"Used early on" means that someone higher up the totem pole found out that they were playing mind games with applicants, probably because no one was making it to the hiring stage except for talentless losers who were desperate for any kind of work, and forced the team to stop. That also reads like it was written by a Pajeet, a race which is infamous for its presenteeism and quiet quitter-like behavior in the workplace. It makes sense they they would only screen for someone who's willing to show up anywhere, anytime, since that is the highest virtue to them.

Sitting a home is bad! You need to sit at the company cubicle!

I understand wanting people to come to the office, and some people prefer it in fact as it helps make work better. But holy shit this is cope of the highest level.

Expecting applicants, not paid employees, to be on call for any number of tasks from 8AM to at least 11PM is retarded. Calling at 8 just to see if someone answers is especially retarded and would merit a violent reaction.

More entitlement, these faggots think the applicant should be sitting staring at their phone waiting to be graced with a call from someone so GREAT AND MIGHTY as someone who is a Middle Manager or HR.

I'll say this as someone who literally can't do his job at home: depends on the job. If you're a dedicated team working on something critical, meeting up in a office is probably a good idea. If you're doing something basic, it can be a option.
