Because he realized that he peaked. The content that made him famous is now considered taboo by the audience he cultivated, and in order to make those millions he has to toe the line and mince his words.
Now, he could just do the AVGN/Doug Walker thing and realize that's what people want, and see it as a "9 to 5", separating his life from his work, but the problem with his situation is that he over- shares, his wife is directly involved with his work, and he's shackled (shekled) to a political narrative that requires from him his full commitment. He could also just have poor impulse control.

Ninja'd by @Dylan but ironically this is the exact reason why he is so depressed. He is doing absolutely nothing with his life, and this is why depression rates are so high starting so young. People don't do shit, they just lay in bed doomscrolling, eating nothing but garbage, not doing anything actually stimulating for the body or mind, and then they wonder why they feel like shit all the time. And instead of fixing their lifestyle, they just take the fix it all antidepressant!

Good question actually; I was referring to his fall from popularity compared to the golden years of his channel and the start of his podcast.
