Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

No, incitement of hatred is only a crime if it's done against a "protected" (privileged) class, such as blacks and LGBT alphabet people. Cyclists are not (yet) a privileged class in this law, mostly because it's widely agreed you can choose to not be a cyclist.
I don't think the Redditors understand that, like how smashing out the guy's window would've dramatically weakened their case, not made it better, because now his lawyer could argue that they were violent and going to make him a statistic if he didn't get the hell out of there.

If they smashed my window in, that's when the gun in the glove compartment comes out, full stop. These idiots don't understand how much repairs cost. Just to get a sensor replaced, it was well north of 600 dollars. Fuck them so much

And then one month later, exactly 0%, because Biden banned all imports. (a)
While the Redditor is stupid, this statistic is likewise unfair. US doesn't count the land of origin (for oil and gas, it does for other imports), only the land they received the oil from. What Russia has done since the start of the sanctions (in regards to Oil and Gas) is sell it to, and in many cases, through Ukraine, Baltics, Turkey, China, India, Japan, Hungary, and maybe some other countries I am blanking on on the moment (there was at least one in middle east, I think). Russia was never a large part of US oil demand (in part because US can always just drill more in Texas, and in part because they prefer to make oil deals with the Middle East). US imports of Russian oil is likely negligible, but they likely exist.

At that point in time especially, we were still tapping our own reserves like no tomorrow. And don't forget Alaska either, practically the entire state is run on oil money.

Weird how being self-sufficient as a state is an evil nowadays.
Funny, right? Its the bugman mindset, down to relying on the bus system to shuttle you around. They can't fathom creating our own energy, owning a car, or even owning a movie on disc. It's not "convenient" enough.

Cars are the reason malls died in America guys, not digital platforms like Amazon. Oh wait they are but actually it's cars fault anyways because you have to drive there.

I love finding these retards in the wild because they all repeat the same talking point that you need cars to get literally anywhere, as if 10 minutes in a car is some massive hassle. Malls died because the economy went bottom up in 07 and everyone stopped spending as much and have never recovered from that, not because people hate driving. If people hate driving as much as these guys like to claim, then there would be a lot of pressure to build busses and trains literally everywhere, but of course these idiots will never understand the logistics and cost of that and thing you can just make them appear with the snap of a finger.

Most mall deaths are due to poor local economies.

There are plenty of booming car-dependent malls in the US in places with strong economies and there are plenty of dead high streets and malls in poorer areas of Europe.

Apparently Singapore is bikephobic:

By "restricting cyclists" he means "making them follow the rules of the road":

SINGAPORE - A total of 26 road cyclists were fined for breaching the rule on cycling group size during an enforcement operation by officers from the Traffic Police (TP) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

The operation was conducted from June 24 till July 8, TP and LTA said in a statement on Friday.

A fine of $150 is meted out for road cyclists who flout the rule on group size, which limits cyclists to a group of 10 in two rows, or five if riding in a single file.

The fine is also issued for cyclists who beat the red light, ride on expressways, or ride abreast of another cyclist along single-lane roads and bus lanes during the bus lane operational hours.

The higher fine amount, which came into effect on Jan 1, 2022, is double the previous amount of $75.

Besides issuing the fines, the officers also conducted education outreach to raise awareness on cycling rules and guidelines.

The commander of TP, Senior Assistant Commissioner Daniel Tan, said: “This enforcement operation is part of TP’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on errant cyclists. Cycling rules are put in place to ensure the safety of all cyclists and road users.”

TP said that they will continue to conduct enforcement operations against errant cyclists.

They also advised cyclists to abide by the rules and guidelines for their own safety and the safety of other road users:
  • Obey all traffic signals and travel in the same direction as the flow of traffic.
  • Wear a helmet when cycling on roads.
  • Ride close to the far left edge of the road and allow traffic to overtake you safely.
  • Cycle in a single file on single-lane roads and on bus lanes during operational hours.
  • When riding in the dark, a front white light and rear red light should be switched on.
  • When bicycle lanes are available, they should be used and not other parts of the roadway.
  • Do not use mobile devices while cycling.
  • Do not cycle on expressways, in road tunnels or on selected viaducts such as the Tuas viaduct.

Singapore, despite having massive taxes on car-ownership, is actually carbrained because it's faster to drive than take public transport:

They're also unhappy with the quality of bike lanes:

These are the "poor quality" bike paths:

SINGAPORE - Cyclists will have an easier time getting around in areas such as Bukit Merah, Telok Blangah, Kallang and the city when new cycling paths are completed from next year.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Monday has called a tender to build 20km of new cycling paths in the city and city fringe areas.

This marks the start of the phased construction of cycling paths in the central region, contributing to an estimated total of 150km that will be ready by 2030, subject to the results of LTA’s feasibility studies.

The 20km of paths, which will be progressively completed from next year, will improve connectivity to amenities, including transport nodes like MRT stations, schools and neighbourhood centres, said LTA.

Additional tenders for cycling paths in other areas, including the west of Singapore, are in the works and details will be shared when ready, LTA added.

According to tender documents seen by The Straits Times, there will be about 6.9km of new cycling paths built in Bukit Merah, 6.8km in Kallang, 5km in the city, and 1.3km in Bukit Timah, amounting to a total of 20km of new paths which will be added progressively to the island’s cycling path network.

The new paths in Bukit Merah are spread out across West Coast Highway from Alexandra Road to Sentosa Gateway Tunnel, in the neighbourhoods of Tiong Bahru and Redhill, along Jalan Bukit Merah and a stretch of Keppel Road near the Marina Coastal Expressway exit.

In the Kallang area, the new paths include a connecting stretch between Boon Keng and Geylang Bahru, another from Bendemeer to Lavender, and one that connects Sims Avenue to Mountbatten Road.

Within the city, the new paths are located in the vicinity of Newton, 313@Somerset, Great World City, Clarke Quay, Farrer Park, Maxwell, Gardens by the Bay, together with a connecting stretch from Shenton Way to Marina Boulevard.

In Bukit Timah, the new paths link residences in the area to amenities located along Toh Tuck Road and Jalan Jurong Kechil.

According to tender documents, the contract is expected to last 18 months, with an expected delivery date of Dec 31, 2025.

This latest cycling path expansion comes on the heels of an earlier LTA tender in January to build new paths in seven towns in the east and north-east, which are expected to improve cycling links in estates such as Geylang, Serangoon, Sengkang, Hougang and Marine Parade.

Elsewhere, 14.5km of new cycling paths have been completed in Ang Mo Kio, Bishan and Toa Payoh. Another 3.5km of paths in Bishan will be ready this year.

LTA plans to expand the islandwide cycling network to 1,300km by 2030.

Co-founder of recreational cycling group Love Cycling SG Francis Chu, who regularly cycles in the Kallang area, welcomed the new paths as he said the current footpaths along Upper Boon Keng Road are very narrow, while some are damaged by the growth of tree roots.

The new cycling paths will significantly improve pedestrians’ safety and cyclists’ commuting experience, he added.

Mr Chu suggested further prioritising cyclists’ safety in designing these new paths, as some of the current ones are fragmented and require cyclists to give way to cars at road intersections. He added that LTA can consider constructing narrower road turns, as these will encourage cars to slow down and check for cyclists and pedestrians before turning.

Citing a new cycling path along Telok Blangah Road – between Henderson Road and Seah Im Road – as an example, he noted that cyclists travelling along that stretch will have to slow down or stop 17 times within a short distance of 0.7km, just to give way to cars.

Member of recumbent cycling group Laidback HPV SG Greg Choong, who often cycles to the city area from Bukit Timah, said the new cycling paths do not offer seamless connecting routes into the Central Business District (CBD).

He added that there are no direct links for cyclists coming from major arterial routes like the Rail Corridor towards the CBD, which prevents them from reaching the CBD safely in a fuss-free manner.

I don't know why governments even bother trying to make cyclists happy. They'll never be happy no matter how much infrastructure you build for them.

Train prices were often higher than cheap flights, and of course, longer, even if you didn't have to pay extra to take a shit.
Train stations are far less of a ballache than airports are, so even if the train is more expensive than a cheap flight you also don't need to deal with all the bullshit you have to go though when you're in an airport. Though on the other hand airports do have armed security which drastically reduces the chance of a random chimp event, so I guess it evens out.
Compared to other rail lines elsewhere, how bad of a flop is Skyline so far?
It shouldn't have been opened this early, the line doesn't cover anywhere near enough to justify the running costs.
Yeah, and high-speed rail is cheap! China totally isn't going into debt for their HSR and California totally doesn't have a hundred billion dollars of cost overruns!
Something to note is that people always talk about high speed rail but never about low speed commuter rail despite it being far more useful and not ridiculously expsensive, but there's no prestige to be gained from making Sprinters instead of Shinkansens.
Soon they'll replace the plastic tent by a solid material to increase safety and aerodynamism. Then add an engine?
All this does it tell me that there's clearly a market for tiny cargo vehicles in heavily urbanised areas.

Imagine thinking that politicians can't make commuter rail expensive.

The aforementioned Hawaii project is LIGHT rail; supposedly the cheapest form of rail transit. Seattle is spending around a billion dollars a mile for its light rail system ($53.8 billion for 62 miles of rail was the original budget and they're not coming in on budget). NYC spent $4.45 billion for 1.8 miles of subway and plans to spend another $6 billion on the next 1.5 miles of the line. Virginia (and DC/Maryland/Federal Taxpayers) spent $6.8 billion for a 23 mile long commuter rail line built in a highway median from Dulles Airport to the Potomac River (the rest of the line uses existing track).

Practically every modern passenger rail project in the US is crazy expensive. The only somewhat affordable one I can think of is Dallas-Fort Worth's Silver line which "only" cost $2 billion for 26 miles of rail, but it's still under construction so who knows how much the final price will balloon to.

For comparison, it cost $2.8 billion to add five lanes in each direction to the Katy freeway for 12 miles.

Supporting ridiculous cargo bikes that are the size of a car:

This is mega late, and I don't know why I randomly started thinking about this again. I came to the realization you can only ride these things on flat ground. Never mind going uphill, assuming it's an e-bike or something with power assist. How the fuck do you safely go down hill with this thing. Unless I'm missing something I only see a disc brake on the back of this thing. Assuming this "bike" is fully loaded with beer inside those containers that amount of weight is not going to be stopped with those tiny cable disk brakes.

At least she had the sense to load the cargo in the front instead of the back so in case she goes down a hill and rams into a wall the weight of those kegs don't crush her.

They're also revealing that most zoom-zooms have no conception of masculinity whatsoever. If they did there's no way they would ever try to force me onto some rickety piece of shit cargo bike in the name of masculinity. Besides that, I thought masculinity was supposed to be a bad thing. Or is it like Christianity where it's good so long as you can use it to manipulate people into doing what you want? Typical lefty behavior, take the shaming and leave everything else.
Insecurity can be expressed by hypercompensation and contrarianism. This is the latter in its purest.

>he doesnt know you could switch gears on the bike to slow down when going down hill

The aforementioned Hawaii project is LIGHT rail; supposedly the cheapest form of rail transit.
That's also an elevated system built in a pre-existing urban area, the fact that you have to build the entire network on top of a bridge vastly increases the cost of tracklaying compared to just putting it on some flat gound. And subways are often even worse since you have to build the whole thing underground which is even more expensive. Pic related is the Washington Silver Line, which appears to have a not insignificant amount of elevated track.

>he doesnt know you could switch gears on the bike to slow down when going down hill
No you can't, if you're going downhill the only thing stopping you is a source of friction and unless there's something with a lot of resistance on the end of that geartrain then you're going to be shit out of luck.

Thank you, quaawaa this is the most I've laughed this week. There is too much milk to unpack with this dude.
Damn this guy is ticking a bunch of different boxes, when I found that gay Funko pop collecting basement dweller I thought I had found the ultimate specimen. But here we have:
> Jogger
> fare evader
> cheapskate
> DUDE WEED
> Want boyfriend free white woman

It may help to feed off the energy you get when people say "Isn't that dangerous? Aren't you scared?" Yeah it is dangerous, and yeah it is scary, but I eat danger for breakfast and wash it down with a mug of fear, and then I get on my e scooter and e scoot to work. Play up the rebel identity. You're tougher and cooler than those car driving normies.
:story:
I definitely got that from women before though. More so in "professional, prestigious" cities. I found a smaller city in a flyover state and I get much more love here.
Again, :story:.
I'm pretty sure those women were laughing at him, but he's too autistic to take the hint.

She is not a bad person, She has been dealt a crappy hand and I see why she is outwardly mean. I feel her and I truly do care for this woman,
I could make her a fuckbuddy and CashApp her $100 after we fuck, but i don't want her to use me and ghost me after.
I care about this woman, so anyway how do I get this ho to be my personal fuckbuddy without spending any actual money on her and having her leaving?

I don't know why governments even bother trying to make cyclists happy. They'll never be happy no matter how much infrastructure you build for them.
At this point I'm convinced even if everyone bends knee, bans cars, and turns everything into bike lanes, they will whine about how they can't walk anywhere safely with all the congested bikes everywhere and demand everyone just walk everywhere.
