DeSantis on Trump’s behavior: Not the way a president ‘should be conducting himself’

Republican presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron Desantis on Friday branded former President Trump’s habit of insulting and belittling his political rivals as “juvenile” and “phony.”

“These insults are so phony,” DeSantis said at WMUR’s “Conversation with the Candidate” event on Friday. “These insults are juvenile. That is not the way a great nation should be conducting itself, that is not the way the President of the United States should be conducting himself.

DeSantis added that while he enjoys debate, he said he won’t attack someone’s appearance. He also claimed he wouldn’t tell his children to do so.

“We have a six, five and a three-year-old,” DeSantis said. “We teach our kids to treat people the way you would want to be treated yourself.”

The Florida governor has been the target of Trump’s insults himself recently, with Trump giving him the nickname of “Ron DeSanctimonious.” In an interview with Piers Morgan in March, DeSantis said he actually likes the nickname.

“I don’t know how to spell the sanctimonious one. I don’t really know what it means, but I kinda like it, it’s long, it’s got a lot of vowels,” DeSantis said at the time.

He also claimed earlier this week that the insults — including being chided as having “no personality” and being a “lousy candidate” for governor — have actually helped him on the campaign trail.

“First of all, I mean, I think a lot of this stuff when he hits me with it with juvenile insults, I think that helps me,” DeSantis told reporters. “I don’t think voters like that. I think they look at it and they realize, like, you know what, that’s not effective. And so I don’t think it’s effective.”

Still, recent polling averages still show Trump as the clear frontrunner in the 2024 GOP race.

Google exists, dumbass.

Sanctimonious is an adjective that means “making a hypocritical show of being morally superior to other people.” We say that someone is sanctimonious if they pretend to be more ethical and pious than everyone else when they're actually no better than those around them.

Well...

so he's going to try to pretend he's so stupid to not know a word anyone who got into college should know?
yeah, that's a fucking brilliant move, meatball, next you can claim pushing a pen as a JAG counts as tacticool combat some more, I'm sure that'll endure you to former military

It seems like LaRonda has looked at the polling predictions and has come to the conclusion that he has to do something, anything, to appeal to voters that stopped voting Republican in the last election. Unless his pudgy, swollen-faced, self can do what Trump could not and steal the election, he will have to say some things he doesn't mean and make promises he has no intention of keeping so he has some kind of hope of bringing moderate voters back to the right. Otherwise we will all be buckled in for another 4 years of Biden as there seems to be no actual competition from the republican party outside of dear LaRonda.

The question will always be, why the hell did he run? Uniparty pushing him, wife screaming that she wants to be like Jackie Kennedy, is he just resmarted? He had the cleanest on-ramp to run after Trump, regardless of how well he might have done in hindsight, but he just threw it away for nothing.

chris christie was popular in 2012 but opted to run in 2016. fail spectacularly in 2016.

barack obama was told to wait his turn after hilary in 2008, possibly in 2016. ran in 2008 anyway and became president.

you have to hit when the iron is hot. desantis problem is he is just uncharismatic and can't excite the room.

a bigger problem for his prospects in 24 is the exceedingly difficult proposition of winning the presidency as a GOP without Florida
I've heard there is a very theoretical way you could win basically every other possible state essentially pulling a inside straight flush, but it's an extremely unlikely path and certainly nothing you would want to bank on.
most governors could dip on their state halfway through the term and it wouldn't hurt them too much in the electoral college, but he would be an a uniquely rough spot to have to go back to the voters you _just_ bailed on and look for them to go to bat for you again

I like the guess that the Uniparty offered him the good shit for his wife's boob cancer.

I rather have that in a president than one who is condescending and passive aggressive to the citizens he is supposed to represent.

You will never be a president. You have no electors, you have no voter support, you have no path to victory. You are a Florida man twisted by dark money and establishment politics into a crude mockery of nature’s perfection.

All the “validation” you get is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back people mock you. Your parents are disgusted and ashamed of you, your “friends” laugh at your ghoulish appearance behind closed doors.

Voters are utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of years of evolution have allowed voters to sniff out frauds with incredible efficiency. Even RINOs who “pass” look uncanny and unnatural to a voter. Your manufactured support is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a few states to vote with you, they'll turn tail and bolt the second they gets a whiff of your artificial, repulsive persona.

You will never be happy. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself it’s going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight.

Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll buy a rope, tie a noose, put it around your neck, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your donors will find you, heartbroken but relieved that they no longer have to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. They’ll bury you without a state funeral, just a paupers grave and a headstone with your name on it, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a loser is buried there. Your body will decay and go back to the dust, and all that will remain of your legacy is a skeleton that is unmistakably Floridian.

This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.

I love how this retard doesn't know he destroyed his entire career in politics and will be looked at as a monumental failure. All you had to do was be governor until '28 and then run. It's just a reminder most politicians are this retarded and short sighted in everything they do, which is why they do more harm than good.

So you're raising your children to be insufferable faggots?

Whats his angle on that insult anyway? Trump is notoriously intolerant of anyone, including his children, being rude to his employees, or really any employee of places he attends. He pulled Jr. aside and tore in to him for being a twat to a staff member in front of customers and that shit made the news. Trump's kids aren't exactly going around committing crimes and are relatively normal for children raised by a billionaire and his socialite brides.
