Nothing shows the underlying fallacy of multiculturalism than riots like this.

A city having many different ethnic/cultural groups all living side by side only works if the machine is running along smoothly and everyone has enough to eat. However when shit hits the fan, all the inescapable underlying divisions immediately come to the forefront in the ugliest way possible.

I imagine a lot of the rioters participating in this don't even have a particular hatred or animus against French people or the French state. They are participating because their friends and family members are also participating.

Autistic people who like to think for themselves (the person reading this, because you're on this website) have a hard time understanding this, but the primary moral goal of a human being is to belong to a group. It is very easy for someone who would otherwise be nonviolent to become swept up into the emotion of crowds.

Having trains and buses isn't 15 minute cities. 15 minute cities is when local and national governments create retarded and draconian rules like making it illegal to drive out of your sector of the city/suburb more than a certain number of times a month/year (like Oxford) or banning the private individual ownership of vehicles. Having a pedestrian-friendly area of the city - especially for the sake of historical preservation and/or areas that were built prior to the advent of cars - is understandable and doesn't count. I wouldn't want cars (other than utility and emergency vehicles/vehicles owned by the residents of the area) driving through the ancient walled city of Dubrovnik or Old San Juan. Outside of those designated zones there's little reason to deliberately limit vehicular traffic.

Edit: Having mixed use/moderately dense areas that are able to be navigated without being totally reliant on vehicles (for example, pre-WWII American streetcar suburbs/railway towns or old-school European garden cities) don't count as 15 minute cities either. There's a cozy middle between hyper-suburban American hellsprawl and Chinese-style bughives.
