While I never had the stomach for Telegram(and couldn't have faced sucking up/playing the part enough to get an invite) I've been watching the Cambodian 'Cleantube' side of things for a long time and feel like I can explain the dynamic going on at the Angkor Wat complex fairly well.
I'm so happy KF has been fucking these people up for a while. Simultaneously, I'm furious at myself for not finding this sooner. I've been browsing the farms for AMBERLYNN FUCKING REID on occasion. This is something actually worth my time.
As someone who's been watching monkey vids online(the normal, cute kind) since probably 2015, I can maybe add a little more information to the Cambodian side of things, which is kind of where it all began IMO.
(Important note: "VO" was first a term that sprung up as a general descriptor for the people who made a living filming monkeys in Cambodia. At first it just meant that, and is still used by clueless/harmless viewers. I wouldn't consider it evidence that someone is a MFer unless combined with obvious monkeyfuckery. Saw it mentioned and thought I should clarify)
The first VO was a guy called Socchun Ley
FB because why not? Don't trust him; he isn't an Indonesian butcher-for-hire but I'm certain he has helped orchestrate injuries/"rescues" for views. Maybe he had pure intentions at first but he leaned into the dark side. His incredibly distinctive voice can be heard at the timestamp in the screenshot of this video:
"Janet" the monkey got both hands "caught in a snare" and tied behind her back, in a bag, which was left suspended in a tree. By the time she was "miraculously found" by cameramen hours later, the skin on her hands was completely necrotic. She was taken in for "medical treatment" which consisted of roughly debriding her hands with iodine multiple times a day on film. Janet did eventually recover, after losing the tips of her fingers, and was released to her mother(which was filmed and posted as a heartwarming clip to great acclaim and views).
The man actually being filmed in the VO is another ex-kingpin, called Song Mara. He no longer makes YouTube videos that I can tell but he did a lot of shady shit in his day.
He initially made wholesome videos, following one particular troop of long tail macaques on the grounds of Angkor called the Amari troop. His viewers gave the monkeys names, and kept up with their day-to-day lives. All the cute moments and babies growing up and dramatic fights and shit; like a daily documentary-slash-soap opera.
One in particular was a monkey fans loved - or loved to hate - SweetPea(some of you may recognise this name from chatlogs) . SweetPea was fat, and spoiled, and threw hilarious tantrums in order to get his mother's attention. He cried so much and so often that he damaged his vocal chords and made a grating "hooooonk" noise rather than the typical sweet macaque "cooo". His mother always relented to her ridiculous son's demands. So as you can imagine, he was the embodiment of all the monkeyfuckers hated. They still can't get over him. He remains in their torture fantasies. I wish my ex thought about me as much as they think of SweetPea.
As the views and money climbed for Socchun, so did the number of VOs. His friends and neighbours were fucking mango farmers; their kids hawked knickknacks to tourists instead of going to school fulltime; they lived in rickety pagodas with shitty Huawei phones ... and there was Socchun, making "bank"(comparatively) with a DSLR and a brand new iPhone, doing the equivalent of filming pigeons in the local park. Like has been stated before it was a gold rush. People started flooding to Angkor with any recording device they could get. Those people told their friends, and cousins, and facebook friends who asked where their new money was coming from. They quickly figured out that A: SweetPea is the most famous/infamous monkey to film B: injury sells, especially injury to SweetPea. His dedicated fans would comment their concerns about him. His dedicated despisers would comment how much they enjoyed seeing it.
Things were the wild west from then on. Socchunn fell off and was no longer The Guy. There were literally dozens of cameramen all filming in SweetPea's troop, and in an adjacent rival troop(Amber troop). The cameramen would continually instigate conflict between Amber and Amari. They would deliberately feed low ranking monkeys in front of higher ranks to get them attacked(a specialty).
This is probably worth a whole other post, but the VOs started to form different cliques or "teams" led by one particular VO, almost like the front man of a band. Some VOs seemed to have authority over particular monkeys and had exclusive rights to first videos of them, should anything dramatic be going on with them. There were rumors in the comment section of intense rivalry, and even claims some VO's dog was killed for challenging authority or questioning treatment of the monkeys. God I wish I had screenshots, but I'm afraid you'll just have to trust me bro on those rumors. Anyway, I wanted to introduce you guys to one of the bitches that does the most harm to the monkeys at Angkor. As a team, she and her husband are one of the top Angkor VOs, no question.
INTRODUCING SAREOUN KUNTHEA - "ANGKOR'S ANGEL"
Kunthea, better known as Kunt, is a fetal alcohol syndrome-lookin' bitch with a cold stare and a passion for hurting animals in ways she can plausibly deny.
She poses as a benevolent mother figure to the monkeys - posting videos of her feeding strays, hugging orphans, sheltering outcast monkeys from the rain under her umbrella. But in reality, she is knowingly exploiting and hurting them.
Notice how some of these monkeys are blonde; not long-tailed macaques? These are Northern Pigtail Macaques, which did not live in the area unti recently. Kunt, her husband, and their broader crew have been systematically buying poached Pigtail monkeys over the years, with the specific intent to later abandon them at Angkor for filming purposes. This serves two functions: they can first anonymously film the baby on a second channel for the cutebabymonkey/diaper diddler views. Once it's old enough, it's dumped at Angkor into the huge troop of 20+ abandoned pets to be filmed on their primary channel. Many, many have died being killed by dogs, or hit by cars, or savaged by the tougher wild monkeys.
This is where Konthea inserts herself. She has multiple acts she does for videos.
She very obviously favors one baby and subtly riles up the other, until they attack out of jealousy and frustration. She then restrains the baby being attacked, stopping it from escaping, while half-heartedly "protesting" to the attaking monkey (depicted in the first and third video in above screenshot)
She cuddles the babies, making them attached to her - some of these babies used to be hers - then repeatedly, abruptly throws them to the ground to make them scream in fear. Often she does this to make other monkeys annoyed and possibly violent towards the crying baby (video two in screenshot)
She hugs the monkeys, looking like she's petting them ... but then she starts pinching them hard, just out of frame. Their tails, their toes. Making them cry for "no reason". It's subtle, but she has been caught several times. She deleted those videos and has been aggressively striking channels who repost or call her out for it, so I can't find any videos right now, but here's indexed google searches to prove these callout videos did exist I guess

Sorry for length. Hope to come back to call out some of the other really bad VOs. There are so many, and I'm sure lots of them are genuine dudes filming the animals for a couple extra bucks. But the whole entire industry in Angkor and other temples in different provinces of Cambo is just.. a cesspool.
