Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

I may be a moron, it might be different. Emil Pagliaruno's listed as head writer for both FO4 and Starfield, so we'll see how crappy it gets. I probably won't even get around to playing it before the inevitable script extender and unofficial patches release, Armored Core is more important.

I'll probably pirate it early to see how broken it is, then not actually play it until its 5 dollars on sale for the entire game + dlc, then make a 400 mod load order and then play it for 2 hours and never again. Can't wait to see how long it takes for the OpenMW chads to get assets loaded, they have Skyrim SE working now but not BSA2 that Fallout 4 uses yet because its a full rewrite. At least OpenMW would fix the inevitable loading screen issues.

The only thing that keeps me playing Skyrim a bit is the pre-existing worldbuilding from better games (Morrowind) and the decade of mods to make it bearable.

>muh morrowind
Just keep playing morrowind then faggot. Have your autistic load order and coom to dagoths gyrations instead of continuing to waste time with other shit like a normal person.

Autism must be a hell of a curse

People are actually impressed with that shit? You must legit be retarded.

It's all preendered bs. That's not how the final game is gonna be like or look like.

Still amazed people buy Todd's 1000 planets bullshit. Spore had 100,000 planets qnd they were all the same variation of the same 10 plants, terrain and animals.

Starfield is gonna be shit. It's overhyped goyslop bs. Like any overhyped goyslop, retards are gonna eat it up and tell everyone how amazing it is.
Well, fuck me, I apologize for NOT being surly.

1) All games use bullshot in their marketing and I don't give a shit. If they don't outright lie about graphics then they show deceptively cut footage that's shot like a movie. I'm not retarded enough that I can't infer what the final product would look like, and graphics are not especially important to me in the first place.

2) I don't expect the planet generation to be good and I don't care. I think their 1000 planets is as retarded as No Man's Sky sixty billion gajillion planets. I expect it to be serviceable backgrounds to their handmade parts like the wilderness around a Minecraft structure.

3) I don't care how hyped it is or isn't because I don't get my enjoyment for other nerds jerking it off.

4) I like the NASApunk aesthetic, the starships (specifically being able to seize them in boarding actions, having different ships, what looks like it could feel like a space Pirates!), and some of the story and worldbuilding I've seen.

5) If it's a broken or lousy piece of shit on release I won't buy it?

If making Skyrim more like Morrowind makes it bearable, then fucking wow. MW plays like shit.
Do you retards think I play Morrowind unmodded? I said I modded skyrim to make it bearable, and that the pre-existing worldbuilding that was written from Morrowind is what keeps me actually interested in the world. Nowhere did I say anything about Morrowind having good combat. Fallout has none of the interesting world building that interests me about Elder Scrolls and Fallout 4 can only be carried by its shooting so far, and Starfield seems to be in the same boat.

This is turning into another schizo thread. Again.

If there's no schizo-posting about a Bethesda game, it's not worth playing.

I'm hyped for the game, even with tempered expectations and ~20 years of being (mostly) disappointed by BGS games. As long as it's something of a sandbox I can fuck around in, and the building has been refined from FO4 & F76, then I'll be content.

It'll have goofy writing, lackluster quest chains, and I would be absolutely-shocked if the main quest is memorable. Even with all the issues, Bethesda titles tend to be a comfy weighted blanket.

My guess is that Starfield is probably going to play like a somewhat prettier Empyrion with less freeform construction and more RPG mechanics instead of survival ones. You land on a procedurally-generated planet, you get an assortment of Points of Interest to raid which consist of various prefab dungeons randomly scattered around the map, kill all the enemies, collect the loot, rinse and repeat.

If it turns out vaguely like Pirates! (which is where I care about it letting the player commandeer ships instead of being stuck with one ship) meets Black Flag in space then that is reason enough to get it.

We have this little genre of space autism games, contains what? No Man's Sky, Elite, Star Citizen, EVE, Delta-v Rings of Saturn. Maybe some others I haven't heard of. They all do a somewhat different thing. No Man's Sky is the survival base-building/toy one. Delta-v is indie and is the most realistic (6DF Newtonian). Star Citizen is a scam. EVE is for psychopaths who finish their 12 hour shift at the factory and go home to playact being a CEO with more work than an actual CEO. Elite has some shitty FPS add-on but it's for all purposes just a ship game.

As a narrative singleplayer game with both space and ground gameplay this has a niche to fill that the other game's don't serve.

>not playing X for the REAL autism.
it's a german game after all, better prepare your anus.

I'm also gonna laugh my ass off if even ED's shitty fps parts end up better than starfield. ED even has ground vehicles...

In a world where No Man's Sky, a game that failed in 2016, somehow became good again three years later, and yet Mass Effect Andromeda, Fallout 76, Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield and Star Citizen would go down in history as completely and royally fucked still speaks volumes.

All it speaks for is that people are retards who think that Internet Historian videos are more than things to laugh at. NMS was shit at launch, shit when he put out that video, and is shit now.

And I'll stick up for CP2077. Other than the bugs, which are now basically gone, it's biggest fault was not being as good as Witcher 3.

No Man's Sky added more content, so if you liked the original base game at all then I guess you can say it got improved.

But for me exploration just for the sake of exploration is of no interest, so short of overhauling the core of the game nothing would really make me like it.

No Man's Sky is stable, added pretty much all the content they said they'd add when they did damage control after release, and have kept adding content to the game over the years for the people who do like the game. You are literally a retard if you are sticking up for fucking CDPR, who just fixed a couple bugs and added some stupid lighting effects that do literally nothing about how cringe and shitty their game is, and trashing NMS. Also, Cyberpunk's biggest fault was having shitty and cringe characters and story, not being "not as good as the Witcher 3."

I hope game companies like Hello Games and Grinding Gear Games adding tons of cool content after release will somehow shame Bethesda into adding some extra post-launch content to Starfield. Mods are obviously cool, but so few mods have the same sort of feel as the stuff Bethesda puts out. It's always just a little janky and just seems a little off compared to the base game. Especially with all the rereleases Skyrim got, it's so annoying that they never bothered to add another expansion to the game.
