrast:

Random tangent I came upon while researching: Does anyone know if Faust from GG or JOKER from Persona 2 came first? They both released in adjacent months in 2000 but the designs are too similar to be a coincidence. Are they both ripping off some famous Japanese thing that I'm unaware of?

Depends on how you view Faust. Dr. Baldhead was in 1998, and he stuck a paper bag on his head afterwards.
