The first episode of Atelier Ryza was pretty good. They changed things a little bit, but I feel like it was an improvement. I hope that the rest of the season is just as good, because I really enjoyed the games.
Do they actually make Ryza likable? Because I recall she started out a bossy, spoiled brat in the beginning and never really got much better.

And then I stopped feeling any sympathy for anyone in Ryza's group after it's revealed that Bos literally did nothing wrong and it's entirely the group's fault why he's been such a shit to them for most of the game.

She's still a bit spoiled and bossy, but I feel like it's been toned down a bit.

Just want to say that Tsugumomo is one of the best drawn and well-detailed manga that changed the story so much when compared to its earlier chapters, and it’s gotten a lot better in the last couple of years.

Case in point:

The fact that Yoshikazu Hamada and his assistants were able to draw this in one sitting while effectively doing a recap over the last 10 chapters of the story is proof that this is a lovely story. Even Trinity Seven comes to mind when changing the story into something that’s not just a harem for the sake of a harem comes into play. Either way, I recommend any of you Kiwis to read this. It’s really good.

I actually liked Ryza for having more interesting personality than the usual Atelier protagonists in the last 10+ years who were all a variance of moe.

I'm 8 episodes into The Faraway Paladin, and I have to say it's surprisingly comfy. The "reincarnated in another world" thing is so played down they could have cut it entirely, the show is visually rock solid with character designs that are perfectly distinctive without being overdone, and the story, at least for the first arc, feels both well thought out and well-executed. easy 9/10 so far.

Just made aware of a new City Hunter entry, incorporating elements of the manga, and the girls from Cat's Eye again.
That's a lot of CG. I realise that CGI vehicles are the norm nowadays, but seeing them in a universe I associate with the late 80s just feels wrong.

Here's the anime you've been waiting for.
You know what? After Batman Ninja I'm pretty down for Japan to do whatever bullshit they want with Western comics. Bit fed up with Harley Quinn, though.

Started watching City Hunter with some friends a while back, couldn't believe that Akira "Motherfucking Kenshiro" Kamiya was this goofy ass motherfucker. I know he played Mendou, but its like that role but on crack. I can't believe there's new City Hunter stuff, knowing how sanitized modern anime can get and how much of a perv Ryo can be at all times. I'm also surprised that Akira Kamiya is still doing the voice even 40 years after the initial anime, what a trooper.

This series from the outset validates null’s opinions about anime.

so it's basically the game's plot? still have it in my backlog and pondering what to watch/play first.

Same writing duo as Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song.
Tappei Nagatsuki is known for writing Re:Zero while Eiji Umehara wrote Chaos;Child.
It'll be interesting to see how they'll go about writing the "crazy" aspect of the Joker and Harley.
It's very funny rn that most of the anime & manga of the big 2 comic companies are somehow better the products specifically coming out of them. Seriously, I actually think this anime might be good from a gimmick perspective alone.

If it's the same creators as Vivy then I'm intrigued for sure, that show was the next Violet Evergarden and it was better.

Doesn't it quite literally devolve into soft core porn as it goes on? I remember liking the panels of the crazy mom getting revived and punching a hole through someone, but it very early is focusing on the 500 year-old loli. It's a shame because the art is really good, but it reminds me of that Touhou artist who's a meme for doing ballbusting porn and rolling with that.
