Hector Martin is a Spanish software programmer living in Tokyo, Japan, whose main claim to fame is making Linux, but for Mac laptops. And that's the least weird thing about him.

source (archive)
He first gained notoriety because Sony sued him for hacking the PlayStation 3 in 2011.
Hector was part of a hacker group known as fail0verflow (formerly Team Twiizers), along with another hacker named George Hotz / geohot (who is a bit of a lolcow himself). When geohot posted the private key of the PlayStation 3, Sony sued him and Hector (archive).

Hector Martin was friends with this guy.
Since then, he and fail0verflow have moralized about not being associated with piracy.
source (archive)WiiBrew Wiki said:fail0verflow has always gone out of their way to make clear the point that they do not support nor want anything to do with piracy or pirates.
This is exemplary of the typical kind of moralizing that Hector Martin routinely engages in - and this is him at his tamest.
Being such a self-righteous moral activist for the latest happenings in software and technology, he went as far as aiding in deplatforming this very website.
TEMPORARY EDIT: Since documents have been released likely confirming Byuu's death, I will rewrite this section with an emphasis on how utterly incompetent Hector was in proving that Byuu died. For now, read this with a critical eye and ask yourself what you would believe if you didn't have any info to go off of and the info you did have was seemingly contradictory.
Marcan first gained the attention of the Farms by being directly involved in possibly the worst-faked suicide in Internet history.
It all started on June 26th, 2021, when an American video game emulator developer living in Tokyo, Japan named Byuu / Near posted the following suicide note on Twitter blaming his measly 13-page Kiwi Farms thread, after an email exchange with @Null wasn't in his favor:

source (archive)
Now normally, if somebody actually kills themselves on the Internet for real, you would get confirmation by their family. But that didn't happen in this case.
Instead, Hector Martin published a Google document (archive) claiming to be True & Honest proof that Byuu really killed himself:

source (archive)
You would be forgiven for asking yourself, "who the fuck is Hector and since when was he related to Byuu?" But don't worry, that's the least of the problems with the document. For starters, Hector claims to not even be the primary source himself:
Hector Martin said:Published on behalf of a mutual friend of Near and I, who wishes to remain anonymous for their own protection. -marcan
So this entire document is second-hand. And if you're wondering if that mysterious "mutual friend" has ever come forward on their own after all this time, the answer is no.
Assuming this "anonymous" "mutual friend" isn't just Hector himself, this friend's story has several glaring issues. For example, 90% of the document is dedicated to whinging about Kiwi Farms and its providers (at the time), while barely covering the actual suicide itself, which supposedly took place over a Telegram call. These two quotes are the entirety of the described suicide:
Unknown person said:At 11:45 on Sunday, I was on a phone call with Near. They’d just taken a large overdose of codeine and guanfancine. I saw a photo of the noose.
30 minutes into the call, Les Voyages De L'âme by Alcest started playing at the other end. I wouldn’t hear their voice again.
Unknown person said:Les Voyages De L'âme kept playing on repeat at the other end of the call for another hour.
I couldn’t bring myself to hang up.
That's it. Nothing about calling the police to stop him from neckroping. Nothing about what they talked about on the call. Nothing about even trying to convince him to not go through with it. Apparently this anonymous friend just sat on a call for an hour while he was hanging himself, and did nothing. Sounds like a great friend.
It's also worth noting that overdosing on codeine and guanfacine won't kill you, but it will make you vomit all over the place and lose energy, enough to cast your ability to successfully hang yourself into question.
The rest of the document is Marcan's modus operandi: Constantly accusing the Kiwi Farms of harassment and abuse, when that's against our rules, and there is literally no evidence for this.
Unknown person said:Near was eventually targeted by Kiwi Farms. Members of that website make a sport of preying on the less fortunate
Unknown person said:But Kiwi Farms is relentless. Not to be defeated in their pursuit of utter emotional and psychological destruction, they went after who Near treasured most: their friends.
Unknown person said:To the people of Kiwi Farms, this is a videogame. That the people on the other side of the screen are real makes no difference. They delight in the kill counter going up just like an FPS player would.
They even make reference to the suicide of Chloe Sagal, when his suicide was entirely the fault of the trans community.
Unknown person said:DreamHost, you are the Kiwi Farms domain registrar. CloudFlare, you protect Kiwi Farms against attacks. You both share responsibility in not just Near’s death, but also others, as well as the pain and harassment of thousands more.
Prophetically, DreamHost would be the first to drop us as a result of this and negative social media attention. Then a year later, Cloudflare too.
Ashes to Ashes
Of course, with such a contrived story, and no corroborating evidence, people were doubting it from the second it dropped. That's why to cover up his second-hand lies, Hector Martin started spinning first-hand lies directly from his mouth.
The very first of these lies were that he spoke with the Tokyo police and they confirmed to him that Byuu is totally super duper dead, guys.

source (archive)
The only problem is, this isn't how police work in any country, nevermind one as privacy-conscious as Japan. They don't just tell people who aren't blood-related to someone that they're dead.
But fear not, because Marcan has the perfect solution to this conundrum: Dodging the question - right after admitting that the culture is so strong in Japan that newspapers don't report on private people's deaths!

source (archive)
It's now time for another character to appear in this wacky suicide - Wayne Beckett, who claimed to be his employer in a USA Today article.
source (archive)Alia E. Dastagir (USA Today) said:Wayne Beckett, founder of Hong-Kong-based Datapower Development, said Near, whose full name was David Kirk Ginder, was an employee and confirmed Ginder's death to USA TODAY.
What the article doesn't mention, however, is that @Wayne Beckett signed up for an account here, and claimed in his first post on June 28th, 2021, that that morning police broke in to Byuu's apartment.
I hope you bastards are happy with yourselves! This morning police broke into his apartment and found David had killed himself. Now we have to try and find his parents details to tell them he is dead Fucking funny right?!
Why would police volunteer this information, when it's unnecessary, and if they were to confirm his death, a simple "he is dead" would suffice? It's never explained.
Wayne posted a picture of what is supposedly Byuu's urn.
Congratulations KiwiFarms..
View attachment 2348835

How he got this picture is unclear. Was the urn sent to him? Why would they send it to his boss instead of his family? Did the family send the picture to him? Why would they do that?
This is relevant to Marcan, because Hector Martin acknowledged the above photo of the urn:

source (archive)
So by proxy, he's implicitly supporting all the absurd claims that @Wayne Beckett has made here. Which strains Marcan's credibility, because Wayne said that he somehow has a photo of his fucking corpse for whatever reason?!
I have a photo of his corpse, but to be honest I don't think that would be kind to his loved ones. No doubt you would say it is photoshopped
It's never been posted, of course.
The State Department List
So to recap, we have:- A suicide note from Byuu blaming harassment he has no evidence of.
- A Google document from Hector Martin, second-hand, saying someone was on a Telegram call with him for 30 minutes while he was committing suicide and conspicuously does not say anything about trying to stop him. Hector also claims he spoke face-to-face with a Japanese police detective, but gave no good reason to why they would confirm someone's death to someone not blood-related.
- Wayne Beckett's word cited in a USA Today article, who is the same guy who posted a picture of his alleged urn when there's no good reason for him to have such a thing, and also claimed he has a picture of the corpse for some reason, which he never posted.
- Absolutely nothing from a family member or next of kin, no death certificate, no obituary, and no news article that primarily relies on a person who isn't Hector or Wayne.
So this is not the best evidence, to say the least. But surely there will be something that would provide incontrovertible proof. Something that both Kiwi Farmers and Hector Martin can agree to.
Well, look no further than the list of U.S. Citizen Deaths Overseas, provisioned at taxpayer expense by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs.

source (archive)
This list was found quickly by Kiwi Farmers, who liked it very much. Finally, we would have the word of somebody who doesn't have inconsistencies and absurdities in their story and isn't highly motivated to take the site down.
Not only that, but Hector Martin acknowledged it and agreed to the results of the report.

source (archive)

source (archive)
So what happened when the results were published on September 1, 2021?

No deaths were published. How weird. So how does Hector Martin react?

source (archive)
He just moved the fucking goalposts.

Apparently, according to him, the State Department just somehow missed the end of the reporting period (that ends at and includes all of June 2021), and the next update will "backfill" it. He says this with literally no evidence whatsoever, and it doesn't even make sense. The department has had plenty of time to get the last couple of deaths in; they published it on the first day of September. It's absurd to think they just stopped accepting reports when July came around.
Surely, with such a notable death attracting media attention, the department would make sure to record Byuu's death. But they didn't. Because he isn't dead.
Hector Martin was too impatient to wait for the next update, though, and a week later he was already scrambling to dismiss the list by trying to discredit it.

source (archive)
In this Twitter thread, he links to news articles of four people who don't show up on the list and essentially says "take that, Kiwi Farmers!"
Except, not so fast. It's important to stress that the State Department list is only for the deaths of citizens, who died of non-natural causes. Anyone in the military aka Department of Defense or an employee of the embassy is not meant to be on the list (archive). And so:
- The American woman murdered while jogging in Ukraine (archive) worked for the embassy and her death would be handled by a different bureau.
- The death of the U.S. serviceman who killed a Japanese woman and then himself (archive) would be handled by the Department of Defense.
- The U.S. citizen who died of coronavirus in Wuhan could have been marked as a natural cause, or could have worked for the embassy. The article (archive) says a spokesman for the U.S. Embassy in Beijing talked about it, so I doubt they just missed their death entirely.
- And finally, this is a bit tenuous, but I don't find it hard to believe that the Egyptian-American Moustafa Kassem (archive) who died of a hunger strike could have had his death marked down as a natural cause.
Now, if you thought that this would be the last time that Hector Martin would move the goalposts, and that he would agree to the results the next time they were published and wouldn't scramble for an excuse to dismiss the results like he did before, that would be very cynical of you.
You would also be right. That's exactly what he did. When the list was finally published through the end of 2021 on June 17, 2022, not a single death was to be found.

And guess who moved the goalposts, again, and scrambled for an excuse to dismiss the results, again?

source (archive)
This fat liar hoaxster did!
His only defense (besides calling the data inaccurate, without specifics) was to call us "pathetically stupid, incompetent, and sad":

source (archive)
Which is an insult more fit for him, as just a year earlier, he was accusing us of moving the goalposts, and now he's the one doing it, quite brazenly:

source (archive)
Since that wasn't an actual defense, his next move was to make up some shit about how the data just looks weird to him and says it's a "blatant statistical outlier" and "obviously incomplete". Well no duh, Hector, military and embassy deaths are intentionally not posted on the site, you hoaxing liar.

source (archive)
He claims that he called the embassy right after Byuu supposedly died, and also that the pipeline is "just broken/late for Japan right now", with no evidence for either statement.

source (archive)
Hoaxin' Hector continues to point out discrepancies in the State Department list without addressing the fact that the list only considers non-natural civilian deaths, this time with a Japanese source. Notice how the Japanese source always has bigger numbers, but never smaller ones:

source (archive
And then accuses us of spreading a "conspiracy theory", even though alleging that two or three people lied is not a conspiracy theory.

source (archive)
On the contrary, it's an actual conspiracy theory to claim that members on the Kiwi Farms are organizing harassment against people, when there is literally no evidence for this. But the irony seems to be lost on Hoaxin' Hector, as he accuses us of spreading a conspiracy theory once again. He also, again, attacks the list without considering what it's intended to include and exclude:

source (archive)
In summary, Hector Martin agreed to using the State Department list as proof of Byuu's death. When the list was updated and no death was to be found, he resorted to moving the goalposts and coming up with excuses for why he wouldn't be on there. When the list was updated yet again, he resorted to discrediting the list by misunderstanding what it's supposed to contain.
Take this as a lesson: Hector Martin Cantero is a lying, hoaxing moron.
Take that off the god damn Internet!
Hector Martin would continue to use the Byuuicide hoax for sympathy points and agitprop to take down the Kiwi Farms any time it was even remotely relevant. When news broke that Chris-Chan fucked his mom, rather than talk about how horrible it was, he instead went on a tirade about the site that supposedly "drove a friend of [his] to suicide", and accused us of being "QAnon-level conspiracy theorists" without evidence. Strange priorities.

source (archive)
Then he claimed we "love harassing trans people", even though we don't, because we don't harass anyone.

source (archive)
He then claimed, with zero evidence, that Fiberhub, one of our providers, was "actively providing services to a harassment website responsible for multiple deaths."

source (archive)
His priorities don't involve addressing the fact that Chris-Chan was jailed for incest, it seems.
As mentioned earlier, DreamHost dropped us after enough people sent complaints to them. This kicked our domain off onto Cloudflare, which was our DDoS provider.
Of course, Hector wanted us off of Cloudflare too. He would get his wish in 2022.
It all started when a transgender child groomer named Keffals / Lucas Roberts / Clara Sorrenti got a streamer named Destiny banned off of Twitch for no good reason, and gloated about it. After we made a thread on him, he would get visited by police, blame that police visit on us with no evidence, start a GoFundMe for CA$100k, and declare jihad on this very forum.
And thus, #DropKiwifarms was born.
As part of this, Keffals would tweet #CloudflareProtectsTerrorists next to the names of Julie Terryberry and Chloe Sagal (whose suicides we had nothing to do with), and Byuu (who isn't dead).

source (archive)
Seeing no problem with sharing the company of a child groomer, Hector Martin joined #DropKiwifarms.

source (archive)
And if one terrible human being wasn't enough, he also promoted Liz/Elliot Fong-Jones, who is a rapist that admitted to having a "consent accident".

source (archive)
He also made this bizarre argument that Cloudflare dropping us wasn't meant to get us DDoSed, even though they were literally our DDoS mitigation provider. Apparently, it's actually about the fact that they "host" us, even though they don't, and he's really just talking about their caching, but he places 'caching' in scare quotes for no good reason.

source (archive)
He doesn't acknowledge that DDoSing is a criminal activity funded by criminals, and that Cloudflare dropping us almost certainly resulted in funding criminals, who steal and hack computers to form botnets and also engage in identity theft and credit card fraud, to DDoS us, but since he shared company with a child groomer and a rapist, I don't think morality is exactly a priority of his.
When Cloudflare published their first response, proclaiming they wouldn't drop us (which was a lie), Hector became extremely enraged, and posted a long thread spreading misinformation about how we were somehow involved in people's suicides and harassment.
So he would be happy when Cloudflare did finally drop us, right? Wrong. Apparently, it's not good enough, because they "are still pushing the Kiwi Farms narrative", somehow, and he claims with no evidence that Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince is "still on Kiwi Farms' side."

source (archive)
Hector Martin seems to be a constantly miserable person who is never satisfied when his demands are fulfilled.
But apparently he was happy enough to thank groomer Keffals and rapist Liz-Fong Jones for Cloudflare dropping Kiwi Farms.

In 2021, Marcan started his latest endeavour: Build Linux but for Apple devices.
Why? Good question.
The "Asahi" in Asahi Linux, according to him, means "rising sun" in Japanese (archive), which is the least weeby thing Hector has ever done.
Marcan gets, at a bare minimum, $3,924 a month to work on Asahi Linux.
A prominent member of the Asahi team is a trans person that goes by the name Alyssa Rosenzweig:

source (archive)
Who is the same person that wrote a sob piece about the increasing legislative backlash against child grooming in the U.S.:

source (archive)Alyssa Rosenzweig said:If I were a few years younger, lived in the wrong part of the US, [my suicide] may well be the reality, because gender-affirming care is banned for minors in conservative areas across the United States.
Asahi Lina
But what's far more interesting is a VTuber persona entirely dedicated to Asahi Linux.
Asahi Lina is a 'virtual YouTuber' attempting to sound female but failing miserably.
What's weird is this VTuber's debut started by "hacking" into Marcan's live coding stream.
You can also listen to Lina's voice pitched down, which makes it much more obvious.
Something much more blatant is that both Asahi Lina and Hector Martin are using the same computer setup, namely:
- The KDE desktop environment, configured with a thick window tracking bar
- Four virtual desktops
- The KDE Kate text editor with the same layout for both
- The Z shell (Zsh)
raider
, and that at some point, Lina accidentally showed a /home/marcan
directory.

Lastly, the name servers for
asahilina.net
point to Marcan's servers at marcansoft.com
.Regardless of all this evidence stacked against him, Hector Martin continues to deny that he is Asahi Lina for whatever reason.
In any case, Lina admits to using a voice changer. His setup is actually freakishly, monstrously overcomplicated:

source (archive)
You would think that almost twenty voice effects like this would lead to frequent audio drop outs when his computer can't keep up with the autism. You'd be right. Here's an audio cut for no good reason from Marcan (Alyssa Rosenzweig is on the right):
(timestamp 13:10)
This was also played on the August 4th, 2023 stream of MATI.
All those filters, and it still sounds obnoxious to listen to.
Back to Marcan. He's trying to get some code from Asahi Linux contributed back to the Linux kernel (which is called 'upstreaming'), but since he hates criticism, he complains about kernel maintainers who point out problems in his code, and threatens to start a "public list of bad kernel maintainers".

source (archive)
Speaking of contributing code to the kernel, one way that would definitively disprove Marcan being Lina is through the Linux kernel's real name contribution policy, which requires contributors to use their real legal name. After all, if they're separate people, there shouldn't be a problem with Lina contributing, right?
But actually, no. The Linux kernel just recently changed its policy to allow pseudonymous contributions.

source (archive)
And then just one month later after this was changed, "Lina" got "her" code accepted.

@marcan42x
Another one of his weird weeb behaviors is his heavily Japanese alt account named @marcan42x.
source (archive)
It's definitely him and not some other random dude named マルカン ("marukan" in katakana).
1. The first line of the bio ("壊れてねぇのに直すぞ!スペイン出身のキーボーディストエンジニアです。"), Google translated, is "It's not broken, but I'll fix it! Keyboardist engineer from Spain." The first sentence is very similar to Marcan's "It ain't broke, but I'll fix it!" in his bio, if not the idiomatic Japanese equivalent, and of course, the second sentence names Spain, from where Marcan originates.
2. His pinned tweet on September 8th, 2021 UTC says he is turning 31 ("あと31歳になりました!"), which places his birth year in 1990. The timestamp (from inspect element) is 15:19, which means it's actually September 9th in Japan (JST is UTC+9). Hector Martin's birthday is September 9th, 1990.
3. He's following his other account.
4. This tweet two days after the Byuuicide, which Google translates to "The last two days have been difficult..."
5. This tweet a day after that one, which Google translates to "For safety, I will use the red key for a while." The "red key" is a Japanese idiom referring to privating your account.

His older bio used to just straight up name @marcan42 and link to marcan.st. LMAO.

source (archive)
On this account, he seems to be obsessed with Cirno, the ice fairy from Touhou, and retweets pictures of her a lot.

source (archive)
Just a reminder that he looks like this. This is what a 31-year-old man like him likes to look at.

pawoo.net
If the above wasn't creepy enough, take a look at this. When Hector Martin joined Mastodon, in possibly the only time in his life he ever advocated against censorship, he complained about an instance named Fosstodon blocking two other instances named mstdn.jp and pawoo.net.
According to him, blocking them is "practically blocking an entire country".

source (archive)
For those who don't know, Pawoo is a Mastodon instance notorious for allowing lolicon and having a huge CSAM problem. When someone told him that lolicon is illegal in countries like Germany, Hector said:

source (archive)
This is the difference between Hector Martin and a normal person. A normal person would say "oh shit, I didn't know that, I'll make sure to not visit that instance." Whereas Hector Martin tries to rule-lawyer into any possible reason to lift the block on a lolicon/CSAM instance. Notice how at no point does he ever disavow lolicon.
And I do have to emphasize the CSAM part. If you don't believe me, then listen to the owner of the instance Hector uses, treehouse.systems, having to block Pawoo due to the sheer magnitude of its CSAM problem.

source (archive)
Suspiciously, Hector Martin has never talked about the fact that even his own instance blocks the CSAM/lolicon haven known as Pawoo.net.
For some reason, people trust what this dude says even though he's (1) a literally-who and (2) probably mentally insane. This has resulted in a boost to Hector's ego and unwarranted self-importance.
First off, he has a fucking Wikipedia article somehow.

source (archive)
It's extremely short for somebody supposedly notable enough by Wikipedia's standards. The above screenshot is the entire article excluding the long list of references.
If you look in the edit history, the user PhotographyEdits appears to have written a majority of the article.

source (archive)
It was suspected that PhotographyEdits was a sockpuppet of fellow open-source trans person, Leah/Francis Rowe (who is a lolcow with his own thread here), but Wikipedia jannies banned the person who spoke out about it.

source (archive)
Continuing on, he was cited in a Linus Tech Tips video.

Linus Torvalds (no relation to the above) gave a shoutout to Asahi Linux and said he was now using it (archive), to the point that Hector Martin is now trying to strong-arm him into accepting non-email patches by threatening to take away support for his device.

source (archive)
Recently, Hector bootlicked Apple by saying that they're not deliberately sabotaging right-to-repair:

source (archive)
Which prompted a response from notable right-to-repair figure, Louis Rossmann, who praised his engineering work (but he did disagree with him overall).
Targets and Attacks
Hector Martin seems to hate everyone, and make a lot of enemies. If you're someone even remotely involved in technology and open source, he probably hates you. If you're reading this thread, he definitely hates you. Even if you don't agree with what I'm saying, he already hates you just because you considered a viewpoint that wasn't his.First, the least insane thing for him to hate is transphobes and "transphobia":
As should be obvious, he really hates this site. So much so that he bought the domain kiwifarms.jp, which redirects to trans101.jp, a pro-trans Japanese blog. (source)
When the Audacity telemetry drama happened in 2021, Hector Martin got in a long and autistic Twitter slapfight with Daniel Ray / workedntheory of Muse Group, repeatedly accusing Muse Group of violating copyright somehow.
He really hates RetroArch just because somebody on 4chan claimed to be a RetroArch dev and the one who posted "dox", and he somehow believes that RetroArch "abused" Byuu in the past. There is no evidence that either of these statements are true.

source (archive)

source (archive)
He hates Richard Stallman / rms and participated in his cancellation.

source (archive)

source (archive)
And, completely unprompted, he sperged out about muh Kiwi Farms when Null signed the letter in support of RMS. Note that this was pre-Byuuicide, so he had a grudge against us for a very long time.

source (archive)
(By the way, dumbass, Null isn't the founder. He took over from someone else.)
He hates the Free Software Foundation (FSF):

source (archive)

source (archive)
He has a really particular bone to pick with one of the FSF's licenses, the AGPL.

source (archive)
To the point that he writes walls and walls of text sperging out about it and lamenting how he's the only one in the world who sees the AGPL for the truly terrible license it totally is, trust him guys.

source (archive)
He hates Dave Jones, who runs the YouTube channel EEVblog, and tried to cancel him for being "problematic" and "transphobic":

source (archive)
"The Orange Website"
One of his longer-running grudges is against the tech discussion site Hacker News, for having less-censored discussions that he can't control.
source (archive)
At his tamest, this is just him flaunting about how he totally knows more than those dumb Hacker News users do:

source (archive)
But when it comes to any criticism of his antics, especially his Asahi Lina persona, he starts to get autistic and mad.

source (archive)
This got so bad that he decided to try and block the site entirely, by making asahilinux.org redirect to Google if the user clicked it from HN.

source (archive)
Since he is a manchild, he constantly refers to Hacker News as "the orange website", and since it's not enough that he blocked them on asahilinux.org, he also wants to block them from treehouse.systems, the Mastodon instance he's an admin of ran by a trans person named Ariadne Conill / William Pitcock / kaniini.

source (archive)
Eventually, HN worked around this block by adding a
noreferrer
tag. In response, totally sane person Hector Martin said "Fuck you, HN."
source (archive)
Further proving that he is a bastion of sanity, Hector Martin considers blocking Hacker News in the operating system he's developing. He also says that adding a
noreferrer
tag is "evil."
source (archive)
He also sent a strongly-worded email to Dang, the sole janny of HN, and called him a "scumbag". He claims that there are "several instances of direct harassment that remained unmoderated". It seems that Hector Martin believes that simply discussing him in a critical context constitutes "harassment".

source (archive)
So now if you visit asahilinux.org, and you've visited the Hacker News submit link in the past, you'll get this message.

source (archive)
He doubles down on his dumbassery by calling the
noreferrer
tag "ban evasion" (even though the redirect is already trivially bypassable by just copy-and-pasting the link manually), and sarcastically calls it "Very professional." Even though, ironically, his own autistic and childish behavior is itself completely unprofessional.
source (archive)
Not content with his outburst, he ends by posting a wall of text on Mastodon constantly equivocating criticism to "harassment" for no good reason.
In case you were thinking of forming your own opinion on this, Hector Martin would like you to know that if you disagree with him, you are "part of the problem." Don't make the mistake of thinking for yourself, or he will hate you.

source (archive)
If hating on Hacker News wasn't enough for him, he also has a slight grudge against another tech discussion site, Phoronix.
Louis Rossmann
This OP is getting long, and I've already had to cut out so much autism to keep it to the most insane, hilarious bits. There's so much milk from this cow if you're sufficiently tech-literate willing to sift through all the techposting. With that said, let's end on Hector Martin Cantero's most recent lie and smear he's spread.
As mentioned earlier, he called out right-to-repair activists who said Apple is deliberately anti-repair. His defense is that Apple is not being anti-repair on purpose, which prompted a response from well-known right-to-repair activist, Louis Rossmann.
Now how do you think Hector responded? Do you think that he would consider it fairly, or at least keep the discussion centered on Apple and right-to-repair?
Nope. His only response was to attack him for having an account on the Kiwi Farms, start accusing him of being "actively involved" in "harassment campaigns" here, and bring up Byuu's death, which he faked, like a sort of get-out-of-criticism-free card.

source (archive)
As evidence, he links to an archive of my thread on a completely unrelated person named Daniel Micay / strcat, and the fact that I credited @larossmann at the end.

source (archive)
For those who don't know: Daniel Micay is the lead developer of GrapheneOS (who has supposedly stepped down recently). He's an Internet tough guy who constantly accuses others of harassing and abusing him with zero evidence. The people he has accused so far include:

- James Donaldson (CopperheadOS)
- Seth Simmons
- Henry Fisher / Techlore
- Nick Merrill (CalyxOS)
- Louis Rossmann (more on this later)

This is the sort of person Hector Martin defends. He's a menace who gets other people's Twitter accounts banned, he's completely unrelated and has nothing to do with him, but just because he has a thread on the Kiwi Farms, he's now suddenly the "victim" of "harassment".
Marcan won't change his mind, no matter how much it's pointed out that all that Louis Rossmann does on this site is post in his own thread.

source (archive)
He thinks being credited in "the harassment thread" is somehow an indication that he harasses Daniel Micay. In truth, Rossmann wants nothing more than to have nothing to do with Micay.
Oh, and by his own standard, Byuu, who posted here as @Near Throwaway, and @Wayne Beckett are also Kiwi Farmers who participate in harassment campaigns.
Doubling down, he claims that Rossmann's video is "effectively baiting his audience to harass strcat", then darkly hints at some sort of connection by following that with "a couple days later a KF thread pops up and credits him."

This is the video he's referring to.
You can watch it for yourself. There's nothing in here that "baits" his audience to "harass" Micay. In fact, the point of the entire video is to defend himself against harassment from Micay, who was threatening to publicly accuse him of attempted murder.
A very serious allegation, that Louis has every right to defend himself against by putting the word out first. Apparently though, just because Micay has (allegedly) been SWATted, Louis shouldn't put out the video, even if his reputation would be ruined and smeared as an attempted murderer. This is Hector Martin's twisted logic. Double standards, because he wouldn't have any standards otherwise.
By now, it should be clear that Hector Martin has swallowed the bullshit lies and narrative from Daniel Micay's mouth without question. So just to be clear:
- I have no affiliation, relationship, or otherwise any sort of connection to Louis Rossmann.
- I have never spoken to Louis Rossmann in private.
- Rossmann did not tell me to make the thread. No one ever told me to make the Daniel Micay thread. I am the sole person responsible, and I did it because he's an amusing sperg to laugh at.
- No one is harassing Daniel Micay. You can read the thread for yourself. People are just pointing and laughing.
- Rossmann is not harassing Micay. Rossmann wants to be left the fuck alone.
Oh, and also...
You can read the linked posts for more information. But in summary:
- Hector follows lolicon accounts on the Fediverse.
- He had an account on an instance notorious for having CP, then deleted it after it was documented here.
- He said "not *impossible* for a 20 year old to be in a healthy relationship with a 14 year old" and referred to pedophilia as a mere "paraphilia".
Hector Martin is an Internet Tough Guy who sometimes LARPs as a creepy and weird VTuber named Asahi Lina. He is a constant moral activist making sure to always be on the supposed right side of history. Like the person whose suicide he faked, Byuu / Near / David Kirk Ginder, and a fellow ITG he defends, Daniel Micay / strcat, he is unable to take any criticism of himself, to the point that he does anything and everything in his power to silence it.
I know Hector obsessively reads the Kiwi Farms, so here's my message to him:
Hector, you are the worst possible friend somebody could have. If Byuu is truly dead, you have failed utterly in convincing the rest of the world. I would kill myself again if I were him because of how much you fucked this up. Your autistic rage and obsession with the Kiwi Farms, Hacker News and anybody who might criticize you is a huge liability and will give many pause before they want to associate with you. Retard.
