I dunno man, it's a mix I think. For example, I've said this before possibly in this thread, but almost everyone I've known whose had some kind of eating disorder went to a private girls school and on the other hand of that, every person i knew who went to a private girls school had one. They used to have almost a competition / semi official league with it - there's defo some social cog in it.

A friend is a therapist who worked in a mental hospital. She said the anorexics that were admitted were always middle/upper class white girls. For what that's worth.

If you put her in a summer camp where she had to cook her own food she just wouldn’t eat any food, and a lot of anachans spend an excessive amount of time exercising to burn what little calories she did eat anyway. She needed a stint in eating disorder inpatient followed by a meal plan, a responsible adult willing to make sure she actually ate the food from the meal plan, and a therapist to help her learn healthier coping mechanisms for the negative feelings resulting from eating. And I mean a proper therapist, not a “gender affirming” groomer one.

I got to watch this happen when a friend intervened with his sibling's daughter since sibling didn't notice she had a problem.

The touching grass part needed to have happened from birth. It's preventative care. What you're describing it what my friend had to see through. Brutal, but it worked.
