It isn't even that. Matt is constantly jumping around from persona to persona trying to find one that will stick. Whichever one nets him popularity and support again will be the one that he decides to permanently stick to.
He tried being pro-sjw and bashing the right after he was exposed for the flagging stuff, but it didn't work because most people saw through it and knew what he was really doing. That and because he is boring as fuck.

Whenever I see Matt nowadays he is always bitching about The Critical Drinker and that sphere. I think the only reason he went on Dax's show with Dame Pesos was because Eric July is associated with Drinker. I see Matt say stuff that a pre 2016 Matt would say that question the validity of someone's work, despite not putting out anything himself.

It's primarily this. He's still rather upset than there's nothing that can be done to salvage his old YT channel (which is why he operates on 3 Buck Theater) talking to a different niche of people with a tiny community he's fostered that paypig him regularly. He knows where he fits in, and has come to terms with it, but he's still quite salty about how things turned out overall. Most of the time he's bitching about Friday Night Tights/Nerdrotic and those people in that sphere these days.
