Regardless how fucked this election is going to be, in a strange way I'm anticipating it as much as I did the 2016 one. Not in the same way as feeling that same energy or vibe, but just because I want to see how the drama plays out. Worst case scenario the Uniparty get everything to go as planned and it is incredibly boring, and we just get a bunch of fiddlers ignoring the country getting more on fire

If Trump somehow is denied the Republican nomination there is chance he still runs and the vote ends up getting split so a situation similar to the ones that happened in 1912 and 1996 occurs which possibly would mean 4 more years of Joe Biden in 2024.

On the other hand, if he gets the nomination, there's a chance bags and bags and bags of votes just keep appearing in swing states until they all flip blue.

While on a biblical level Pilate committed a sin, when you look at it Machivallieanly, he didn't have much of a choice. Think about it, he's the governor of a relatively unstable province who has to appease the ruling priestly elite. If he let Jesus go, the Pharisees could have spun that into a story to get an anti-Roman mob assembled and start a revolt.

If I remember correctly, my Bible teacher had said that Pilate already had issues dealing with the Jews before. I think it was something along the lines of provoking a riot or something by parading some kind of pagan imagery through their territory, and the possibility of another upset could have landed him in hot water, although it looks like there may have been other incidents. Is anyone familiar with the history regarding this? I'm not certain if everything I said is accurate.

It's definitely not from the Bible, since Pilate only shows up during the Passion segment of the gospel afaik, maybe from an apocryphal or non-Christian source, probably Josephus. It does sound believeable though. Doing festivals like that was a standard part of the Roman bread and circuses treatment, and was often done at the personal expense of public figures. This would certainly have pissed the Jews off. Even more so if it was a festival for a deified Emperor. The fact that Jews and later Christians would not participate and even sometimes disrupt these festivals made them more disliked and seen as suspicious and traitorous by the Romans, who saw it as a part of civic life. Your teacher might have been talking about the Roman administration in general.
Regardless, we agreed to stop the religious circlejerk, so stop talking about it.

Niggas can give you rainbows but you have a point. The thing about such a escalation is that it becomes absolutely trivial to fall into a feedback loop and simply keep making things worse.

It's the equivalent of "You kill a terrorist by bombing his village hut, half of the village is dead, and now the other half join the cause. For one dead terrorist you now have 20 more." The attempts to clamp down on the MAGA movement Trump started have only succeeded in making his followers double down, because the actions of The Powers That Be show them to be afraid and full of contempt towards it. The Jan 6th false flag was supposed to be a Final Solution to the MAGA Question in their heads, allowing them to simply arrest Trump over it and get it over and done. All it did was backfire into making more people than ever distrust the Fed.
