This is interesting because he also very recently came out as "trans." Hypatia is a company that appears to exist solely to provide opportunities and resources for transwomen.

This sort of thing is meant to pander to HR people at tech companies looking to win PR points by having a "diverse" staff. Usually, at tech jobs, all the execs and engineers are either white or Indian guys. This is because the talent pool for these jobs are almost entirely just white and Indian.
A site like this enables Alex (a white male), to claim he's part of a minority group, and he thinks this will boost his chances of getting hired.
