2. He stopped a couple miles out to record the videos and write some tweets.
3. Gonzo then, blissfully unaware, drove up to the checkpoint on the Ukrainian side in the picture above.
4. The guys on the Ukrainian side typed his name into a computer and it came back with instructions to "ARREST HIM!", upon which he was promptly taken into custody.

I don't see how he could attempt to cross at this location and even come anywhere near the Hungarian border.

I've just been looking at the border with Hungary and it seems it's not as mountainous as I thought. I blame our schooling system for my typical ignorance of Eastern European geography.
From looking at the border on a satellite view, Coach is a retard, theres hundreds of places along that border he could have gotten across quite easily without being noticed if he wasn't fucking stupid and just rolled up to a border post after announcing that he was planning to flee the country.

Granted I've never had to hop a border as a wanted criminal before but it's an entertaining thought experiment in a "How would I do it" kind of way. I spent five minutes skimming around google maps and found this area just southeast of Tiszabecs. It seems so simple to hike across the border in the middle of the night and then either pay a Hungarian to drive you to the nearest hotel/bus stop or have someone meet you there and pick you up. Like am I missing something here?

What I think happened is they realized officially ejecting him from the country or continuing to detain him as a "political prisoner" are both losing propositions. Forcing him to "escape" would deny him the ability to crow like " Ukraine can't handle my redpills!" I would be unsurprised to learn SBU instructed the jailers to give him his documents and "forget" the ankle bracelet. Alternatively letting him bribe them brings USD they can use with no strings attached. Disclosing that this happened before even making it over the border somewhat forces their hand. If that is truly what Ukraine wanted they would be retarded to not have someone monitoring him and ensuring he actually leaves. If they didn't alert the border patrol that he's coming, he's right back to where he can brag about them being unable to handle him. It's not that they cannot do things in a more official manner but this would have been the easiest path for everyone.

Watch his third video, where he hits basically all of these points:

• He knows he's going to a Ukrainian checkpoint, and is simply hoping he's not on some list.
• He thinks Ukraine wants him to leave (hence returning his documents), which is perhaps why he thinks he has a good chance. He also believes conviction is certain if he stays and he is unlikely to survive years in a Ukrainian prison.
• He believes that an international arrest warrant will be issued for him once he has fled, and he won't be safe in most European countries, including Romania. So, no, leaving Ukraine wouldn't (in his view) mean he is out of their grasp. He chose Hungary as most likely to not return him (asylum).
• He considered trying to get into Russia, if there was an access point on the front line where civilians were allowed to pass. But he says that no such spot could be found.
• He discusses at length the prospect of sneaking across a border (such as through an "empty field") and doesn't think it's realistic. He says it will cause all sorts of problems, crossing points are monitored, and so on. He says he looked into it and "it's not as easy as you think." I would tend to agree that without at least a local guide showing how to avoid trouble, it would be extremely risky.

I am not a fan of CRP, find him insufferable, and disagree with him on Ukraine, but I don't think this was a retard play. It's easy to say in hindsight that he shouldn't have tried to cross the border legally, since we know what happened. But he only got one try, and it's hard to argue that it was the wrong choice given what he knew at the time.

I can only imagine how anxious he must have been presenting his passport. The border guards would be jabbering about him in Ukrainian, and after a few minutes he would realize he was completely fucked.

If CPR had learned Russian or Ukrainian, after living there for years, he could have easily gone to some border towns, talked with locals, and found some people that were wise to ways to leave the Ukraine side unfettered. But CRP never bothered to learn the language so he’s the loud obnoxious guy speaking English that makes everyone extra paranoid of having any dealings with him. Add to the fact he has only built up enemies and hatred by loudly cheering on an invading force in the country he was a guest in and most Ukraines who might have helped anyone else navigate across a border, for free or fee, would have happily walked him right over to SBU agents.

THIS. They did want CRP to leave but weren't going to make it as easy as him waltzing through an Ukraine border check on his motorcycle and giving him a thumbs up. He was going to at least have to put in some effort, maybe some hiking and rough living for a few days, to do it. They wanted him riding in the back of truck with some stinky livestock to Romania, not announcing on twitter he was hopping on his hog to ride into Hungary so he could keep cheerleading their invaders.

Also, the degree of retard needed to publicly flaunt on twitter that you are out on bail, court ordered not to leave, but were going to do it anyway was a real galaxy brain move. It's amazing they did let him out on bail, with his papers, TWICE and yet he stayed and even waited until the eve of his trial to leave. CRP must have had no good options in life once he left Ukraine. He was only trying to leave in the face of an impending eight year jail sentence. I get that he might have wanted people know what happened if he got stopped at the border and thrown back in jail, but why not upload it and send it a friend who will then upload the video if he doesn't hear anything within 24-48 hours.

And you're right, his stubborn refusal to learn the language fucked him, it would have been really useful in the event you come to be trying to flee the fucking country.
