Furry Convention Drama - Because you can't have a couple thousand dog fucking enthusiasts under the same roof without shit hitting the fan

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
Not just that, but the novelty of going to a furry convention to own the libs wore off already. This is the size that convention should have been in the first place, without the political bullshit.
Also the number of people obsessively pixel peeping every picture to try to identify and destroy magachuds has to be offputting to some.

Hotel security breaking up room parties may also be a factor, as together that deprives furries of their two reasons for attending conventions - free unprotected sex, and social media clout.

There was also quite a bit of noise made by people pre-declaring that this year would be a failure. For example, this claim by Len Gilbert in June of an unnamed (imaginary) source at the hotel reporting that only three rooms were booked.
1690944596779.png

This claim is absurd on its face, of course, but a drumbeat of such claims will create a negative feel and become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It would require cramming all the staff and guests of honor into two rooms and that there be no attendees at all, and further that no other room at the hotel was booked by some random person just traveling through Oklahoma. (Implying that the hotel just sits empty all the time until a convention happens next door, and somehow stays in business that way.)

But wait, Realhat, why haven't you accounted for the third room? Because at the time of this 'news report' being released, I myself had one room reserved.

So Canfur (a furry convention in Ottawa, ON, Canada) announced on Twitter that masks are still needed in con space, even while suiting, & people are rightfully tired of this bullshit. Bonus points for them responding in the thread that balaclavas can be used in place of masks while in suit, defeating the whole fucking purpose. Also the vaccine is needed but not boosters?!? (https://archive.is/8bgDL). I will follow up with the con next week to see if anything juicy happens

Ottawa being retarded is standard operating procedure. I think it is the proximity to Quebec.

While the cast of Freefurall certainly contains many worthy of ridicule, the fact that these cons goes without a hitch and are positively reviewed by the attendees is infinitely funny to me because it makes their detractors saltier than the dead sea. It just shows how much of an elementary-school mindset these people have; if you hate something, then absolutely everything to do with them must be bad, no exceptions. So if you can't give them shit for the con going awry, mock the low attendance, sure. How's that bipoc-only con going on the other hand then I wonder.

What, too soon?

I dunno, 50-something attendees at what was supposed to be a big "fuck off, liberals" convention does sound like a failure.

Fur cons aren't A that big to begin with and B they're basically starting from ground zero with a con.
I just checked and Midwest Fur Fest had about 13k people in attendance last year, so yeah, they can be pretty big. You could argue that MFF is one of the biggest cons, and that's true, but it seems like several hundred to a thousand attendees is fairly normal for a medium to big-sized con.
And sure, they're starting from scratch, but last year they had 4 times more guests, you'd expect the con to grow and not to shrink.

Most first-year cons get way more than that. Even Tails and Tornadoes, the convention FFA was made to spite and takes place in the same state, had 504 their first year and has grown every year.

Starting with 200, and then losing 75% of your attendees is not at all normal, and a huge sign that while people might be vocally supportive of the convention to "own da libs" or whatever, the first year sucked and a large majority of people didn't return.

Touché.

Could someone elaborate on this? FFA did seem to be a very Republican-ish convention what with the american flag displayed everywhere, the red/white/blue ballpit, and the organizers stealing the top gun logo for some signs. I wouldn't be surprised if the snack table served "Freedom Fries".

Long story short: Peacewolf was the chairman (chairwoman?) of first year Oklahoma con Tails and Tornadoes in 2019. That convention went fine. In 2020, she nominated an artist with anti-LGBT views as guest of honor without asking any of the other convention staff. I forget the name of the artist. Of course, the fandom went fucking berserk because how dare someone have an opinion that isn't super left-wing! Peacewolf was voted out as chairman and the GoH was replaced. Of course, this was 2020 so the entire convention ended up cancelled anyway.

Peacewolf started the group "AWOO" after being booted which stands for some shit I don't remember but anyway it was made to host events because she was shunned from every other furry event in the state. That's where FFA comes in, which is a convention held in the same state as Tails and Tornadoes, literally just to spite T&T kicking her out. That's why they push the American "freedom of speech" aspect so hard. Of course, most furries hate the idea that people with the "wrong" opinion can attend, which means the only people that attended were the "cancelled" crowd like 2 Gryphon, Crusader Cat, Diesel Raccoon, and others who are basically banned from every other con.

The fur cons are run by the troon mafia and the troon mafia will get you banned if they get a whif of transphobia, wrong think or etc... Look most furries are gay and nearly every gay person who's a furry is part of the right wing bad LGBTQ good agenda because I want to own my chud parents by being a degenerate.

I can only imagine they saw jerking off on Pizza as transphobic or right wing or something. There's no other explanation why that was the number one controversy in the fandom in 2022 while they ignored pedophiles and zoophiles attending conventions.

God damn. Some furry conventions just can't let COVID cultism go. Anthro New England is still requiring two jabs and a booster, and masks to attend, for 2023.

ANTHRO NEW ENGLAND 2024 COVID-19 POLICY.

LAST REVISED JULY 25, 2023.

INTRODUCTION.

This policy includes measures we are taking to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Attendees are required to follow these rules to maintain a healthy and safe venue. We have zero tolerance for anyone who would shirk these guidelines, as that would put other attendees at risk of exposure. The health and safety of our attendees is our top priority.

These policies apply to all staff, volunteers, and attendees of Anthro New England who physically participate in any/all convention events.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS.

For the safety of all attendees, we require proof (digital or physical) of a series of vaccination doses against COVID-19. We will accept official state-supplied digital COVID Vaccination cards, state-supplied paper cards, and military ID as acceptable forms of vaccination proof. Photos or screenshots of the aforementioned types ARE acceptable and may be submitted when you register online.
The requirements are:
  • a primary series of either:
    • two (2) doses of an mRNA vaccine (Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZenica)
    • one (1) dose of a single dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson, Novavax)
  • plus:
    • one (1) dose of a BIVALENT* booster vaccine (Moderna, Pfizer)
*Bivalent boosters have replaced the original mRNA vaccines as they include the Omicron mutation as well as other newer strains of the COVID-19 virus. The bivalent vaccines were introduced in September 2022. If you have received a booster since then, you most likely have received this booster. Even if you have received more than 3 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, if you have not received a Bivalent booster you will not be eligible to attend the convention until you have received it.
There may be cases where an individual has received ALL 3 of their doses using the bivalent vaccines – this is perfectly acceptable.

For our international attendees – while Moderna and Pfizer are the only bivalent booster vaccines recognized for US citizens, we understand that there are different bivalent vaccines available elsewhere.
If you have received a different bivalent vaccine, please submit through our registration system as normal. If you are unsure if your doses will be accepted, please email us at info@anthronewengland.com.

MASKS REQUIRED.

We recognize that many cons are relaxing their masking requirements. However, our convention will continue to occur in the winter months during resurgences of the flu/RSV/COVID-19 and other illnesses.
Therefore, to reduce not only the spread of COVID-19, but also for overall health & wellness, Anthro New England requires masks be worn in all convention spaces.
Masks MUST cover both your nose and your mouth. A balaclava or mask must be worn under all fursuit heads, and it must cover both your nose and your mouth. We have a one-strike policy; con safety will only ask you once to properly wear or fix your mask/balaclava. If you have to be asked a second time, your badge will be revoked. Once again, this applies to all convention spaces.

FOLLOW CDC GUIDELINES.

Wash your hands, avoid touching your face with unwashed hands, and monitor your health – if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19 or new onset symptoms of general illness (fever, cough, shortness of breath, gastrointestinal symptoms, etc.) or if you have tested positive and have not isolated for at least 5 days (and/or continue to test positive), we please ask that you do not attend the convention for the safety of yourself and others. Minimizing the onset and spread of any illness during and after the convention is one of our top priorities.

Half of the furry conventions have dropped their requirements entirely (and even in the case of Anthrocon, allowed attendees to show negative tests.) Are New England furries so fucking paranoid when the rest of the goddamn world has moved on?

A fight broke out at the yearly furry beach party (so large it;s basically a convention, so I'm posting it here) in Huntington Beach, CA.

Some furry, "Skaard" (Twitter / Old Archive because his twitter's locked.) was supposedly "banned" from this event which was taking place on a public beach, and a staff member for the event, "Fenrir" somehow got the idea that he could eject someone from a public beach... (Of-fucking-course Skaard was "banned" for allegedly being a "nazi" or some shit)

Skaard was having none of it, so Fenrir hit him with a megaphone, multiple times.

Several minutes later, Skaard was sitting on the ground, bleeding. And three staff members for the event were in handcuffs.

Skaard refused transport to a hospital, instead leaving in a personal vehicle with his boyfriend, and Fenrir went to the police station in handcuffs. Other handcuffed staff members were released.
