Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Linus is of the belief that creating mixed race children turns them into super humans that exclusively inherit all of the best aspects of the man and woman.
Even if you do have mixed race kids, it's extremely irresponsible to teach them this, since there are a bunch of potential (and some absolutely guaranteed) health issues that they should be aware of, instead of sweeping it all under the carpet in the name of being progressive (#OneRaceTheHumanRace!!!). It's just shitty to treat your kids that way.
In other words, it was always bound to come tumbling down for him at some point.

Took a peek at Linus's YouTube channel and saw there was a live stream running enjoy this.

No one is saying anything on twitter from any of the major people outside of GN posting the tweet with a youtube link to the video.

LTT's twitter did post this an hour after GN's video dropped, in relation to Musk/Cuckerberg fighting.

Is that his wife? She literally looks like a dude. If you are going down the libertarian path, why the fuck would you marry an absolute uggo like her?

Edit: I am retarded.

>lose your best working prototype to potential competitors
For my friend, out of the 6 passable units they made, only one was good enough to be sent to a lab for benchmarking, in order to see how far it deviated from the theoretical specifications.

Chances are, Lilith Troon Trips sold off a unit they were intending to use as a benchmark when it come mass production, or it could have been "the one" for a good lab test.

With --live-from-start I get the whole stream even if I've started 30 mins late?
Yes sir, it basically seeks from the beginning with one thread then uses another to keep up with the live segments. Another tip is if you're grabbing livestreams afterwards and you want it to go fast, use something like -N 5 where 5 is the number of threads to run concurrently while downloading segments.
Do you know if that works with the live-chat json download?
Nope, can't go backwards with the live chat :(

This part keeps getting worse. Like Steve suggested, what if a big competitor bought the prototype at the auction? Not only that startup got fucked by the LTT video but their idea could be stolen too.
And I’ll bet you someone did steal the idea.

i'm surprised he didn't sell out a while back and go live in a beach house. also giving away an engineering sample is just plain incompetence

I only know Linus from memes, but by now the story of disgraced content creator is pretty much well established - rise to fame and then degrade in quality and human interaction until inevitable collapse. The staggering 100+ people for a YouTube channel is insane and I'm convinced anyone who actually cared about quality was removed for some ass licking faggot/woman who doesn't care about the channel and know anything about technology.

Some things I want to comment about:
I swear Canadians start coming out worse than Bri*ish immigrating to the USA.
Double Suicide
I don't think it's fair blaming Linus for the chain of events (especially as it's classic case that the guy should have just been forcibly disconnected from the internet beforehand) but still one more case of influencer bullying smaller people while celebrating TrAnS rights.
It's way worse than you think it is. Not only can they replace/edit videos "in place" but the video ID doesn't change and sometimes the youtube-reported length doesn't update. Why yt-dlp relies on the youtube reported lenght instead of the actual length of the file is beyond me. It's also super great when you download a live stream and the filename says it's 3:48 or whatever but it's actually only the last two hours.

Because of this it's basically impossible to tell if something's changed when you're archiving stuff with yt-dlp because even if you use id+length it's not a unique identifier and shit like "last updated" doesn't work on youtube. I only noticed this after wondering why some crowbcat videos I downloaded were different lengths from the posted ones and after investigating found that small jokes or clips had just been removed. Probably youtube said those shots/sections/jokes had something youtube didn't like and the easiest way is to just remove that bit entirely instead of trying to rework or redo it.

So if you've ever re-watched a video on youtube and though it wasn't as good as you remembered it might legitimately not be because your favorite joke is gone. I hate youtube so goddamned much.

Edit: grammar
I like the built in 1984 style past falsification. The fact you can only know if something changed by comparing timestamps is straight out of Jojo's King Crimson.

drives worse than the bmw 3-series i drove for a few weeks back in 2013
That's a serious accusation! I've never driven a Tesla, and never will after reading that comparison.

I can tell you the 2016 3-series was no better. Over engineered shitpile that will require multiple warranty trips to the dealership, and if you want to keep that warranty, be prepared to spend out the ass for basic shit you can easily do yourself like oil changes and air filters. Once that 5-year warranty ends, expect a failure in dangerous way (for example, the rear stability control in my case). Luckily I was able to unload that during covid for an inordinate amount of money (compared to what it was actually worth) thanks to the car shortage. The dealership told me they were shipping it to China, so at least I got some laughs out of the thing, but it was still a total ripoff and I will never buy a "luxury sedan" ever again.

3-Series Beamers - not even once. I would rather drive an '03 Civic with 150k miles. Less maintenance and less dangerous.

@Slav Power It's time for the Linus lolcow thread.
If this were to thappen, would it be possible to merge this thread into the lolcow thread? It'd save @Slav Power some work and make it easier for new readers to follow.
It would be possible, but I would have to lock this thread for a bit until the thread gets out of PG.
My idea was always to write a new OP, replace the one in this thread, and move this entire thread to IF. The issue is that I'm too lazy to work on this alone, to filter through 200+ pages to compile all the crucial information with all the archives into a lengthy comprehensive OP.

The PG thread was only there in hopes that perhaps people will help me out on working for the new OP, but hey ho, looks like it all boils down to my laziness.

That GN video is one of the better takedown videos I've seen in awhile. It is straight to the point and doesn't play around. It goes straight for the jugular. You can tell they were holding back before but LTT just had to keep being petty.

It'll be interesting if LTT gets hit with a big unsub wave. I really doubt this will just blow over like previous drama. Especially with auctioning off that part to the vendors direct competitor. (I sure as hell wouldn't do business with them after that. That should be lawsuit worthy, fuck even criminal complaint worthy.)

IMO, they are going to have to respond publicly. Their credibility is now in question and sponsorships may now wonder if they want to be tied to a group that gets so much wrong. If I was AMD, I'd be pissed about that 5600x3D review. Shit like that hurts sales and leads to stupid trends in the industry.

I remember that video and the kid seemed to be a legit autist, that is horrible, especially the mother too.

Now I'm definitely starting to feel like Linus wanted a new CEO because there's something coming on the back end of all this that isn't going to be nice to him.
It’s genuinely hard to comprehend; it’s heartbreaking. I was reading Linus’ reply and I was disturbed by the fact that, in his reply, he cited his sources in order to say, “Sorry I guess, but actually, I did the right thing”.

I am not a father, but Linus IS, I know what it feels like to lose a loved one; surely he has, so one would guess he has an idea of what the man is going through.
Your son, then wife? I couldn’t imagine that pain. You could see the pride that father has for his son’s accomplishments in the interaction. No father should have to bury his child.

I could never even comprehend responding that way. The subtle blame shifting Linus pulls, instead of just, saying you’re sorry, showing empathy, and not trying to weasel out of real or perceived blame.

Also why the absolute fuck did he not censor the part in the video where he says the channel name?! Linus knows how brutal the internet can be, so many hide their faces, obscure personal details, etc.
So with a young man, who’s clearly autistic, to just put that shit out there, alone that is insane to me.

Sorry I’ve went on for three paragraphs now (MATI I guess), I’m distressed by this, first time this fucking website has made me cry. I hope the father has people who love and support him. That’s so fuckin’ tragic.

Linus, look at this shitstorm like this. This is the perfect chance to fire tranthony before he is exposed for grooming minors on discord or some shit. Just downscale everything with a "i bit off more than i could chew" video and fire a bunch of people. tranthony will just be a name in a long list, no way for trannies to spin it as "muh transphobia".

Here's LTT's numerous issues and some of the cope I have seen from Lilith Sebastian's cockriders.

1. Mouse issue
Literally any autistic gaming mice enthusiast will check to see if protective film is present when their new toy isn't "smooth" on their handmade by Japanese virgins gaming mousepad.
The cope I have seen was "if LTT can't find it, how does the manufacturer expect us to", which is a ridiculous cope. LTT is supposed find these issues.

2. Quantity over quality
Quantity over quality is fine if you're reviewing amazon gadgets. Many companies send them highly specialised products with their own set of unique features. To see how deep the autism rabbithole goes, just look into mechanical keyboards (actually don't, you'll regret it -- typed on $800+ custom one).

People who are invested in the niche hobby will lambast the review for getting basics wrong. People who aren't will not pay $350 for a damn keyboard. This essentially turns LTT into a content farm.

3. Cooler issue
This combines aspects of both points above. LTT was sent a lot of information which they did not read, so they made a horribly bad review filled with disinformation.

Lilith also talks about $500 to make the video, which is laughable. You have a so called $500,000 laboratory, nigger. What's $500? Yvonne's Louis Vuitton handbag is sextuple that. She also looks like a dude and therefore I will not sex.

4. Specification sheet copy/paste error
I am personally happy t o give them a pass on this, but it's not the first or even the fifth time. Copying and pasting information isn't hard. If Lilith's company is a journalistic media group, then Kiwifarms is the fucking constitution.

5. Reviewing data axis amending issue and mounting mistakes
This demonstrates nothing but sheer incompetence. They either don't care about the accuracy of their results or they don't have any employees out of their 100+ who is mindful enough to see the obvious flaws.

Surely they can find one person out of 100 who is good at numbers and recognising weird patterns, right? You're reading this right now, KF autist.

6. Auctioning an engineering sample
I have ranted about this already. If an engineering sample costs at least $5000 from my experience in China, then it will likely cost more than 10k in the UK, where you pay to turn on high end CNC routers if you want anything that's more accurate than the genes of Lilith's children.

7. Why not settle this in private, you have my number, my wife's and etc.
Um
Because... like, you brought up GN and HU first??????
Publicly?
For no apparent reason????
You fucking leaf.

Any one of these issues in isolation are part and parcel in being such a huge channel with 100+ workers, but all of these combined, with some happening consistently is inexcusable.

Here are two negative reviews.

- Managers cannot manage
- Rushed, overtime is common (but paid for, kudos to that)
- Content farm like

Here's the dilator.

EDIT: Nevermind, it seems that I am late.

Btw, Linus made a response to Gamer Nexus' allegations on the forum: https://linustechtips.com/topic/152...nd-integrity/?do=findComment&comment=16078641

Text copy:
There won't be a big WAN Show segment about this or anything. Most of what I have to say, I've already said, and I've done so privately.

To Steve, I expressed my disappointment that he didn't go through proper journalistic practices in creating this piece. He has my email and number (along with numerous other members of our team) and could have asked me for context that may have proven to be valuable (like the fact that we didn't 'sell' the monoblock, but rather auctioned it for charity due to a miscommunication... AND the fact that while we haven't sent payment yet, we have already agreed to compensate Billet Labs for the cost of their prototype). There are other issues, but I've told him that I won't be drawn into a public sniping match over this and that I'll be continuing to move forward in good faith as part of 'Team Media'. When/if he's ready to do so again I'll be ready.

To my team (and my CEO's team, but realistically I was at the helm for all of these errors, so I need to own it), I stressed the importance of diligence in our work because there are so many eyes on us. We are going through some growing pains - we've been very public about them in the interest of transparency - and it's clear we have some work to do on internal processes and communication. We have already been doing a lot of work internally to clean up our processes, but these things take time. Rome wasn't built in a day, but that's no excuse for sloppiness.

Now, for my community, all I can say is the same things I always say. We know that we're not perfect. We wear our imperfection on our sleeves in the interest of ensuring that we stay accountable to you. But it's sad and unfortunate when this transparency gets warped into a bad thing. The Labs team is hard at work hard creating processes and tools to generate data that will benefit all consumers - a work in progress that is very much not done and that we've communicated needs to be treated as such. Do we have notes under some videos? Yes. Is it because we are striving for transparency/improvement? Yeah... What we're doing hasn't been in many years, if ever.. and we would make a much larger correction if the circumstances merited it. Listing the wrong amount of cache on a table for a CPU review is sloppy, but given that our conclusions are drawn based on our testing, not the spec sheet, it doesn't materially change the recommendation. That doesn't mean these things don't matter. We've set KPIs for our writing/labs team around accuracy, and we are continually installing new checks and balances to ensure that things continue to get better. If you haven't seen the improvement, frankly I wonder if you're really looking for it... The thoroughness that we managed on our last handful of GPU videos is getting really incredible given the limited time we have for these embargoes. I'm REALLY excited about what the future will hold.

With all of that said, I still disagree that the Billet Labs video (not the situation with the return, which I've already addressed above) is an 'accuracy' issue. It's more like I just read the room wrong. We COULD have re-tested it with perfect accuracy, but to do so PROPERLY - accounting for which cases it could be installed in (none) and which radiators it would be plumbed with (again... mystery) would have been impossible... and also didn't affect the conclusion of the video... OR SO I THOUGHT...

I wanted to evaluate it as a product, and as a product, IF it could manage to compete with the temperatures of the highest end blocks on the planet, it still wouldn't make sense to buy... so from my point of view, re-testing it and finding out that yes, it did in fact run cooler made no difference to the conclusion, so it didn't really make a difference.

Adam and I were talking about this today. He advocated for re-testing it regardless of how non-viable it was as a product at the time and I think he expressed really well today why it mattered. It was like making a video about a supercar. It doesn't mater if no one watching will buy it. They just wanna see it rip. I missed that, but it wasn't because I didn't care about the consumer.. it was because I was so focused on how this product impacted a potential buyer. Either way, clearly my bad, but my intention was never to harm Billet Labs. I specifically called out their incredible machining skills because I wanted to see them create something with a viable market for it and was hoping others would appreciate the fineness of the craftsmanship even if the product was impractical. I still hope they move forward building something else because they obviously have talent and I've watched countless niche water cooling vendors come and go. It's an astonishingly unforgiving market.

Either way, I'm sorry I got the community's priorities mixed-up on this one, and that we didn't show the Billet in the best light. Our intention wasn't to hurt anyone. We wanted no one to buy it (because it's an egregious waste of money no matter what temps it runs at) and we wanted Billet to make something marketable (so they can, y'know, eat).

With all of this in mind, it saddens me how quickly the pitchforks were raised over this. It also comes across a touch hypocritical when some basic due diligence could have helped clarify much of it. I have a LONG history of meeting issues head on and I've never been afraid to answer questions, which lands me in hot water regularly, but helps keep me in tune with my peers and with the community. The only reason I can think of not to ask me is because my honest response might be inconvenient.

We can test that... with this post. Will the "It was a mistake (a bad one, but a mistake) and they're taking care of it" reality manage to have the same reach? Let's see if anyone actually wants to know what happened. I hope so, but it's been disheartening seeing how many people were willing to jump on us here. Believe it or not, I'm a real person and so is the rest of my team. We are trying our best, and if what we were doing was easy, everyone would do it. Today sucks.

Thanks for reading this.

Form your own opinion over this, I know already what I think about him.
He is a massive coward.
