This basically confirms he's using a PR firm. Those are about as expensive as a good lawyer, so you know Niki is hooking him up with one.

It's really incredible. Fatboy could pay that lawyer money to MAYBE make this shit go away/reduce it to nothing, or he could use that money to pay down the debt, but nope, his fat-rotted brain demands the attention so Piggy is using Quasi's money to fund a media tour.

This is the reasonable explanation, though I have some conspiracy brother counter-points:

1) Probably most importantly, you mention "cursory glance" at documentation. A cursory glance at the data is something a lot of people who end up featured on the farms are loath to do when it suits them, and Taylor is no slouch when it comes to conveniently ignoring things to suit her purposes.

2) It's just involved enough to really get why Fatrick is obviously wrong that he can fool people, something that's been documented a few times. This also works in his favor to fool the intentionally credulous.

3) Modicum of intelligence is a standard we cannot trust where people with threads on the farm (and thus hate the farms) are concerned.

4) Asymmetric warfare against the farms by getting the name negatively associated in even more articles is probably worth it to a list of cows that really hope they're building a wall of butthurt one retarded brick at a time which they think will finally deplatform us permanently, and a few of these people actually do possess the resources to make things like this happen.

Less a counter point, and more a question: what changed which caused Nikki's mom to suddenly take interest in helping Nikki and fat, as compared to what changed which might give the usual suspects motives to suddenly be interested in seeing how many articles they can use to SEO the farms negatively? I'd argue that the deplatforming which did work during DKF has gotten some cows excited which definitely changed in the timeframe we're looking at making targets of opportunity a new frontier worth pursuing, whereas best I can tell, Fatrick's been oinking about swatting for much longer, so what the actual catalyst for Nikki's mom stepping in might be is less clear to me.

christ, imagining Patrick as a "self-defense trainer" is almost impossible to wrap my brain around, and not because my brain is only one one billionth the size of his waistline. i've attended my fair share of shooting and self-defense classes and almost all of them were operated by former LEOs and detectives. the first time i fired a gun i had the most amazing instructor who walked me through everything in less than sixty seconds.

i shudder to think that fatrick has taken anyone's money for that kind of thing. and if he has, he probably called them child while criticizing them. i bet his teaching methods include regular trips to hooli's to build up "brat fat" (as he calls it) on your face and eventually in your gut so that you can absorb bullets of every caliber and then belly bump your foe before sitting on his sternum to liquefy every internal organ.

Someone else is living there now, a young lady who just recently moved in. She passes on Laraby's forwarding address, which happens to be a short jaunt from the old house.

Something I've noticed in Fatrick's writings from Gatecrashers is that he has the fanfiction love for pointless details. Why are we wasting time getting told that Benson went to the victim's old address first, had to be pointed to the new one and then explain why that mistake happened in the first place? It doesn't add to the feel, it doesn't flesh out the narration, it just makes it feel like the writer needed to bloat the word count. Why couldn't we just start with him meeting up the constable, maybe mentioning the oddity of Laraby's address fuck up during a report or something (since, being optimistic, I'm gonna assume that is an actual important detail for the case?)

--E2: If we had time for *Zero Finals*, we have plenty of time for Benson to browbeat a Constable that he specifically requested Theresa to send (why are they called Constables?) and drop those unexplained terms again: *Tau Ceti G* (it's a real OG now!), *the Flip*, *Codes of Conservation*. All of this is meandering and pointless; it is shameless padding.

All Benson asked for was backup as he went to investigate the apartment and possibly question a witness. Why the fuck would the rookie be expected to turn up with casual clothes and trying to hide out? And wouldn't the woman who dispatched him have explained this expectation to him?

--E5: Can't go a hundred words without more bullshit about *Zero Finals*.

I know warrants probably take some time in real life, but I find it odd that a confirmed missing person' case for an important figure that was classed as an immediate emergency call earlier doesn't already give Benson a warrant to search the missing person' apartment more thoroughly.

--E8: We are promptly introduced to *Devorah Feynman*, who snoops for artifacts of human culture like the painting Benson just discovered. We also see some natural use of the *plant* device. I appreciate Devorah already, because she's a plausible character with obvious goals and motivations relating to securing and preserving lost works of authentic art. All in all, pretty good... except for the part about Benson "thinking off-com". This is a contradiction of the *plant's* stated functions.

So, Benson doesn't have a warrant to bypass the missing person's privacy, but a museum curator is allowed to track everyone's google searches and files as well as being able to come down to the scene of a possible crime and take possible evidence from that scene? I'd expect the government to be able to do this, but not a curator. I know they later explain 'The Heist' having an eternal warrant for the retrieval of the lost artifacts, but A) Retrieving stolen property would still be a police matter, not a matter of the people managing where the property is being houses. B) It's also stated this piece isn't even from the collection she's after, so it wouldn't be apart of that warrant. Would have worked better if Benson calls Devorah over himself for her expertise on the painting.

--E9: Devorah conducts an examination and confirms the painting is genuine and likely to have been painted on Earth before the launch of the Ark. Quite a find for someone like her. For something like this, I probably won't include really large images of pages in the future but the whiplash I feel from actually reading something tangible after six or seven pages of aborted Christopher Nolan ideas cannot be understated. Once again, standard stuff, understandable... but as a reminder, it comes after seven pages of disorienting, conflicting subjects. I've already forgotten all the bad jokes, at least.

So, the investigation is paused, yet again, so we can watch a lady explain the process of determining if a painting is real or not and exposit the history of art theft. The only thing gained from this is that Laraby doesn't earn enough money to be getting something this expensive and that this may imply black market connections.

--E4: During his internal monologue on the way meet Director da Silva, Benson laments that the "crewman culture" (uncapitalized proper noun AGAIN... and I argue it NEEDS to be, because the Ark's Crew refer to a specific hierarchy above the 'Cattle', who are the viable population to be unloaded onto the fucking colony!!), that is the Ark's official crewmembers, views watching and playing *Zero Finals* as 'beneath them'. Snooty fuckers! How dare they!

'One would expect', 'The unspoken reason'; my dude, they're scientists who spend all day under a microscope, why would them not being or having any interest in being athletes be at all a surprise?

Naturally, this investigation process is derailed once afuckinggain by *Zero Finals*. I'm pretty sure Blitzball wasn't this intrusive in FFX. But then... but then something extraordinary happens...

FFX made a blitzball an actual weapon in the game, whether that's a supporting argument or a counter argument is up to you.

I don’t know Niki’s mother, but as a wild guess maybe the combination of the ongoing swatting and the fact that possible brothermen do include the mother in text conversations.

She may well be convinced by this that they are behind the swatting and are harassing them by sms.

Fatrick and I assume Niki are close to my age and so I can deduce from that Niki’s mother is going to be the same generation as my own parents.
I know my mother would be alarmed and confused by multiple swattings and texts from people who sound conceivably unhinged.

If she has bought the suing to get their identities to get the police involved, yet it back fired due to section 230 line they are peddling then it makes sense that she would bankroll something like this.

I reiterate that it’s a wild guess, but older people can be convinced of internet related things like this.
Especially if they feel overwhelmed, personally frightened and see evidence of hostile action.

You’re assuming this is a client/agency relationship. I wouldn’t bet on that. Believe it or not, many of those on the professional victim circuit help each other out with media contacts.
