New details have emerged as the AFL and police investigate a mass online leak of personal and intimate images of elite footballers.

The link featured 45 folders named after past and present players. But it has since been claimed a “majority” of the photos appear doctored to some extent.

“It’s gross,” Jimmy Bartel said on 3AW.

“A majority of images are fake, made-up, staged. This is a criminal matter now.”

The Brownlow medallist and 2023 Hall of Fame inductee said he hoped the “grubby” perpetrator would be caught.

“While it is important to note that some of the images may not be legitimate, this is an appalling and disgusting act and a likely unlawful breach of privacy that is unacceptable,” AFL Players’ Association chief executive Paul Marsh said in a statement.

“We ask the public to treat this matter seriously by not seeking out or sharing any of these photos and respecting the rights and privacy of those impacted.”

The Google Drive folders have since been taken down but not before it was widely shared on social media.

“It’s very sensitive and disappointing for the players to be involved in something like this,” former Essendon captain Jobe Watson said on Sunrise.

“It makes for a difficult situation for the players (and) family members.

““There’s a lot of people who this directly affects and there’s no level of proof on who it actually is or who the images are about.

“It’s more about throwing things out there and leaving everyone else to clean up with it and the effect it has on people’s lives and families.”

Watson told Sunrise of the education players received about social media but acknowledged the challenges faced even while communicating with trusted friends.

“Once something leaves your phone it becomes in the public domain even if you think it is to a private message. You do lose control of that,” he said of the advice to AFL players.

“There was a real education piece on how to handle that and to be careful about what you do provide to other people, because you don’t know where it then gets sent off.

“Unfortunately it is part of society and you do not have any control once it leaves your private phone.”

The AFL said “many of the images” had not been verified for identification.

The league’s integrity unit alerted authorities, including police in various states and the eSafety Commissioner.

“There appears to have been significant work involved in gathering the images and creating files for distribution,” the AFL said in a statement.

“The AFL has no information regarding why the personal images have been circulated illegally and without consent or what the motive is in doing so.

“The AFL asks everyone to please respect the rights and privacy of those past and present players who have had personal images illegally shared without their consent or approval.

“AFLIU has contacted the eSafety Commissioner and is working closely with eSafety to have the images removed as soon as possible.”

There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by players, who have been offered fresh support from the AFL and AFLPA.

"There were pictures of footballers putting their penises into the bonus holes of non-plus-sized birthing people over the age of consent. It was disgusting! This is not the kind of activity, nor artistic endeavour the UK or its people endorse. Nor will we tolerate it. Arrests WILL be made."

You might want to work out what the afl is first, there, sport, it's not British. The /au/ in the filename could be a giveaway, just sayin'...

Also, Fuck Collingwood. They are a trash team.

@Pee Cola get your hoes out of my face.

Come on now, you can't expect people to actually read the fucking articles in A+N.
Look, If you're Australian, especially if you're below the Barassi line, all those names make sense. Still, I've literally seen a & n articles before where people think the Australian ABC is the U.S ABC and started their yank culture war partisan bullshit.

@Your Starter for 10, sorry if I was smug but it's about Australia.

So where are they? All I could find is Corey Wagner’s dick pic from 8 years ago.
I can't find it on any of the private torrent sites either.

Weird. I think it must just be someone's private shit being leaked, or it could be another one of those "these dumbfucks finally found the hidden repository of their dick pics from 8 years ago when they got paid to get a blowjob and now feel bad cuz porn."

4chan archive with some good information - apparently there were a LOT of asshole pics. No one commented that anything looks doctored or photo-shopped.

Google drive with the names (folders are all empty)
