Bigot Brigade Something Awful and Friends - The roller-coaster train-wreck embarrassing downfall of a Web 1.0 giant and its tick offspring like from Cloverfield

That's the bizarre part I remember most about the Jimmy Savile Megathread that started when his pedo shit all came to light.

The thing that seemed to piss off the mods most wasn't Savile's deeds, it was all the Britgoons talking about how something always just seemed "off" about the guy.

I don't remember which mod it was, but one popped into the thread to make clear that "NO, you DID NOT suspect him, NOBODY DID, there's NO way you could have, and from here on, anyone saying so is gone."

Just a fucking odd thing to do in that thread. Felt like major projection for the staff's handling of the whole Aatrek thing really.
Why the fuck did they have Jimmy Savile thread before it turned out he was a pedo?

There's no real allegory because the US has so many talking heads, but Savile WAS British domestic TV for a long ass time.

If its the 90s and you had a forum about Chicago, people are going to have a thread about Michael Jordan.

IIRC there was a minor thread about him made after his death, but it didn't really take off until the pedo stuff came out a bit after that.
The whole "GBS not RSS" thing also meant that threads about anything newsworthy survived at the whims of the mods.

Substantial proportion of these Ponygoons also ended up trooning out down the road as well. Take that as you will. At least the weebs of Badgame ended up being the only real remnant of original SA culture but then again, they detached from the rest of SA almost completely in 2011.

Badgame seemed to want to keep a really low profile, to the point that I remember a thread on there with posters chastising each other for even mentioning badgame on another offsite...I always found that a bit eyebrow raising.

I had an account just so I could read their terrible webcomics thread, but sometime in the last couple years those faggots did a forced password reset & required an admin to re-approve your account afterwards - which I'm guessing was mostly a way to get rid of random lurkers like me.

It's very understandable for them to do so. The last thing they need is more attention from random goon groups who want to take a swing at a private internet forum for the crime of making fun of bad videogames that just happen to have an "important" message.

Didn't he migrate to Bread and Roses at one point?
I think he may have been on there. Pretty sure he was one of the founders/admins of SKULLMUND but ended up trooning and turning on his co-founders which led to that forum dissolving.

He was a member here too, posted in this thread, maybe the Lowtax thread too. Can't remember what event sent a bunch of goons over here at once, maybe the Shmorky drama? But whatever sent those goons here, he was one of them. His name here was @boner_saint

Wasnt skullmund a "dad gay so what" containment site? I tried to read it a few times and all they did was yell about corn

All I remember was a few goons managed to buy an abandoned fishing forum from a guy and converted it into skullmund.

Boner Saint kept talking about it here, so I checked it out and yeah, it was full of cringe forced memes about corn, and spergs calling each other cornboys.

I didn't get it.

Yeah. For the 70s, 80s, and 90s he was everywhere on British television. Like children in hospitals that he visited, you couldn't get away from him.
