These thoughts largely match my own on the matter. I would be happy to extend a hand of friendship to her if I thought for one second that she was sincere.

I don't think anyone here is saying she should be forgiven or suddenly embraced as a right wing figure or anything of the sort. And I do agree with people saying it shouldn't wipe her record clean. I'd certainly recommend taking anything she says at face value, no matter what party lines it aligns with.

The potential "victory" is more along the lines of "hopefully one less liar" out there, maybe mixed with "if she can see the light, so can others." And even then, this is baby steps, like I said before, I think it's a promising start and might mark a notable change, but we'll see what happens.

It's kind of like watching a fire get put out after it burned down half a building. It's good it stopped before the whole building went up, but it doesn't change the fact that a significant amount of damage was still done, and there's ultimately no way to reverse that damage.
