Many many years ago, after the wolf shit but before the tranny shit, I was able to have a long conversation with Matt by chance. I honestly don't remember it besides thinking "this guy is a weirdo but at least he seems sincere", unfortunately after the tranny arc I don't think even that is true anymore. He legit wanted to foster active community for outsiders and was an early adopter of federated social platforms.

I always maintain that if you're literally willing to let a news crew watch you run around in da woods howling that's at least more legit than people who just are furries. That’s just it, if you’re able to talk 1:1 then he’s often reasonable and just seems lost. If the furries had stuck to dress up and howling in the woods then he could have had a relatively normal life and been happy. Once everything became about kinks, purity spiralling and gender bs then it became inevitable that all of the (admittedly weird) joy would be sucked from his life.
