Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

Some video editor youtuber (who has the most basic bitch editing in this video that doesn't stand out) went to LTX, tranny attendee at 3:12. First half is LTX, the back half is just youtuber talking to audience about whatever, didn't care. What she shows of the convention really makes it look more bland than Level 1's video did.

It's mainly showing LTT and having Dennis show other tech youtubers around, and ex-employee Brandon is there and becomes more tech autist. Dennis is still likable, I see the Plainrockvlog guy is there which is weird because he seems like he would be the first to scream "tranny tranny tranny" to everyone. I didn't know I hated them before this but I hate video editing youtubers, they seemed to have leveled up in secret to be as annoying as indie music hipsters to say why camera lens X or Y is the best when you look like fucking idiots walking around with all that stuff out instead of just using your phone.

Good eye.

Today i will remind them.

NCommander is a tech youtuber that I like to watch because the guy is very smart and knowledgeable but his videos are painful to watch, besides pushing a lot of politics on his videos, his videos have a lot of negative mood on it, where it makes you feel somewhat bad. While I like to watch him because of the things that he does videos about, it's a channel that I hate to watch
He seems to use his livestreams as a kind of therapy session and completely abandoned doing the polished videos he used to put out. Which really is a pity because he does deep dives into really fascinating niche topics.

-44:55 the clear LTT screwdriver is taking time because it's clear and it reacts differently to the molding process and finishes
-1:26:30 on Shortcircuit they recently reviews a Pwnage mouse and the reviewer (that David freak) did not remove the clear plastic feet on the bottom which made the friction of the mouse be way higher than it should have been. After the audience called it out the SC people doubled down and then the SC people realized they screwed up and just put a blurb in the video description. They removed that portion from the review and Linus was upset that he only found out about it after the fact from the social media manager and two hours before Wan Show started. He apologizes that it makes them look bad and apologized to Pwnage.
-1:43:50 someone is selling the LTT screwdriver on Amazon but it is not from LTT proper.
-2:59:30 a question about Wan Show starting on time that takes a while to fully be answered because it spins into Linus thinking he's a good actor, the end answer is Linus is busy doing other things for other videos and then if he doesn't they (the employees tasked with those things) don't get bonuses or things done on time, it comes across as very self serving and he tries to low key blame the audience for demanding daily content and the writers are under too much pressure. Fuck off fag.
-3:18:15 Luke makes a point that Linus needs to let things fail to see where the weak links are in the company so they can focus on those areas, but Linus and Yvonne keep jumping in to keep the plates spinning.
-3:36:00 it's not spoken but Linus answers a question in the chat that shows up on screen. "How has the reception to LTT TV been?" "Pretty Mediocre-LS"
-3:37:45 in talking about screwdrivers sold at LTX, it seems LTX '23 made a small profit. Not enough to pat themselves on the back for, but it didn't lose money. Apparently this was in relation to one of Linus' in-laws or family wondering about it almost like he chipped in himself and was expecting an ROI (greedy chinaman uncle I'm guessing).
-3:40:00 Linus was 20 minutes late to Wan Show or some other thing tonight because he was letting his kids do an activity with something that was out (an arbor press) in order to let them do stuff at the shop. This isn't just a Linus thing but a growing number of parents seem to think their actions that are detriment to other employees or people in their space is absolved if it means they get to spend more time with their kids. Don't do that and hide behind "being a good father."
-3:41:20 talk about LTT pins, and employee specific pins (?), the entire pin thing seems weird. And I wonder if there's an Anthony pin that is a collectable.
-3:52:50 the luxurious LTT backpack is probably 6 months away, they are awaiting plated carabiner clips that won't be as bad as the current ones.
-3:55:45 a question about changing his name to Linus "Tech Tips" Sebastian if enough merchandise is sold leads to a revelation that Yvonne is still Yvonne Ho because she didn't want to pay 50 bucks one-time to change her last name. That's a weak excuse Linus, gullible is written on the ceiling.
-3:57:00 a question about LTT pride and tranny stuff merch, Linus doesn't believe in it because he's not a gay (false) and he believes the company is diverse and a flag isn't needed and he's not engaged in that community and he doesn't want to profit from it. He seems to be firm on this and Luke agrees but with the freaks he employs its only a matter of time before he bends the knee to suck the Tranthony dick.

And because I didn't do last week's WAN show

at 2:20:00 they talk about the Labs tour and Tim from their team apparently taking a swipe at other channels because they don't do new tests on hardware with every new thing. Linus says it was not "tactful," yet in a surprising move he doesn't really throw him under the bus. He says Tim is correct that the Labs does all new tests with existing stuff instead of using existing data that Hardware Unboxed and GN use, and that he hired Tim to be an engineer and not a PR person. While Labs is bloated and full of a bunch of pie in the sky wishes, it is good to actually stick up for the people who actually do stuff for you company as opposed to fattie Jake and Tranthony. Linus does say he's noticing the tech sphere is starting to split off into factions and he doesn't like it even though you can say LTT spearheaded it.

They finally did a new AMD upgrade with an editor who looks like the annoying kid in class who did stupid things just for attention:

the guy wants a projection screen in his bedroom which makes no sense, a ridiculous hard drive setup, it's not a good video, no one is likable except the two guys who are called in to help install the projector screen because these were the same logistics guys who were made to move Linus from his old house to his mcmansion. On one of their faces (the skinny one) you start to see resentment and disgust.

-1:43:50 someone is selling the LTT screwdriver on Amazon but it is not from LTT proper.
Welp, that's getting a video. No way in hell he doesn't take the opportunity to dunk on a clone while promoting his own crap.
-3:37:45 in talking about screwdrivers sold at LTX, it seems LTX '23 made a small profit. Not enough to pat themselves on the back for, but it didn't lose money.
Genuine props there, running any convention in the black is difficult, a very niche weird ass one like LTX even moreso.
-3:41:20 talk about LTT pins, and employee specific pins (?), the entire pin thing seems weird. And I wonder if there's an Anthony pin that is a collectable.
A continuation of the weird obsession with turning all his staff into brandable objects. Stop trying to turn your camera guy or network guy into influencers, just let them do their fucking jobs.
Linus does say he's noticing the tech sphere is starting to split off into factions and he doesn't like it even though you can say LTT spearheaded it.
Hardly splitting into factions. Whats happening is we're seeing the first full business cycle waning through the techtuber sphere. Some of these groups like LTT have simply grown too big, too bloated, and are now trying to succeed by forcing success to be defined by their metrics, rather than by audience decision and engagement. The other 'factions' are just the various smaller and upstart groups that either haven't yet gotten to that point, or have actively and conservatively avoided getting to that point. Eventually the bloat isn't sustainable, some burst, the market goes lean for a while, then grows again.

Tech tubing will see the same fate - With all the various economic factors blowing up out there, Technology is likely to stagnate on a consumer practicality perspective - Most marketable features are already near peak performance (Phone Cameras, batteries, display resolutions and colors) or already so far into the excess that it stopped being consumer a long while ago and went full enthusiast (See the entire 4080+ lineup) where nobody normal can afford to participate. This will probably stagnate further as global industrial chains realign and we see 5+ years of limited net capacity growth in chips as shits reshuffled and reshored somewhere else. Depending on your level of global economic doomerism, you may want to factor in a major global recession or depression atop of that.

What that all leads to is a diminished commercial interest in the tech review space - The new tech is simply less interesting, and the company marketing departments won't see good turnaround pitching $5,000 hardware at regular people who can't afford to buy it. There will be plenty of interest in budget builds and other such things, but Nvidia is not going to sponsor LTT to do a video on how to buy good used 20 series cards, and not many advertisers in general will want to work with people promoting what consumers will really need in these times.

Not enough to pat themselves on the back for, but it didn't lose money.
Interesting. They had to have it so packed that people were complaining about one hour and more long queues.. So I guess that answers my original question on whether the number of people was a mistake or not.

Seems they calculated the cost, revenue from tickets/sponsors, estimated revenue from sales and determined that unless you ended up with packing people in a too small space, it could not be done (or maybe they could still have made a profit with a bit better planning, and paying for additional space - does any kiwi know how much that would supposedly cost?)

I agree. Linus should really learn that LMG/LTT is "a real company now" and that his employees are neither content creators nor his friends. The fact that they have more than a hundred of people is just insane for what they do.
The other issue with LTT is that Linus wants to be taken seriously (muh lab) but the presentation says the opposite. You can't soyface in the thumbnail or do cut-away gags and review a product seriously.

His "writers" are paid to make content that looks more like ads than reviews, if it's too hard then why not make less videos?

Interesting.

Luke is too good for LTT.

FRESH OFF THE PRESS
Local copy:

I'm listening to it and Steve is going in, starts off as citing LMG working as a sweatshop:
vivaldi_4jPDU0YyyE.png
Doesn't really seem like the multi-hour rambling video of some lolcows with a need for timestamps and highlights, it's very informative and very cutthroat so far. I wonder if LTT is going to bury this hard or if they'll actually try to respond.

this is so discombobulating to me.
All LTT members say we're churning too much content too fast, even Linus,
yet, they dont stop doing it.
Well, if you take took long on vids, you could end up like YMS and take years editing a video on the Lion King remake. Then again, you could be like LTT is now. rushing vids 5 vids a week.

Steve & GN went in raw and unlubed with that video. They didn't hold back at all.
Steven could have been more unhinged. But he even talks about how he's being very profession and clinical in this "review" of LTT. Around the 12 min mark I think.
