If it makes it any better this is Juliana's step-father and she was in foster care during her childhood, so I could see Steve as just crazy mom's boyfriend she knew for a few years as a teen before she moved out. I can't see Juliana having a parental bond with Steve given the general circumstances, but I'm sure he's been very important to her mom. Her mom's grief will probably be the hardest part for her, IF she has any empathy which is definitely up for debate. She's good a preforming empathy for strangers on social media, I doubt she actually feels it in IRL for people she knows.

She could be lying, but given what a mess J is and some background she showed a few years ago about her mom when she went home to visit Mass (she did some videos with her mom) I don't doubt the foster home stuff. You don't get a Juliana out of a normal, stable upbringing. She's an hideously obese codependent mess for reasons. (Sort of like Amber Lynn)

Her mom being older now, and maybe more stable on meds, might make her a more normal mom now. But keep in mind Julianna did have to go move her mom and Steve from their house in Mass to Kansas for reasons they kept rather quiet. Steve wasn't sick yet, cancer Dx came like six months or more after they moved to Kansas. Shit is pretty bad if your only lifeline is 600 lb Julianna in a time of need. (Corissa didn't bother to go on J's u-haul journey to fetch her mom either.)

I just imagine a team of Japanese automotive engineers at Toyota or Honda being confronted with a J sized crash test dummy and I can't stop myself giggling at the image. I don't think I've ever seen someone J sized in real life, so I can't imagine the reaction of a bunch of Japanese or Korean auto engineers to such a challenge.

One thing you never understand from the photos is how bad they stink at that size. I've come across a few at J's size, usually in scooters, and they have at least a 10 foot exclusion zone of people around them due to the ghastly odor.
Carissa might be okay because she's still seems somewhat mobile and isn't over 400 lbs. She can still wash and wipe her ass and take baths/showers without assitance. J, however, I can fucking smell just looking at her photos. She's been in disgustingly stanky fat territory for many years now.

I mention this because I saw a woman near J's size the other day, walking for once, but she was only in her early 20's. I only noticed her because of the smell that hit my nose and I looked around to figure out what the hell was making that unbearable smell - it was her. Honestly, I felt disgust but plenty of pity. Everyone in the store avoided her general area due to the smell. Except one person, but I realized this person was "with her" so I figure she was used to the smell or smelled just as bad. The other person was fat, but not 500 lbs, and while she didn't smell good she didn't set off your gag reflex. She was just standard stinky.

It made me think that fat people might think people avoid them or make faces due to "fatphobia" but it's actually due to the terrible odor, not how they look. It's like a gag inducing rotten sweet smell mixed with a huge portion of unwashed ass smell. Losing the ability to properly wipe themselves has terrible results. No fucking rag on a stick is going to clean a dirty ass. The lack of regular soap and water on their ass is the biggest problem. Ass washing with soap and water needs to be daily or every other day thing for good hygiene for anyone, but imagine unwiped ass with ass cheeks so huge that they trap large amounts fecal matter in a moist dark crevass, now add sweat. They also shower a lot less but shit a lot more than the average human so the smell is real fucking nasty. Clothes also quickly absord the smell and seem to amplify it as they walk around. (But I've also noticed that death fat clothes seem to be as unwashed as their bodies.)

Normal fat people don't smell any worse or better than average sized or skinny people. I actually come across more stinky skinny people thanks to all the crazy addicts in my city. But death fats, once they hit a 400 plus level, it's inevitable. This is why they all claim "to shower every day" because they know it's a big problem. But they don't shower everyday, probably not even once a month because it's far to difficult. Maybe they try a half hearted rinse off and wipe some soap where they can reach once a week. A proper shower for a death fat body likes that requires scrubbing between all the fat folds and then powdering them afterwards, and it takes hours to do a proper job and it can only be proper if they have someone helping. Proper showers would be probably the most physical exercise they ever get and be exhausting so they basically avoid it just like they do any form of physical exertion. I also can't imagine it's easy to find someone to help them reach and power fat folds on their back, under their sagging ass cheeks, etc... so I'd bet they almost never get a proper shower that actually gets clean the areas they need cleaned the most.

The show MSHPL always makes a "shower scene" the opening, they apparently even offer an extra $2k to the death fat for the shower. I think this partly done for the noses of the filming crew's benefit. I bet they have to use the stuff under their noses that morgue and ME staff use.

Not sure if steve's stroke was before we went on tor or not, but he hada stroke. And he recently had a fall which broke his hip and femur. J in between posts about meaningless shit complained about forcing her mom to wheel her around the hospital and that they are looking into end of life care. Then J went and ate ice cream.

Steve is actively dying and they are on vigil now. His cancer has spread and has now destroyed his digestive track and has completely blocked it off. I'm glad that Steve is finally in hospice, but I hate how it's only after he is very close to actively dying. I anticipate him passing away by the end of the week. Hell, I'll be stunned if he makes it to the Fourth of July. Once someone, especially a terminal patient, stops eating, the end is very very near.

Fuck Coco for describing his condition in that much detail. It would've been more appropriate to just say that he was in hospice, please keep us in your prayers. No respect for the man whatsoever. I don't know much about Patti, but I'd be horrified to read an update like that about my loved one's condition.

I imagine it's really hard to make rational descions in a situation like this but like you said he should have been in hospice long before this. Ideally once the last treatment stopped working but I think both J and Patti were hoping for a miracle unfortunately that hope only prolonged his suffering.
