It's not gonna last and Ralph is gonna fuck it up but, all the same, I wish him luck in trying to get the killstream back to its glory days. The stream today was fun and I'd like to see more in the same vein. The online sphere/sektur/whatever you want to call it has been fucking dire in the past 2/3 years and any change is welcome change, especially if it means getting closer to the old show, which I remember being good.
Does that mean I suddenly think Ralph is a good person and I'm ready to guard the gunt and sweep his chat? Fuck no. But if he puts on an entertaining show, I'll watch it.
In fact, I'll go further and say that the opposite mindset of trying to force WWE-esque babyface morality narratives into online content is part of what soured the milk and why the "sektur" has been so fucking miserable to watch. In the same way that just because John Cena is a good guy who respects the troops or whatever doesn't actually translate to him being able to win in a real fight, I don't see the point in pretending that Ralph being a shitbag means a good show isn't a good show.
Case in point: the numerous attempts at the "Mundane Matt redemption arc". Matt Jarbo is probably an okay guy, he seems a lot less online these days and he works a real job and is in his kid's lives, good for him, unironically. He is probably a better person than Ethan Ralph. That seemed to be the sole reasoning behind pushing him. But, no matter how nice a guy he is, there is one thing he never will be and that is entertaining. Yet, there was a time where every few months or so, some E-celeb would try and dig up that boulder and try to "redemption arc" Matt again. It failed every time, because no sane person on Earth can ever be entertained by Mundane Matt.
But, despite it always failing, it was always tried. I think the reason for this was trying to force a morality-centred mindset into what is ultimately mindless, ghoulish, trashy entertainment. It'd be just as gay and retarded if after the Chris-chan arrest people tried resuscitating the stand-up comedy career of Anthony Logatto every 6 months, even after it bombed every set.
Look, I just want my online trash TV to be more Jerry Springer than gay soap opera and so I'll hold out hope that I can have another good stream to watch. Good luck Ralph, with your brain chemistry you'll fucking need it.
