Sheryl Crow has criticised fellow country artist Jason Aldean for “promoting violence” in his controversial new song.

On Friday (14 July), Aldean released the music video for his song “Try That In A Small Town”. While the song was originally released in May, it garnered attention as the accompanying video dropped, showing Aldean performing in front of a courthouse with an American flag hanging from the entrance and images of protesters fighting with police officers.

The song was criticised for its allusion to gun ownership and use, particularly as Aldean, 46, performed at Route 91 Festival in 2017, the site of the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in US history, which left 60 dead and 400 injured.

On Tuesday (18 July), it was pulled from Country Music Television, although the broadcaster did not provide a reason for its decision.

After Aldean responded to critics, saying any suggestions the song is “pro-lynching” are “meritless” and “dangerous”, Crow, 61, became the latest musician to speak out against the country star.

Tagging Aldean directly, the “All I Wanna Do” singer wrote: “@Jason_Aldean I’m from a small town. Even people in small towns are sick of violence.

“There’s nothing small-town or American about promoting violence. You should know that better than anyone having survived a mass shooting.”

Crow concluded her tweet: “This is not American or small town-like. It’s just lame.”

The Independent has contacted Aldean’s representatives for comment.

In “Try That In A Small Town”, Aldean sings a warning to people causing trouble and attacking law enforcement in the narrator’s neighbourhood.

“Cuss out a cop, spit in his face / Stomp on the flag and light it up / Yeah, ya think you’re tough,” the lyrics read. “Well, try that in a small town / See how far ya make it down the road.”

After the song was removed from Country Music Television, Aldean released a statement on Twitter on Tuesday.

“In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests,” he wrote, adding: “These references are not only meritless, but dangerous.

“There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage – and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music – this one goes too far.”

Aldean continued: “‘Try That In A Small Town’, for me, refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief. Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences.”

Isn't that the entire point of the song? That trying to start shit in a small town is a bad idea because they won't put up with violence like the city does?

I really can't figure out how these people are reading these painfully straightforward lyrics and concluding that the message is "crime good". Maybe Sheryl Crow has Alzheimer's.

Niggers rap about doing drugs, selling drugs, killing people in a variety ways, raping and fucking various types of women from prostitutes to other people's mothers but the moment a white guy sings about capping a nigga, oy vey, the goyim are becoming too emboldened and we can't have that.

The guys of American Thinker added more on the table about that song.

Progs outraged and Country Music Television censors song by country music superstar Jason Aldean

By Thomas Lifson

Bowing to the politically correct progressive censors, Country Music Television has pulled from broadcast the newest release by one of the true superstars of the genre. Billboard broke the story Tuesday:
CMT has pulled Jason Aldean’s incendiary video for his new single, “Try That In a Small Town.”
The visual, which his label Broken Bow Records/BMG, released on Friday (July 14), was in rotation on CMT through Sunday (July 16), playing in the morning music video hours. It is unclear how many times CMT played the video before pulling it on Monday. Other than confirming the outlet had yanked the video, CMT declined to comment on the decision to cease playing the clip.
The video, which has received more than 346,000 views on YouTube since its release, features Aldean performing in front of courthouse with an American flag hanging from the entrance. The performance is interspersed with footage of a flag burning, protesters screaming and attacking police in various scenarios, and robbing a convenience store. It’s unclear where the footage was taken from, but at one point, a Fox News chyron appears with the words “state of emergency declared in Georgia.” Aldean is from Macon, Ga.
As of the time of this writing, 16 hours after Billboard’s story, the views on YouTube totaled 842,000. Because Google, the owner of YouTube, likes to censor conservatives, a Rumble video is embedded below, and you can take 3 minutes to see for yourself if the video is “incendiary” or “racist” or merely expresses view consistent with your values.

It's also true, out here in SW Ohio, since the county prosecutor for the county that Cincinnati's in actually threatened to prosecute the Antifags and their assorted riff raff and meant it, a few of them decided to go protest at the first real rural town down Route 129, Bethel, for some reason. The sheriff went on Facebook to tell everyone to be on their best behavior, there were more than a few Iron Horsemen who lived out there and he and his three deputies couldn't protect the protestors if they started shit. People with AR-15s showed up, there was a small scuffle and some chick got her protest sign grabbed, but people behaved and no got their asses beat too much.

Still a mystery to me why they picked Bethel. It's a two stop light town, there's about three black people in the township and they've never had a race problem as far as anyone can tell. Clermont County isn't quite the Fuck Around and Find Out part of SW Ohio, that's Butler County, but I wouldn't start shit there either.

Apparently there was a lynching in front of the courthouse where Aldean filmed most of the scenes from this music video, which is why people are claiming this song that came out back in May is suddenly a pro-lynching anthem. On one hand, Aldean is a cunt who has never lived in an actual small town and his current wife started as his mistress. On the other hand, leftists still don't understand that bad publicity is still publicity and conservatives want to own the libs any chance they get, so the inevitable success of this song will make me laugh.
