The original Fate/Stay Night was a eroge because it contained pornographic sex scenes
But originals were definitely eroge, and I wouldn't recommend them to somebody not interested in pornographic sex between teenagers.
But they take up so little space. They're there but they weren't the main story or complete selling point. Like I said, you could put a "technically it's eroge" but saying it's "just EROGE with a capital E" kind of puts it in a box that it's not completely trying to be in. It's like saying putting Re:Zero in ecchi because there's a lot of stuff the adaption leaves out. Does it technically out? Yes. But is that it's main appeal or what it should be completely labeled as? Is it really in the same category as Shimoneta or Monogatari?
Plus I don't think a non-coomer would really be attracted to any VN in the first place.

The thing is, eroge are generally just as story driven as any non-eroge VNs, regardless of the amount of sexual content, and this is one of their selling points. Unless you are talking about the ones that exist specifically to get your rocks off (I think they are called nukige?) and even those are generally story driven. So this story based delineation is really academic, at best, and entirely superfluous.

And there are plenty of non-sexual VNs that would appeal to non-coomers. And I'm not just talking about the ones that started out as eroge and were cleaned up in newer releases.

Been very happy with the Rurouni Kenshin remake. Very faithful to the original so far.
Haven't yet read the manga, but the original anime was putting me to sleep more often than not which was disappointing to me. I hope the remake doesn't, just haven't decided when to start watching it.

If you didn't like the original, they're sticking extremely close to the source. Its prettier by virtue of being made in the modern day, but if the story wasn't for you, they aren't changing anything significant so far.

Is the pacing the same, then? I think that was the biggest issue for me.

Pretty much. The main thing I would say for people who have issues with the pacing is watch till the Kurogasa Arc (which starts this weekend as it works out). The entire arc is like 3 episodes and at that point the series picks up a lot, but the first 5 or 6 episodes are entirely world building and character introductions.

Was this really the actual number of episodes in the original series? Could've sworn things were longer on the introductory part to where something sorta started happening after 12 episodes.

I think so, I mean 6 episodes is a long time retrospectively. If you're trying to watch it on Toonami in the early 2000's that's an entire week and then following Monday worth of eps.

If you're trying to marathon it in the streaming era that's 2.5 Hours of sitting around.

Bare in mind during this time: Kenshin primarily does chores around the dojo. They introduce side characters and problems going on in Tokyo during the Meji era, and then at the end of the episode, Kenshin shows up to style on the thugs for about 5 seconds because his entire thing is speed, and then the episode ends.

It isn't until you meet Sagara Sanoske that you get a proper fight and even then that's only because Sanoske doesn't get dropped in one hit like literally everyone else. He never actually lands a blow on Kenshin.

So if you're going into it having just watched Goku fight Freiza or expecting a fast lead in, you're not really getting it with the first half dozen episodes of Rurouni Kenshin.

That's what makes the Kurogasa arc the tone shift for the series. Suddenly you're not dealing with rando Yakuza thugs anymore. Kurogasa is a rival manslayer and one who enjoys killing, his being there changes both the show and Kenshin's tone literally. Its the first instance we see of Battosai the Manslayer and what that actually looked like.

Hey, I'm trying to figure out the name of an anime that is maybe from the last 10 years.

It was about youth getting transported to an extra dimensional(?) empty and unfurnished apartment (at night) where they sat around in beige still suits then got teleported somewhere to fight monsters in Tokyo(?). Everything happened at night. I thought it was called Bleach but that is something completely different. It was very popular iirc.

Sounds like Gantz. There was a live action and CGI movie called Gantz 0 made as well.

I only watched gantz zero and read one of the spinoffs and it was great, I really want to read gantz someday, it looks really fun.

It is funny to see the author on twitter making AI realistic images of his manga. He really enjoys playing with AI and making cute women

This is a bit random, but you know how manga tends to use filler English script like newspaper clippings and such? Well, I'm curious about what this Arabic script is in Beauty Pop.

I will laugh my ass off if it turns out to be from the Quran and no one noticed. I thought a character was wearing an Iron Cross bracelet in one panel, it wouldn't exactly surprise me if weird shit got snuck into a shoujo manga on accident.

My favourite instance of non-Japanese filler text is the Photoshop readme as a medical readout in Gundam Wing. It looks like they even kept the default Adobe font :story:

In the original Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury's visor and computer were full of references to Robocop's prime directives.

She does look like the type of character to shoot a rapist in his crotch.
I also do wonder if there were any major instances where someone actually made a Robocop manga because that would be awesome.

Reminded this happened to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure...

So, I've been out of the loop for a while (for the most part) in regards to anime. Was a fan of 1980s/1990s/2000s work, and then I took a hiatus afterwards to get through some personal stuff, and now I'm interested in going full-in again with this new-age material this time. Anyone want to throw me some recommendations?
