I dunno, this is literally happening right now.
SDCC is a sprawling convention with millions of attendees. If you are willing to pay for a room or a table, they'll have you. AM though will pay for you to attend and fluff your ego as if you were a real big time celeb. As opposed to SDCC, where nameless parasites like "CAMELOT331" and "Chrissy Mayr" are completely free to attend but will have to do it on their own dime and must compete for attention against people who actually enjoy and are involved with comics/manga/pop culture. Which I imagine is the real difference.
Perhaps I should clarify what I mean by "guest."
Back in my day, at least, there were different classes of badge holders. I imagine it's much the same now. We differentiated "attendees paying for space" (like artist alley) and "guests" (sometimes "guests of honor"). The former group would either be given a normal guest badge, or maybe an exhibitor one. I'm not saying any of them couldn't
attend SDCC and pay to do something extra there. Just that... like you say... they're not gonna be treated like the guests that convention pays for and promotes as a draw.
Circling back to what I said earlier, I can't see any of the people AM is treating as guests being treated the same manner at a lot of other cons. That's my point.
He thinks that people with those thoughts need to take measures to keep themselves away from children.
Which, again, is pretty much Masterson's position. Remember what he said to Null back in 2020?
(Timestamped to 15:10)
He starts by saying how he draws a line between thought and action. He then goes on to say it's hard for pedos to control their addiction, but they need to be treated with kindness while being kept away from children. He even mentions the Nick would be doing the "Christian thing" by adopting this stance.
Null's counter-position is a bit more... brutal... unforgiving.
Dollars to donuts Nick is adopting the stance he is because of Dick. It might be a some generic MAP sympathetic position as well, but it's one Dick has held for a long time now.
I took it as the lolbert NAP take on the issue.
It's a silly position in general, but I think it's a particularly dangerous one if you have kids.
By the way, when did Nick join the YT mafia?
He's been in it for a while now. You're probably noticing it more now because a lot of the participants are experiencing a downtrend in popularity. Nick's numbers are flagging. Dick's numbers have been flagging for even longer. Ralph got kicked off another platform. Etc. They seem to be banding together for mutual support in their trying times.
