Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

Here's the fun part, I actually am, and found that out the hard way. I can handle being in a grocery store maybe an hour max before I get overloaded. That's how it is.
I'm a certified autistic and my first job was in a large IT helpdesk. Literally one of the worst possible jobs a weirdo who can hardly talk to people could possibly have and yet I worked in that place for years until I could finally move on up.

You're just a fat lazy cunt who would rather sit around and complain about how the world doesn't reshape to fit your needs. It pisses me off so much how people like you squander your one life sitting in a fucking NEET dungeon when the world is at your fingertips. You're not blind, right? You're not deaf? You can walk? GET A FUCKING JOB OR KILL YOURSELF

Jason Slaughter once again complains about people "especially on reddit" who complain about his tone, and doubles down because according to him he gets more money and views by acting like a whiny faggot.
tone1.png

Multiple times he explicitly acknowledges that it's not conservatives who complain, but cycling advocates.
tone2.png
tone7.png

He believes that the US and Florida is "literally falling into fascism" and that the Overton window is shifting right:
tone3.png

Tells the "whingers" to watch something else:
tone4.png

Likes the fact that he closed his own subreddit even though it was his literal hugbox for years:
tone5.png

Says taking a stronger tone supposedly converts more people:
tone6.png

Bonus, a little bit of climate sperging - unsurprisingly he doesn't say anything about nuclear - and a weird insistence on using "murder" to describe traffic deaths.
tone8.png
I like his "people are literally being murdered on North American streets" comment. It's so generic it applies to niggers shooting people, but he's talking about cars killing people. Ironically enough, he would be the tone police himself here and say I shouldn't say nigger.

Basically he's saying he'll continue to be a lolcow producing lolmilk for years to come. Fine by me, I get to keep posting his content in this thread.

The HSR will have too many stops for partially that reason. The middle part has no functional public transit in the cities or between them. The north end (SF Bay) is pretty decent. LA not so much but better than the rural valley.
Ah, so it's being developed by a bunch of idiots who don't understand the concept of feeder lines or why high speed rail is only used to connect major cities. I know that low speed DMU commuter lines aren't fancy pants shit that makes redditors coom but they're ubiquitous for a very good reason, and without them I doubt that most mainline services would be used anywhere near as much as they could be, though in fairness I could see how that fact would be lost on people whose only knowledge of rail travel is theoretical and whose plans mainly exist to create headlines rather than actually solving the problems they're purporting to address.

It's just part and parcel of living in a big city.

The reason why the landowners are opposed to the HSR line but don’t mind the highway is because the highway is actually useful to them while the rail line splits their land in two just so that some far away people who hate them can ride a choo choo train instead of taking a plane. A farmer can drive a tractor on the frontage road and use the highway to get into town, but the high speed train is never stopping in the middle of their farm.

Someone actually tried to tell them that (presumably because the thread hit /r/all):

I grew up in a house that practically next door to a rail line and you can definitely hear it, luckily it was only a rural commuter line running single tracks but when you're backing onto a dual track that's dealing with long, high speed trainsets that shit's going to be loud, but who doesn't want to hear this all day.
And on the note of stroads, pretty much any car made in the last 20 or so years is practically silent from the outside, I can only tell that one's coming from the tyre sound since the engine's so muffled whereas with the DMUs at my local station I can sometimes faintly hear them just by crossing the road in front of where I live.

It's called being a mentally ill autist with limited work abilities.

At this point if I wanted to drive again I'd also have to take driving lessons, which is more shit I can't afford. I only ever learned to drive in the first place because friends taught me in my early 20s, which is another issue. Not everyone is even able to learn to drive in the first place, since not everyone has parents able or willing to teach them and relying on friends can be a crapshoot. Strict car dependence comes with a lot of legit issues, whether you want to accept it or not.
Those are a lot of words to say I'm a useless neet who doesn't want to take the five minutes and put up with retail bullshit like everyone else because you're a special little snowflake.

It is though. Unless you want to pay for it. I can't afford a couple hundred-thousand bucks every single month.

Not all of us can afford a car, especially with the cost of living continuing to rise exponentially. The idea of everyone being required to be paypigs for car/oil/insurance/etc companies is a bit fucked as well. Thems the breaks.
Not everyone can afford a nice car, but learning how to fix things on your own and buying a cheap old junker you can do basic maintenance on or buying an used Toyota or Ford isn't that hard either or that expensive.
I found out the hard way I can't work in grocery stores or any similar sensory hellzones. Walmart is a no-go, even shopping there is difficult and something I can only do if I limit how much time I'm in the store.

Being able to afford a car is a privilege not everyone has. Cars can be great but they shouldn't be the only option, especially not with boomers continuing to age and inevitably loose their ability to drive at some point (not all have kids who are able or willing to be their unpaid chauffeurs. Are you?).
Sensory no go zones, that's a lot of words to say I can't handle a job because I'm mentally a weak moron.

I was 6 so no, wasn't exactly my choice. I remember being pretty unhappy about that choice actually.

Fast food sucks for everyone but some of us have sensory issues that mean those jobs are neverending meltdowns and stress-induced psychosis. It's like telling someone in a wheelchair to just work construction. In fact, I strongly suspect the sensory unfriendly nature of starter jobs is a big factor in why most autists are unemployed.
Only Atlanta proper itself (which is getting more expensive by the day), and you have to call a day ahead for that shit and pray it arrives on time since I've heard of those vans being hours late (to the point of working disabled people being threatened with getting fired because they keep being late because the vans can't get there anywhere near on time).
Again you're an utterly pathetic individual. Do the world a fucking favor end your own life and save the taxpayers some money. We don't need another bitter spiteful mutant making excuses for why they don't want to handle life.

Like seriously the excuses you're making could fill a basketball court and it's utterly pathetic. I use mass transit and live in the south and don't have a car. You don't see me whining about muh transportation. I get by, if things are that bad then find a different job. But muh sensory overload maybe find a way to start tuning out things and get away from your phone.

Ahistorical bullshit. Railways were pioneered in Great Britain.

I suppose my first mistake was expecting knowledge and understanding from redditors...
You see, they either are stupid, or don't expect a conservative to know much about history. They just see "Ooh old train" and thought we invented it. We made them bigger, but we didn't make them

See, you aren't a asshole despite using public transit. You don't make excuses either and admit you can change your position if you want. She thinks it's impossible. She had one bad experience at a grocery store, so nope, can't have a job. Can't save money apparently either

Look I'm struggling, but I fucking hate people who use all the excuses in the book because they would rather claim anxiety or sensory overload because they got told they can't goof off and had to look busy. It frustrates me to no avail and is infuriating when I see people try to use their disability as a crutch because they don't want to do something that requires effort.

Effort is what it comes down to, and self moderation. If you want good things, work for them. People missing limbs work. As far as i know, she has all hers.

It's a trope of urbanists in general, wanting the government to give them the world so they can play video games all day. Not how life works or should.

Even when I was working, I wasn't making enough to afford a car. When I had a car thats basically where my entire paycheck went.

Cars are expensive and not everyone can afford them. That's why they shouldn't be the only mode of transportation available
Again I live in the south and no one here thinks cars should be the only form of transportation here. You're literally making all the excuses in the world saying I can't handle scanning banana's because I don't want to do something of effort.

>I'm literally too retarded to work even the most basic grunt-level jobs.

>I'm competent enough to propose changes to society that completely remold it around my needs.

My sides are in orbit, this is hilarious.
It's always the I'm too mentally ill to handle a menial job or deal with basic tasks but with my worldview it will be an utter utopia where nothing bad ever happens. Wait no the only time bad things happen is because of racist Nazis and conservatives.

Sounds like a good way to get fired, if you're constantly leaving work to drive people around.
Yeah I'm starting to think you don't have crippling autism and got fired because you decided to blow off work for it being stressful. You're literally crying about sensory overload and eight hours work days when most normal people

Playing Vidya gets boring all day especially when you can't be racist and sexist online because some e girl will get her simps to mass report your account for gamer words.

That being said I just hate the crutch mindset.

Them rednecks will love HSR if we tell them that MURICA pioneered trains:
This is the same as them thinking they can use Christianity to their advantage despite having no reverence for it. "Oh look there's this part of the Bible that says something I interpreted to agree with me on this topic".

Their belief that everyone in the south is a jingoistic redneck that can be tricked like a child into liking something is hilarious. It really shows how bad their sense of the world really is. They really do view the world like some sort of cartoon.

They're not idiots... it's worse... they're politicians. In a corruption based political system like California if you want their vote then you're going to put a stop in their district. Same if you want the people to vote on your multi-billion-dollar-boondoggle.

Here's the population density map, anyone can obviously see which stations should have never been considered.

A farmer can drive a tractor on the frontage road and use the highway to get into town, but the high speed train is never stopping in the middle of their farm.

And it's one thing if your land is split in two, but with HSR you can't even easily cross the tracks meaning you can't get the tractor to that other part of your field so you have to go the long way around, not farm that section or sell the other portion to someone with equipment on that side of the tracks. And when you're cutting through some of the most valuable farmland in the country this is going to cost the government serious money to buy these farmers out.

He gives away the game right here. It's not a major social movement. It's not a social movement. He just wants it to be because that's what all the kool kids are into.

And in fact, cycling advocates have gotten away with millions and millions of public dollars by flying under the radar and showing up at local government meetings without the revolutionary talk. They have gotten law changes at the state level and huge funding carveouts at the federal level.

So I disagree that it's a movement or a social movement. It's pork barrel politics for white dentists LARPing the Tour de France on their extended lunch break and so it's been working. He's wrong on every count.

But it's very telling that he thinks it's a social movement and that he needs to manufacture consent by shifting the Overton window, etc.
And when you're cutting through some of the most valuable farmland in the country this is going to cost the government serious money to buy these farmers out.
Fuck the train, but the farmland there is valuable because these faggots get gubmint water at $3/acre foot for decades

It's funny because urbanists say "cities aren't loud, cars are loud" yet never consider the noise that trains make, especially ones going really fast speeds.
And it's one thing if your land is split in two, but with HSR you can't even easily cross the tracks meaning you can't get the tractor to that other part of your field so you have to go the long way around, not farm that section or sell the other portion to someone with equipment on that side of the tracks.
It's funny because urbanists will complain about highways splitting land in two but never hold rail lines to the same standard.

This feels less like you have a sensory overload issue and more of a I don't want to handle the real world and crawl into my safe space and whine about right wingers.
Which makes me wonder, why the fuck is she even on the farms? Not much of a safe space.
I haven't seen her produce one non-shit take, but I didn't know she was this pathetic

Get a job, wigger

Fuck the train, but the farmland there is valuable because these faggots get gubmint water at $3/acre foot for decades
Given the choice between water for farming versus Los Angeles... I'd choose farming. Even if most of the money is in high-value stuff like nuts and avocados there's still a ton of rice and tomatoes and other useful items.

Nothing useful comes out of LA.
